During Ojiro's week-long competition for his first Grand Prix assignment in France, he and Louise didn't talk to each other...
....after a terrible fight.
While eating that lunch with Kaede at the rink's cafeteria, Ojiro got this idea of treating them to ice cream, and he asked them what flavor they want.
"Dulce de Leche, if they have that," Louise responded to him lazily.
"Hai. How about you, Kae-san?"
Kaaae-san, she mimics sarcastically.
"Oh, you know me, Jikkun. You know I always love vanilla ice cream."
"Eh? You still like that?"
"I can't help it; it's the best!"
"Wait a sec, are you still insisting on that? Come on! We all know here that nothing beats chocolate."
Louise side-eyed the two who were teasing each other in front of her.
"Well, nothing can beat the original, right?" Kaede laughed and threw Louise a look.
After assuring them it's just fine for her to stay at the table while they leave her to buy the ice cream, Louise can exhale the fire out of her flaring nose.
WHAT A BITCH.
And she can't believe how Kaede can be able to pull off that bitch move for her to be the only one who can notice at the table.
At that moment, everything just crashed on Louise's head. Discovering Ojiro's ex-girlfriend. A hot, beautiful Japonesa who single-handedly flexed her superiority over her by slapping to her face all the things that she and Ojiro have done, they already shared it in the past...
...that it's nothing special.
She saw a tube of wasabi in the table and without thinking, she pinched all the remaining paste from the tube under a pile of raw salmon in the bento closest to Kaede's plate before the group came back.
"What you did back there...that was so childish. So childish." Ojiro's voice is alarmingly low and hoarse, indicating the level of his anger in Louise's memo, but she still chose to talk back.
"I already said I was sorry!"
It's just because her plan needed to backfire, and instead of Kaede eating those wasabi salmons, she gave them to Ojiro because she said that they're also one of his favorites.
And he almost died choking on it.
It was like it's his 96th time choking into something that Louise had done.
"It could have happened to anyone at that table. To the kids. Do you even realize that?"
It's her first time seeing him fuming in anger. It's not like he's the type who gets mad easily, but if he does, it's definitely over something really bad making her feel a bit of guilt.
Louise known Ojiro to follow the strict disciplinary rules of Japanese etiquette, so what she did, he will not let it pass.
"Tell me the reason why you did it," he commanded. His firm voice told her she'd better answer him or things would get worse.
She opened her mouth to speak, but stopped herself.
What's she going to tell him? That she got pissed because her ex talked about them watching fireworks on the roof and told her that she should know that Ojiro's favorite food is raw eggs?
It would only make her look more childish; it would never make sense to him, so she just closed her mouth and sighed, utterly defeated.
"See? You can't think of any reasonable reasons. This is just so...so childish of you Louise."
"So...I'm the childish one now, huh? Since you are a fan of being a role model to everyone, why won't you try and give some advice to that mucha? I dunno...maybe something about how an ex should act around and stop being a La puta."
"Louise!" He muttered, horrified by her wording. "Take that back now or—"
"Or what, huh? You know what? That wasabi...you deserved it. That's what you get!"
It was a terrible fight.
Ojiro wanted her to apologize to Kaede, which she refused to do, and they ended up both giving each other a cold shoulder for a week.
On the third day, surrounded by her pride, Louise reminded herself.
"Do you really think that would bother me even if you don't text me for a year? Hah! I'm a strong, independent woman. Nothing will stop me from world domination HAHAHA!" She laughed to herself while typing on her laptop, which made her coworkers throw her a weird look.
One and a half minute later...
I said I was sorry, okay?
Who's childish now? Why are you doing this to me?
How long are you going to be like this?
I love you. I need you in my life. I need you to water my dried up garden of sin.
Come back to me, my love, mi cariño, mi amor.
Text me, get mad at me, and send me those disgusting droplets emoji! I don't care!
Louise typed the long begging message but ended up deleting it. She sighed, throwing away her phone.
He would just miss her text because he's busy with the ongoing competition or because he's still mad.
So, she waited for a message, and she only got one when he got back from France, and it was just him reminding her of her next OB appointment.
"Do you feel some changes to your body? Any side effects?" Dr. Dawson asked. She prepared some questions for her before proceeding to the shot.
Ojiro didn't come with her this time because it's the same schedule as his second Grand Prix assignment's drawing ceremony, and there's no way he will miss it, so he assigned Yoshio to drive her to the OB.
Louise can't miss the scheduled shot too because the method requires that every next shot be done on time.
"Uhh...nothing much. Maybe some slight mood swings? I tend to have that more lately."
"Oh, that's normal. Your body would get used to it more," she pricks the syringe just below her shoulders like a vaccine. "In fact, your body reaction to the method is more successful than most of the women who tried it. Kaide suffered from terrible headaches, so she switched to a pill."
Louise looks at her cluelessly.
"W-what?"
"Oh," the doctor gasps, covering her mouth. "Nothing important. Come on, I have a gift for you," she mumbled, tapping an antiseptic on her skin.
***
Nothing important.
Dr. Dawson's words still echo in Louise's mind.
Sound's familiar right? She told herself.
Why are people around me using that word more often now?
She recognized how the doctor switched the conversation upon spilling confidential information. Did she really think Louise's nosy ass would miss that?
No wonder Ojiro was so well informed about birth controls...
It was all dawning on her now.
It's because I'm not the first one he brought with him to the OB.
Louise embraces herself. She suddenly felt cold in the middle of the grand living room of Ojiro's new luxury apartment. Yoshio mentioned to her that it was a property owned by Ojiro's family. The house has a first and second floor with a balcony, located on the top of the apartment's building in Shirokane district. One of Tokyo's most prestigious neighborhoods.
Ojiro just moved in from his apartment in Shiba after it got trespassed by a paparazzi one night she slept over. The man attacked Louise, but he definitely regretted his decision in his life doing that.
He was captured and disarmed after he got hit by a trophy in the head. The place looks like a crime scene.
It's one of the things that kept Ojiro busier, taking up a lot of his time wih all the ongoing interrogation and investigations. It seems like they are finally getting to the bottom of it, and the man is finally in jail, but Ojiro decided to move to another apartment for security purposes.
And they should be staying lay low now, but it's the only time reserved they can be able to finally see each other in their busy schedules.
Louise quietly looks around the luxurious place while waiting for Ojiro to come home from the drawing ceremony.
Why should I be bothered by that?
It's just normal that Ojiro did a lot of firsts with Kaede. She's his first love after all, and that's already in the past.
Right?
Louise did everything that she could, battling all her negative thoughts but still, she couldn't help to feel like the polished marble floor was caving in under her feet.
And then a strong arm hooks around her stomach.
"Hey," she heard Ojiro's voice, pulling her back to reality.
"H-hey!" She squeaks.
They've been together for a while, and he has never failed to give her a heart attack.
He lets out a chortle, tightening his arms around her waist.
I want to slap his face.
"Tadaima," he greeted, kissing her on the shoulder. "I'm home."
Get off of me traitor.
"How's the appointment?" he asked.
"Oh...it's great. Dr. Dawson is so fun. She talked a lot." She smiles at him behind her shoulders. "How about you? How's the ceremony?"
"Mmmm...tsukaretana," he moaned, burying his face into her hair. "Tired."
"You need a goodnight sleep then. Have you eaten dinner? Or do you want to take a bath first?" she asks and caresses his arm.
