Chapter 15: Replaced
My fist made contact with the Joker's nose making a nice crack and a stream of blood explode from his nose. Strangely, he giggled and smiled wickedly. Like no, that's weird, I just broke your nose. Instead of letting him know that freaked me out I kneed him in the gut before kicking him in the side.
He reached for his side and pulled out a grenade. But it wasn't a grenade, but something that released Joker's gas. I sucked in a deep breath and flipped back I escape it.
I hate this part. I sneered.
"Sag ksam dna selgoog!" A gas mask and goggles formed around my face.
Where is everyone?! I couldn't find the team. They all disappeared, chasing after their own villain and M'gann didn't have the chance to set up a telepathic link.
As soon as we followed out lead into the factory, we were attacked. Seven attackers appeared out of the shadows, separating us. I had the pleasure of facing the Joker (I'm being sarcastic, fight me).
While distracted by my thoughts I was knocked back. The wind was knocked out of me, leaving me gasping for air. The Joker's foot held down my throat slowly closing my throat.
Stars sparkled across my vision and my lungs burned.
"Teg ffo fo em!" I manage to choke out the words. The Joker flew off like an invisible hand grinned his torso and threw his body back.
My heart launched into my stomach. What is his angle? Does he know? My feet lifted off the ground with a familiar feeling.
"Didn't ya get the memo girly?" The Joker laughed with his head throwing back. "The plan's moving into action."
Plan? My heart beat loudly into my chest.
"What are you up to? This isn't apart of it!" I sneered lowly under my breath. Joker laughed again, arching his back.
"Don't ya get it? You're fired."
"The hell is that suppose to mean?" I clenched my fists, my nails cutting into my skin.
"Stupid little girl," The Joker muttered, his wicked smile turning into an upset frown. A switchblade slid out from his sleeve.
I guess we're done talking.
I flew as fast as I could. Chills ran down my back as the smile of his face grew.
"You've been replaced," Joker snickered, but was too slow to stop my foot from smacking into his face. He landed flat on his back and I hovered over him and slammed my foot into his face, knocking him out cold.
"Little-"
"Good job," The new voice was covered with a techno cover up. "Too bad you're being replaced by, well, me."
I turned, my eyes meeting Molten's own dark eyes. There was no hatred or disgust in behind them. It was more of a... Pity and a deep rooted sadness.
Don't pity me.
"I'm sorry," In a burst of flames he disappeared.
~.~.~
I couldn't move. I gripped my hair in tangles, pulling at it gingerly. I wanted to pull it out in frustration. I didn't care about my team, or Klarion, or even Seth. I wanted it all to stop. I wanted to be done.
I changed back into my normal clothes. It felt more familiar and more comforting than some uniform that was just a grim reminded of my betrayal.
I betrayed my friends, the only friends I had ever known.
Now, I'm being betrayed myself by the people who put me on the trail of complicated feelings.
"Tropelet emoh." I just wanted to be alone. I'm tired of being a murder.
As soon as my feet touch the hard wood a regretted coming "home." Klarion was shouting at someone, people were crowded in the training room. I disappeared into my room where I could complicate life and why I was on Earth in the first place.
The bed was cool and I curled under the covers. I was tired. I honestly should have seen it coming. My first real mission ended. Soon I would stop going to public school and see my friends. Klarion would take away my life.
"No," I say up and stormed to the closet. "I'm done being someone's puppet." I pulled my suit case out. I grabbed whatever clothes and stuffed them in. I grabbed my toothbrush and tooth paste and whatever else I needed from the bathroom.
I was leaving and there was no stopping me. I'm not someone's puppet. I'm done being pushed around.
