Chapter 32

Sierra

Sierra ran after Sumaya and became face-to-face with her.

"Listen, i will prove to you that Jasmine is the murderer. I promise you that." Sierra snarled at Sumaya.

"You're wasting your time! It can't be her!" Sumaya growled. She stormed off.

Sierra ran into the woods. She had a feeling Jasmine would be lurking there.

-----------
Sumaya

How could she just waltz up to me and accused my sister of murder?! Sumaya had those steamed thoughts run through her head after her argument with Sierra, her best friend... Her only friend.

Sumaya was conflicted. Her head shouted, All the evidence points to her! And she disappeared just before Clarisse was murdered! How can Sierra's dad, a god, be wrong? Why should you doubt her?

But at the same time, her heart screamed, No! Forget the evidence! Sierra's wrong! She's your sister! How could you even think such a thing!

Sumaya gripped her skull. "Enough!" She spoke a little too loudly to silence the screaming voices in her head.

A couple passing campers shot her a few confused looks, but they went about their business.

"Uh, Sumaya? You okay?" It was Annabeth. She walked up to Sumaya with a concerned look on her face.

"Yes." Sumaya said a bit too quickly. "Er, no. I mean, well, i don't know."

"Tell me what's wrong."

"You know the murderer that killed Clarisse and Lou Ellen?"

Annabeth nodded.

"Sierra is taking it upon herself to find out who it is. And with Apollo's help, she found fingerprints on the knife that was used to kill the victims."

Annabeth looked anxious. "And? Whose fingerprints?"

"My sister's." Sumaya choked out the words. "Sierra thinks that her eye wound was infected, and that it is giving her brain damage and driving her insane! My head is telling me to look at the facts, all the evidence pounts to her, and she's been missing since just before Clarisse and Chris died! But my heart is guilt-tripping me into being the good sister, and that she'd never do this!" Sumaya took a deep breath and sighed. "I don't know which to believe anymore. And now Sierra's run off into the woods, furious at me, obsessed with finding the murderer,"

Annabeth looked at my with sympathy. "Look, i can't really help you with your mental struggle. But i do know one thing, whatever big fight you and Sierra just had, you can't let her face this murderer alone, whether if it's your sister or no." Her tone got quieter. "I don't think we need to lose another friend today."

"You're right." Sumaya agreed. I don't know if i agree with Sierra or not, but she's my best friend. I need to help her.

"I'll come with you." Annabeth offered.

"Thank you."

Sierra

After about fifteen minutes of blindly wandering through the woods, scared out of her mind, Sierra finally found something.

Footprints. And a trail of blood.

No. No. No. Sierra's blood turned to ice. Tell me I'm not too late. I can't see another dead body again. Please.

Sierra felt a hand on her shoulder. HOLY SHIT WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!?

Sierra jumped, screamed, and spun around to see Sumaya and Annabeth.

"Holy shit, guys!!!" Sierra realized she was trembling madly. "You scared the living crap out of me."

"Holy shit, yourself." Annabeth was a bit freaked out. "You're more wound up than a hyperactive, caffeinated squirrel."

"Yeah," Sumaya agreed. "We came to help you."

Sierra narrowed her eyes in suspicion at Sumaya. "Really?"

Sumaya gave a deep sigh. "Look, I'm still not sure if i believe you or not right now. But i do know that you are my friend, and I have to help you."

"Thank you so much." Sierra was grateful that she had her friends by her side.

"What's that?" Annabeth choked out the words as she pointed to the trail of blood and footprints.

The panic returned. "I don't know, i had just found it when you guys came."

"We have to follow it." Sumaya said.

And with that, Annabeth, Sierra, and Sumaya followed the blood and footprints.

"It looks as if whomever was bleeding was being dragged away by the killer, and whoever they were with was running after them." Annabeth guessed.

"Guys?" Sumaya sounded horrified. "Look!"

The trail of blood had ended. What they saw was horrifying.

TO BE CONTINUED

Hey! Uh, little author's note here for ya!

Sorry about not updating. I've been kinda busy. And by busy i mean sitting around on my ass doing absolutely nothing, but too lazy to go on Wattpad to actually finish a chapter. Hey, at least I'm being honest.

And at least i published something, right? even if it was this...

Uh, sorry bout the cliffy, hopefully I'll have another chapter out soon.

Peace out!
