Chapter 13: My Head Hurts Like A *Party*

My skull literally felt like the most punk party happened and I drank like one hundred alcohol beverages then threw up in the bathtub. Maybe then passed out on the lawn.

"Ouch," I managed to pry my eyes open, but instently covered my face with my hands due to the bright lights. "Where am I?" Speaking made my dry throat ache for water.

"Hospital." Klarion sat cross-legged in a nearby chair. "You honestly made a rookie mistake and almost gotten yourself killed." Surprisingly, he didn't sound childish. Just like an upset parent.

"Well," I began and the tone was not pleasant. "How was I supposed to know about some new guy showing up and tearing up the whole gosh darn place!" I cleared my throat as it cracked.

"You need to be prepared!" His calm adult voice quickly turned childish and angry. "What if they exposed you?!"

"What if I didn't want to do this anymore?!" The words echoed off the walls, followed by absolute silence.

"What?" Klarion's voice was stern and it didn't sound like a question.

"Sorry," I mumbled under my breath. "I'm just tired, that's all." I tried to cover up my true feeling with the simple lie. He grumbled something under his breath before running his hand through his hair.

"Fine." He stood and opened the door. "But if you ever say something like that again..." Then he left, the words hanging there.

It was only a few minutes later when the team surprised me. It was a little tight squeeze in the small space. M'gann brought cookies that she baked and Artemis brought a notebook saying it was for when I got bored.

"Thanks," I smiled. It was nice to know they cared.

"How are you?" Robin asked.

"Fine other than my head hurting like a-" Kaldur glared at me and I stopped myself from cursing. It was then I remembered we were some kid show that was cancelled after season two. Nah, I'm just kidding.

"Party?" I said hesitantly and he nodded.

"Some guy was out there waiting for you." Conner said and crossed his arms. "Seth?"

"Oh," I thought back to the battle. That couldn't possibly be him. He hates his dad. "When you guys leave, you can send him in."

"Okay," M'gann smiled and I had a feeling it was in a teasing way. But hey, I'm not good at reading people. I felt my wrist and my heart jumped when I found them bare.

"Where are they?" I asked, trying to sound calm.

"Your bracelets?" Robin asked. "I think Dr. Fate took them." Then shrugged.

"I thought you were a detective! I thought you would notice these things!" I gave up on sounding calm.

"Amelia-"

"No, you don't understand. I need them!" My heart quickened in pace. Oh God, what will he do to me? What is Fate finds out something he isn't supposed to know?!

"We'll get them back." Wally reassured.

"Please," I didn't like begging but I needed them.

"Okay, come on guys." Kaldur corralled everyone out of the room.

"Don't worry, we'll find it." Artemis called as they left. Then Seth came in.

"Are you okay?" My heart warmed to his concerned tone.

"Yeah," I smiled and tapped the edge of my bed for him to sit.

"You sure? You look stressed." Seth asked and rested his hand on mine. His dark eyes stared into my own.

"Yeah," I nodded and turned my hand over to lace my fivers with his. "What about you?"

"If your okay, then I'm okay." He kissed the top of my hand. His lips were soft and warm. "What happened?" He asked.

"Molten happened. So much was happening that I blacked out." I sighed, "I couldn't even help."

"I'm sure you were great and you did help. Be happy, you're the silver lining."

"Ha. Ha. Very funny." But I smiled despite my words.

"So when do you get outta here?" He asked and leaned back. I rested my head on his shoulder. For a second I was worried he would freak out or something, but he didn't say anything about it.

"I have no idea. I woke up not even an hour ago." I moved closer to the warmth of his body. Our conversation faded away.

His breathing evened out after a few minutes. I looked up to his face, eyes closed with gentle features. His dark hair fell onto his forehead in parts. I smiled to myself.

~.~.~

"Amelia?" A nurse knocked on the door before opening it.

"Yeah," I sat up and scratched the back of my head. Seth still slept beside me.

"Docs say you're ready to get discharged. You still might get a slight pain in your head due to your minor concision, so the doctor prescribed pain medication." She set the small bottle on the bedside table. She didn't care about Seth beside me.

"Okay, so I can leave?" I asked.

"Yup, you just need a parent and/or guardian to sign a few papers. Is your dad here?"

"Um, yeah. Just went to grab a coffee." I lied. The lady smiled, set the paper on the bedside table beside the medication then said:

"Okay, just have him sign these when he gets back then you're all good to go." Then she left.

"Seth," I poked his arm. He grumbled something under his breath and then turned on his side away from me.

"Seth!" I pushed him off the bed.

"I'm up!" He sprung up from the floor where he landed.

"Come on." I giggled. I foraged Klarion's signature. "Let's go. Drive me home?"

"Sure." He smiled.

It was nice to be in the motorcycle again. I wore Seth's helmet this time. It smelt like maple and musk.

"Let's go somewhere!" I shouted over the engine.

"Where?" He called back.

"Anywhere!"
