Chapter 41: I Fight a Possessed Body

The coffin was empty. Kronos wasn't there. Dread filled me, it consumes me. I saw a boy cowering in the ground by the coffin. When he glanced up I recognized him from my vision. He had one eye covered with a black threadbare cloth. I motioned for him to run, to leave. I don't know if he listened, my attention was now back on what was happening in front of me.

I looked up and around. Standing at the very end of the room was a young man, he was a blond athletic, muscular guy. He was pointing a huge sword at a boy. It took me a second to realize who it was.

Percy. He looked like he was running in slow motion.

"Percy!" I tried screaming.

I had no idea what I was going to do, but I stood up, on the horses back, pulling the string of my bow back, just as a blue plastic hair brush flew out of nowhere and slammed the young man in the face. He stumped back, a hand holding his face. I saw over the blond guys shoulder, Percy caught my eye. His mouth dropped open. Annabeth stood frozen, her eyes huge in horrified realization, staring at the blond guy holding his eye. And Rachel Elizabeth Dare stood, she had thrown the hairbrush. I also saw Nico. I'm pretty sure I sagged in relief, he had somehow found Percy! Oh thank Apollo. Nick would be okay. They just needed to get out. The man who had a hair brush checked at his face was recovering, he shook his head.

"STOP THEM!" his voice...I recognized it, it rattled in my head, like knives scrapping against my skull the same way it did the other night. Kronos. Somehow he was back, and looked like a young man. Then it clicked. This was Luke's body. Kronos was somehow possessing him, using him. They needed to leave.

"Run Nico! Go!"

"Nora! But-"

"GO! MOVE YOUR EMO ASS GRANDPA!"

Nico yelled something at Percy, he didn't need to be told twice, he spun around and grabbed Annabeth and yanked her away. Rachel right in his heels. Nico stood in the doorway.

"Go Nico! I'll find you! I'm okay. I promise."

I released my arrow. It hit him perfectly in the back, would have pierced his body but the arrow glanced off of him harmlessly like I shot a Nurf bullet at him. He whipped around still holding his eye. His glowing gold eyes fixed on me now.

"No!" Nico yelled.

He clapped his hands together, and a jagged spire of rock the size of an eighteen-wheeler erupted from the ground right in front of the entrance. The tremor it caused was so powerful the front columns of the building came crashing down. The tremors shook the floor and a huge crack spidered through the floor. This time it didn't seem to bother me. I stood stead on the back of the horse. She reared up on her back legs, kicking her front ones, her firey gold main flicked around sending gold glittering sparks into the air. I pulled another arrow from my quiver.

"Ahhh. Granddaughter of my favorite brother. You resemble him." The Kronos-Luje spreed his arms like he was welcoming a guest, and expecting a hug. The horse shied away, flinging her main back and forth.

"Eww. Do not compare me to Lord of the Dimwitted."

I could feel his laughter. It was terrible and made my head hurt. I shook my head, and pulled the arrow back. The crack in the floor grew.

"Don't waist you arrows on my child. It is useless. This temporary body has been prepared perfectly."

"I'm not waisting them." I let go of the string. Just as another pillar crashed to the floor causing another dust cloud to form. He didn't even both to move, Kronos wasn't wearing armour and it should have pierced his heart, but again the arrow bounced off harmlessly.

"I warned you. Now put the weapons away and join me. I know you do not agree with the gods. They are nothing but selfish brutal and untrustworthy."

"And you are? I call bull shit. Your going to kill every one of the demigods and burn my home."

"Only the fools who stand in my way."

"You are no better then the gods."

"I am better then the gods, once Olympus has fallen I'll bring in a new age, a golden age!"

"Massive war? Death? Destruction?"

At the moment, the crack in the floor became a huge gapping hole. It was an endless pit to somewhere, I didn't what to know where, but hot sulfuric air exploded into the cold air. The ground shook again.

"No demigod will be left alone and unwanted!"

"Really? Cuz you have one cowering right now that you probably forgot about. Did you know Luke was going to kill him? He was going to be the sacrifice."

"I needed was a demigod blood." He turned his head, and looked at the boy on the ground, why he hadn't taken the opportunity to run was beyond me. I know things with the gods weren't great, but nothing could be worse then what this tirant was talking about. "And it wasn't his blood. I used yours."

He smiled, but it was evil and sinister when he looked up and his gold eyes locked onto me. That took me by surprise. I sucked in a sharp breath and looked up sharply.

"All that trickery and dark magic. Would have been easier to just grab you. But whatever, it is done."

"What? How...?"

My burnt hand seared in pain, amd I almost dropped my bow. And it clicked. All the drama and plotting just to get a few drops of my blood. Eos seducing Raph to try lure me into a trap, but when it was Artimis who showed up to save him they had to replan something. And then someone stole the sun horses they knew I'd go after them. Somehow the dark Magic took my blood.

"Man you guys went through a lot of work just for me. I feel so special!"

"You have yet to realize how special little demigod!"

"Oh shut up grandpa. I won't ever join you."

"My Lady?" The horse asked.

"Ya I'm over the evil villain talk. Let's get out of here." I agreed, I clipped my bow back into a charm and pulled my knives.

The Horse reared up again and charged. The Phoenix took up his song. It filled the chamber, it filled me with hope and courage. I couldn't shoot him with the arrows, whatever he did to Luke's mortal body he was obviously not capable of being hit. We had to escape.

"I can't fight a Titan! We need to leave!"

"Yes my lady!"

The room was shaking, chunks of the black rock from the ceiling were crashing down around us. And now, these weird half dog and half sea lion monster demons were starting to swarm out of doors. Some of them were huge. I knocked the sword of Kronos-Luke away with my knives. It took all my strength just to deflect it. The horse was fast and agile. She kept moving. I tucked the knives back into my belt and had my bow back in my hand. Unlike their master, these dog monsters were easy to take down. My arrows sliced through them like butter.

Kronos-Luke tried to slow down time, it worked for a split second, and it felt like we were running through syrup. But then The Phoenix's song sweeled and the time spell was broken.

"That accursed bird!" Kronos-Luke screamed.

He lunged, but it was jerky and disjointed. His sword swung wide and I aimed an arrow at the hilt. The arrow managed to knock it out of the Kronos-Luke's hand. It clattered to the floor. The dog demons all looked over at him in disbelief.

"Now would be a good right good time Lik Miss to send these here vermin back to where the sun don't shine!" The Pheonix suggested.

"Agreed."

I could feel the frustration and anger. I tapped into it, pulling strength from it. Though now, I understood, it wasn't the anger I was tapping into. It was the strength I had found in those I loved. As much as I hated Aphrodite, she had been right. Love was a powerful tool. Love kept me going, and now it was a love for my fellow demigods, and my camp (sure I had only been there a grand total of 2 days, but semantics...) but this Kronos-Luke wanted to destroy it, and I wasn't going to let that happen.

The strength I tapped into was deep down, but when I did I felt it explode inside of me and it radiated outwards, like a wild nuclear blast. I felt the Pheonix song crishendo, and with a sweep of his wings and a scream of defiance from myself, I threw the fire outwards. Everything in the 5 killamiter radius was fried to a crisp, all the deamon dogs disinigrated. Everything that could be burnt was. Kronos-Luke was knocked backwards with the shock wave that came with the explosion. He slammed into a colloum and crumpled to the floor, anday in a heap.

"I ...I am ...done."

I slumped forwards into the neck of the horse.

"I have you my Lady, I won't let you fall."

The horse leapt over the huge creator in the floor and leapt over a fallen support beam. More Celine chunks were smashing into the ground. She ran, leaving streaks of firey gold. And true to her word, she never let me. It only took her a few leaps and we were out of the coffin room, just as the last of the support colloums crumbled.

I let my head fall and I closed my eyes and everything around me faded.

🔆

My body slowly came around. First thing that came back was my consciousness. I was aware I had woken up, but the pressing silence around me made me nervouse. I could feel the wind in my skin and it cooked my feverish skin. I could smell the salty ocean air and grass under my fingers. I slowly peeking my eyelids open. I groaned. The sun was bright. But it was heavenly. I inhaled deeply loving the warmth and heat in my face. I lay for a few minutes basking in the sun. And slowly peeked my eyes open again and looked around. I was laying in some kind of cot bed, a tent was set up, but there was a big opening in the roof, like a window, letting in the sun. Very confused I  slowly pushed my self up into my elbows.

The tent walls were white and silver, there was a table set up and rugs and first everywhere. A table right next to the cot had a few Nectar Aid juice boxes. I sat up and threw my feet over the edge. And got to my feet, I had no idea where I was, or who was around. I pulled my knives out and slowly crept to the tent opening and peeked out.

Looking around I saw The Pheonix and the horse in front of a bright red sport car, a blond teen was leaning on the hood of the car, his arms folded. Standing beside him was a girl no older then 16, but in black leggings and a silver top.

I shoved my knives into my belt and ran. I lunged at the teen and threw my arms around him. Apollo didn't hesitate, and he hugged me tighter. He held me tight for a second and then pulled away a huge grin on his face. And used his hands to sign fluently.

"Hello my Ellie, my Ray of Sunshine!"

"Dad! What are you doing here?"

"Glitter called."

"Glitter?"

"Your horse."

"My...what?"

The white and gold fire horse nudged my back. I turned and held her long face, and stroked her nose.

"You saved me. Thank you."

"No my lady. You saved me."

I looked back at Apollo. And raised an eyebrow.

"Artie told me about Sparkles Foal. Ares war horses can make quite the impression...I need to have a word with him about his horses, not the first time they seduced a horse."

I raised my own eyebrows again, looking at him. He gave me an innocent look. I rolled my eyes. .

"How many half siblings do I have? The cabin is getting full! Maybe you should wrap it, dad!"

He gasped and Artimis howled with laughter. She signed while she laughed, throwing her head back.

"I like her. You want a spot with the hunters? We always have a spot for a girl who doesn't take no crap from anyone. You and Thalia would get along splendidly."

"No! She has a soul mate to get back to."

"I...maybe not right now. I'm going back to camp." I sign. "It's my home and that's my family. I need to help save them."

"Well there's always a spot for you. Don't tell anyone, but your my favorite of my idiot brothers kids."

I grinned. "Thank you."

"I will see you Eleanora. If you ever need anything...call."

"Thank you."

I nodded my head. Artimis nodded and turned and went into the tent. I looked back at Apollo. He was just smiling at me.

"I'm proud of you Sunbeam." He signed. His baby blue eyes hadn't left me, and I could read how sincere they were. They looked exactly like Will's and Lee's. I don't know how much more I can help or come see you." He paused and his shoulders slumped. He shook his head and then looked up at me again. "But I want you to know how proud I am of you. You have grown and learned so much over these last few weeks."

"Thank you." I smiled.

"One last thing, The Phoenix bird..." He indicated to the bird.

He fluttered forwards and landed on the shoulder of Apollo.

"Ma Lil Missy. We had a good run together. I'll always be darn toonen' grateful for everything ya did for me! I won't ever forget ya. You were present when I was reincarnated. That means you have been granted a wish."

I gapped at the bird, but then shook my head.

"I don't need a wish granted unless you can kill a Titan, save camp and all the lost angry demigods."

"I cannot. However, I will give you this."

The bird took flight into the hot air and he spun into the air and then spread his wings wide he threw his head back and let a loud beautiful note. It filled me with hope and made tears spring into my eyes, it was beautiful.

Something appeared in a flash of fire. A feather. It gently floated down from the sky and landed in my out stretched hand. The bird landed back on Apollo's shoulder. His beady bird eyes fixed on me.

"It is a gift."

"You know the story of the Pheonix, right, Ellie?" Apollo signed. I shook my head.

"Sit! We will eat while I tell you!" He snapped his fingers and a picnic appeared. He sat down and indicated that I do som the bird settled in the edge of the picnic blanket. The horse, who's name was Glitter, folded her legs and sat down behind me. As I munched on a sandwich, the beautiful Pheonix feather in my lap, Apollo explained the story of the Phoenix.

"Upon every fifth eclipse, the Phoenix reaches the pinnacle of its longevity and reverts back into a chick in a column of flame, at which point any wish made in that instant is granted by the call of the phoenix. The Phoenix is so powerful that even Kronos, back when he ruled could not destroy it without incurring the wrath of Gaia or Ourano. Artie and me swore upon the River Styx that, while the Phoenix was either in the sky or upon the earth, an attack on the Phoenix would destroy the soul of that person completely. They will be denied Elysium, rebirth or reformation, and their soul will be wiped from the face of existence."

I set my sandwich down and signed back and used my link with the bird, "so that's why Hyperion didn't destroy you, but he broke your wings and kept you chained with magic, it wasn't an attack, he was waiting for your rebirth."

The bird nodded.

"But you like lady were not just whiteness to my rebirth, you were a part of it, Lil Lady. The rebirth fire flows in your veins. The feather will assist you. You have five uses, each time you go Super Nova on the vermin around ya, the feather will burn down. When you reach five....you are no more."

"Why five?"

"Fifth eclipse of the sun. You tomes in a firey death and rebirth."

I nodded. The feather in my hand was a beautiful red and gold, it started to shrink and it became a charm. I attached it to my bracelet.

"Thank you nobel bird for the gift. And your help in escaping Kronos. But now...I really need to get to camp. I have been gone too long I need to help save camp." I looked at Apollo, "please father. I need to get to camp and save my home."

He nodded with a proud smile. He got up and snapped his fingers and I was transformed into full Greek battle gear. And helmet, the plume was red and gold and adorned with carvings of suns and fire. The never ending quiver was full size and on my back along with my bow, gleaming gold in the sun. Glitter was on her feet in full Greek horse battle gear.

"My Lord Apollo!" She bowed and trotted around proudly. "My father will be so proud of me!"

"Glitter?"

"My Lady, I am too young and not strong enough to help pull the sun chariot, if they need a spare tire, Lord Apollo will call me, but I would be honoured to go into battle with you, and see this camp worth saving."

"You...you want to come with me?"

"Yes My Lady."

I smiled and patted her neck. "I would be honoured."

I looked at my godly parent with a smile and signed, "Thank you father. For everything."

"Go save the world Ellie, my little ray if sunshine."

I nodded and gracefully pulled myself up onto the back of Glitter. She leapt into the air, and galloped through the sky like a ray of sunlight.
