It could be just a few words for other people but for Hope, it was an inspiration behind the path she decided to chose. "Oh! how I wish I could go back in time". Hope was about to enter her sophomore year when she realised that the only way possible to find the truth about her father's disappearance was to witness it. To actually be present at that time when all those things happened to her father. It took more than 5 years for her father to write that perfect algorithm to travel in time when he has a team of trustworthy people to rely on or maybe that was just him who was thinking that way but for Hope, it was no one, not a single person with whom she could share her idea with.
To process her thoughts she decided to go to the nearby park and try to recall things she read about that algorithm in her mother's diary whilst reading some books to relax as well.
After a while
What's the benefit of being so brilliant when I can't find a way back to my dad. Uncle Sam won't help me, Mother won't allow me. How can I do it all alone? I can't show my full potential to anyone, they will never support. I wish you were here dad, I could've done so many things. We could've saved the world together.
*Hope's voice started trembling as her eyes started tearing up*.
Hello! young lady? *Hope heard a familiar old voice as she looked up and saw that old man standing right in front of her as his dog was playing around*
Oh! he...hello sir*Hope was startled*
Are you okay? *He asked as he saw the sudden shock on her face*
I am sorry I wasn't expecting you to be here now, and I was thinking of something*She said and smiled whilst standing up*
No..no.. sit down, it's okay*He said politely*
By the way, what do you mean by you weren't expecting to see me here now? Do you know me?*he asked curiously*
Oh, no...no...Actually, I see you very often here, you come here with your dog, umm... that's my hostel right there. I came here to study*She said pointing towards the University's hostel*
Oh! That's a prestigious one, you must be a really good student*He said and sat down next to her*
ahh!! no, what's the benefit of being really good if you are unable to give something to humanity? I mean, that's only my point of view. I think everyone has a purpose. I think I just found mine*she said*
That's very mature of you to think that. People nowadays don't care anymore but I must tell you that if you exist then there must be more people like you as well. *He said*
Well then, I wish I could meet them soon. My dad was one of them. P...People like the ones you and I are talking about. I think I'm like him but I can't see him anymore, I can't meet him anymore*Hope said and looked down in disappointment*
Oh! I... I am so sorry*He said and looked at her*
No, it's okay, I have never even seen him, I lost him when I wasn't even born. *Hope sighed*
See, young lady, life's unfair but you should remain fair to yourself. You know what I mean. What's stopping you when you know your purpose?*he asked*
Time*she said*
It's an illusion*he said*
Hope looked at him and giggled
You're just the way I thought about you sir *She said*
I heard you talking to your dog every day about how we should protect the earth. How things were so good back then. You have a lot of knowledge, I wish I had someone like you to guide me every day*she said*
*he coughs and said*
Well, I was a physics professor of my time. We all need someone to rely on but sometimes you gotta be your helping hand *he said*
I am studying physics*she said ecstatically*
Well then there should be nothing that could ever stop you*he said*
I have the idea and knowledge but lack of experience and instructions. I can't afford to take risks *she said nervously *
You're working on a college project? Or something?*he asked*
umm... not really but more like a personal goal of mine but I don't know if that's certainly possible. *she said and shrugs*
Everything seems impossible until it's done *He said*
I have a lot of questions but you truly helped me to find the answers to some of them.*Hope said happily*
Don't just look around but try to understand things, you'll find your answers around you. Life Ho..., Life young girl life, it has the answers to every question of yours. Your own life, your surroundings. *He said with a smile*
I am glad to meet you. By the way, I am Hope An... *she pauses*. Hope-Jones * she said and took her hands forward*
I am ... umm... I'm Hawking, Prof Hawking, not as great as the person whose book you're holding right now but I try my best. * He said and shook her hands while standing up*
I gotta go now, I think my purpose to meet you is over*he said and chuckled*
But I don't even have a place, I don't know where to start from? I can't do it in a hostel room, I have to read a lot of books and do a lot of calculations from the scratch before doing anything*she said as she saw him whistling for his dog to come back*
Like I said you gotta be your own helping hand but for your knowledge, there's an empty single floor house two streets away from here, I heard that no one goes there ever* he said from a distance as he was going back to his house and walked away*
Yeah but...*Hope said and saw that man fading away from her sight*
But every house has only one floor in that area.*She said*
Look around you Hope*he exclaimed and disappeared wholly from her sight*
Hope's POV:
How can I forget that? I should have asked him about dad. He was a physics professor, he must've heard about him. Perhaps knew everything about him.*she sighed*.
Anyway, I will go and see that house tomorrow and then I will meet uncle Sam to tell him about my plans. No one could guide me better than him when it comes to the time travel algorithm. I hope after listening to me, he will change his mind and try to execute dad's algorithm. At least he might have some data about it. It'll help me to build my project only if Uncle Sam allows me to use it.
