Chapter 10
Axel POV
Amelia has been missing for days...
There's no sign of her anywhere. I'm starting to worry and for good reasons too.
My wolf can only last so long without any physical contact with our mate, and ill be sure to follow pursuit.
Luckily no one died in the fire but Amelia's body still remains uncovered, which pisses me off. She's officially been cased as missing.
Every day it breaks me. Not only am I affected mentally, but physically too.
My pack is weakening because of me and no matter how much the Police tell me she's likely to be gone, I know she's not, I can feel it and so can my wolf.
If she were gone my heart would feel like someone had torn it to pieces then set it alight 1000 times.
My Beta, Hunter, walks up behind me and places a piece of paper in front of me. I turn it over to see one of Amelia's many Missing signs.
My wolf wines. Her ocean-cold eyes are burning into my soul, screaming for me.
"They're everywhere." He grunts.
"And what's wrong with that? The sooner we find Amelia the better." I reply, getting frustrated with the topic already.
"Do you realise what this means, Axel!" He waves the paper in front of my face and I growl at him. He's disrespecting me and I don't like it one bit.
I hit the paper out of his hands, about to storm out of the door but he stops me.
"It means that if our enemies find out that she's your mate, finds out you're weak and vulnerable, they will attack!" He shouts.
Hunter looks around the room then whispers, "We have enemies, Axel."
"Don't you think I know that!" I shout. "Don't you think I know we are running out of time!"
He flinches. My wolf and I are on the verge of sanity but I know I have to say strong.
Do it for Amelia.
"I watched Amelia, your Luna, walk into those flames completely hypnotised. Somethings wrong. Something she hasn't told me, possibly nobody," I say, rubbing my chin.
Hunter looks at me, his face unreadable.
"Well, duh, you've hardly talked to her. Why would you know anything?"
"Her wolf would've pulled out to my wolf. But she never did."
He shrugs his shoulders. "Maybe the bond isn't strong enough."
I growl at that. His voice sounds like a warning, a threat.
"Watch your mouth, Hunter. You don't want to be on my bad side. I may have no control over my wolf if he decides to kill you, Beta or not."
He takes a step back and sighs.
"All I'm saying is to keep an eye out. I can sense something coming, something powerful and dangerous, and I fear it's Amelia we need to be cautious of."
"My mate has nothing to do with your little short sightings, O'Connell," I glare at him. "So don't assume anything."
"My 'short sightings' are the only reason you knew were to find Jenna when she was kill-"
He couldn't finish his sentence because the next thing he knew, I had him pinned to the wall by his throat.
"You want to finish your sentence?" I challenged him. I could feel my wolf growling, wanting to rip his heart out.
'Hunters got some nerve. He's wasting our time. We need to find Amelia! All our attention should be in finding our mate!' My wolf yells.
'I know and I'm trying. Any luck in reaching out to Amelia's wolf?'
'Well....'
'Well?" I ask, feeling my wolf hesitate.
'You're not going to like it, Axel. Trust me, neither do I, but its best if you didn't know.'
"Max, tell me now!' I shout.
'Amelia is unresponsive but her wolf......she's in pain.'
'What do you mean 'in pain'?'
'Somethings wrong, Axel. Somethings horribly wrong. All I know is that you need to find Amelia.'
And what he said after that left me in a complete state of fright and terror.
'Before it's too late.'
