This new demigod
Agnes POV
The trip on the van took ages.
Maybe to you it seems like ten minutes, sure, but to me...
ADHD strikes. I fiddled. Duh.
Anyway, right after Argus dropped us off, I noticed something weird.
Why is the bush rustling? I asked.
Rysa widened her eyes.
'HYDRA!' we all shouted.
I spun my weapon. It turned into a bow and a quiver of flaming arrows.
'Shoot it! Shoot it!' Rhinestone yelled frantically.
Aly rolled her eyes. 'CHARGE!'
'Aly, no!' Rysa cried.
Aly grinned. 'Agnes, just shoot. I swear I'll be fine.'
'If you don't come back alive,' I warned her, 'I'll make sure Hades gives you a terrible room to live in.'
Aly charged in. I took an arrow and nocked.
The arrow flew to the hydra's head, barely touching Aly.
I shot another. This arrow whizzed past the hydra, right where Aly was.
'Aly, DUCK!' I yelled.
She ducked and the arrow hit a tree.
'Stupid arrow,' I muttered. I shot another and another, and the monster's heads were gradually defeated.
Except the immortal one.
In the corner of my eye, I saw Aly scoot towards a weird piece of stone. She kneeled and pressed it.
A hole appeared and the immortal head fell down.
'Aly!' Blossom said.
She smiled. 'I knew there would be an immortal head, so I dug a hole like, um... Which hero did?'
'Heracles or Hercules, I think,' Rysa replied.
'We don't have time to think,' I told them.
'Um... Where are we?' Blossom asked.
I looked around. For once my godly GPS wasn't sure.
'Need some help, girls?' a girl with black raven hair, a silver jacket and a silver backpack questioned. She was with a blond boy with blue eyes like children of Zeus or Jupiter would have. He wore a golden jacket and had a golden quiver slung over his shoulder. Both the girl and the boy held a bow, silver and golden respectively.
I guessed who they were immediately.
'Yeah,' Rysa said. 'How... Where are we?'
'Manhattan,' Artemis answered. 'Rumor says Mount Olympus resides over the Empire State Building.'
Blossom edged away. 'Okay then. Um...'
Luckily Aly saved her. 'We're looking for this place called the Junkyard of th - of God.'
Apollo nodded. He pointed south.(Sorry if I get anything wrong, I'm not bothering to check the books and I've never been to America.) 'It's called junkyard of the gods, girls.' He winked at us.
Artemis rolled her eyes. 'Shut up, brother.' she slapped him. 'Girls, all you need to know is: go south, until you see the place. But that is not what you are looking for.'
She regarded us coldly, as she usually does. Her silver eyes gleamed and she sent me a message: Going good, daughter?
Yep, I replied. What are we looking for?
A place in Upper East Street, she told me. It is called the Playground of the Little Gods.
Alright then, I said. Seriously, Mom, thanks.
No problem.
Apollo waved us goodbye. 'Bye, beauties,'
I rolled my eyes. 'Bye, ugly.'
He faked a look of hurt before disappearing into the mist.
Aly smiled.'Where do we need to go?'
The journey was excruciating. After about a hundred monsters, I was ready to bolt into a toilet and... Well, do something. My stomach is full off disgusting things.
'I have to pee,' I announced.
Aly was skipping. 'Yeah, me too.'
'We'll all go,' Rysa decided.
I shrugged. 'Okay.'
We spotted a bathroom and did our business. Me, I was a bit busy doing something else that involved clutching my stomach and throwing stuff up.
I wiped with my sleeve and went out. There was a girl standing outside. She looked rather frightened. 'M - monster!'
Rhinestone came out. 'Hey, don't worry. What's your name?'
'A - Annabelle Serena Simpsons.' (Lol. Look at her intials. Oops. Not. And no, she's not what it spells.)
Aly choked. 'What?'
'Annabel Serena Simpsons,' she repeated. 'God, you really don't have good ears.'
'I heard,' Aly said. 'It's just... Simpsons?'
'What's wrong?' Annabel looked offended.
'I know someone at camp who had a last name of Simpsons,' Aly explained.
'Is her name Lydia Simpsons?' I asked.
She looked mildly surprised. 'That - that's my sister!' she blurted out. 'But she disappeared! She left with a note, saying she would come back!'
'Annabelle,' I stated seriously. 'The Greek gods are real. We're demigods. Your sister went to a camp, Camp Half-Blood. I'm a daughter of Ar - Athena. Rhinestone, Blossom and Aly here are daughters of Hades. Rysa is a daughter of Poseidon.'
She nodded. 'So, I'm a daughter of what?'
'You have to be claimed,' Blossom said. 'Like, Agnes here is a daughter of Athena, and she was claimed with a symbol of an owl.'
I somehow sensed that Annabelle is my half-sister.
Hera, I yelled in my brain.
Yes? Her voice immediately answered.
Did you curse Artemis, again? I said.
Mhm. Hera sounded guilty.
Hera! I said.
Annabelle is your half-sister, Hera noted.
I know that.
'Why are you staring at me?' Annabelle crossed her arms.
'Jeez,' I said. ''Kay then, follow me.'
After a lot of complaining from the girls(mainly the twins), they finally arrived.
The playground was empty. Instead, toys were littered across it. I guess there hasn't been a new god born since... A long time ago.
Aly stared at the toys. 'Wow. New tech.'
'This is the Playground of the Minor Gods,' Rhinestone reminded her.
Annabel rolled her eyes. 'Let's keep going.'
For a ten year old, she can be really annoying.
We trudged through the mess. Blossom got really interested in a lot of things.
'Whoa, is that fingers?' Blossom asked once. She threw something at it.
'Yes,' Aly said, exasperated. 'Now let's go.'
We were almost there when we heard a thunking noise.
I blinked. 'That's the statue you touched, Blossom.'
Rhinestone glared at Blossom. 'Thanks for getting us into trouble.'
'That's the statue of Zeus,' Annabelle gasped.
'What statue?' Aly asked.
'The Statue of Zeus.' My heart sank. 'In... Olympia.'
