Chapter 7: Picnic At the Park
"I was wondering...." Seth stated slowly. We were taking a break from training. "If you would come with me to this new park? It's pretty nice from what I hear."
"Are you asking me out on a date?" I asked, in a playful way.
"Maybe." But he quickly added, "But we can totally do something else if you want to go."
"I would love to." I smiled. "Where is this park?"
"I'll pick you up. Then you wot have to look."
"Pick me up? Alright." I smiled.
"Well, alright then. But I'm going to go before you can back out of this." He smiled cheekily.
"Back out? It's not to late for that?" I joked. He laughed slightly as he walked out the door. "See you Friday?"
"Friday." He smiled before closing the door.
"Friday."
~.~ (Friday)
"Don't be late. Training is tomorrow." Klarion. "Be gone." An engine roared, and it grew closer to the house.
"Kay." I closed the door and sat on the porch to wait. A motorcycle pulled up.
"Hey, Amelia!" The rider took off the helmet that covered his face. It was Seth.
"We're going to the park on that?" I asked. "Fun."
"Yeah, brought you a helmet." I jogged over and took it.
"Thanks." I whipped one leg around the motorcycle. I lightly wrapped my arms around Seth.
"Hold tight, you could fall off." Seth said, making the engine roar. I gripped a little tighter, but not much. Rearing back, we sped off. I had never rode a motorcycle, so fear caught ahold of me. I hugged Seth in a death grip. Call me crazy, but I swear I thought I heard him chuckle. But when you ignore the roar engine, it feels like your flying. I should know. It ended quickly. We were there.
"Welcome." Seth said after taking off his helmet.
"Whoa." It was beautiful, there were huge oak trees, ash, and aspen trees scattered about. There was a single towering metal slide, and a swing set. It wasn't just one of those parks for kids. It was a beautiful place to walk and ride bikes and such.
"Great right?" Seth was already walking.
"Yeah." I jogged and caught up. "What are we going to do?"
"You are going to go sit on the swings, I'll be right back." Seth lightly and playfully pushed me towards the swings and ran back to his motorcycle. I sat on the swings facing the trees, I even started to swing.
"Back." He came back with a bundle in his arms. "Where would you like to sit?"
"Um, under that tree." I pointed to an oak.
"Alrighty, let's go." It was a basket and blanket. I got really excited.
"Are we having a picnic?!" I nearly was jumping. He chuckled and nodded. We threw down the blanket and sat towards the middle.
"So what would you like to eat? I hope you're not allergic to peanut butter." He opened the basket and pulled food out. "Because I made PB&J."
"Nope, I love PP&J." I smiled. They were cut into triangles.
"I also brought some sodas and snacks for later. Then desert." But he left the desert in the basket. "But that's a surprise." I took a bit of the sandwich and savored the flavor.
"How do you make a simple food this good?!" I asked after swallowing.
"A cook never reveals his secrets." He winked. I smiled and finished off the sandwich.
"Mmm," I sighed. "That was really good." He snickered and smiled.
"You have jelly on your chin." He chuckled. "Here." Seth handed me a napkin.
"Thanks." I tried to wipe it away. "Did I get it?"
"No." He leaned closer and with his thumb he whipped it away. "There." We sat close.
"Thanks." I said quietly. We sat there, and I looked into his dark gray eyes that were nearly black. We leaned closer and-
BOOM!
"Looks like the fireworks are starting." He sat back and laid on his side to watch.
"Fireworks?" I turned and there they where. Brilliant colors. I laid next to him and watch as they blasted in the darkening sky.
