Chapter 33.1 : Ice rink Misadventures

"Just mind your posture and stay focused," Kaimen, her classmate's age, repeated to her for the millionth time while coaching her spins, losing his composure.

If Louise finds a new ally, there is always an anti-hero, and it needs to be in the form of a grumpy twelve-year-old.

As far as she remembered, Ichika and Kaimen were already friends before she came. She doesn't know about Kaimen, but he's been giving her the death look since day 1, like she's the most offensive thing he's seen in his life.

Sometimes she wonders how the two children get along really well, as she can feel Kaimen's intense dislike of her. But the poor child ends up just tagging along with them anyway.

She recalled him asking her one time why she even figure skates if she doesn't take it seriously in the first place.

"Look around; everyone in here is working so hard, dreaming of becoming on top someday with Korishima-senshu on the podium. And then there's you who just sleeps around, " he lectured.

Louise actually considered it for a moment. Why does she need to suffer if she can think of all the desperate ways to make Ojiro not attend skating class anymore?

Oscar-winning acting, or simply give him a head.

"I have my own important reason, okay? So, listen carefully."

The two children stood on their skates, waiting for her answer.

"I want to impress my boyfriend."

Kaimen's face automatically crumpled while Ichika's were shining in amazement.

"Hontou? So, you have a boyfriend, onee-chan?" Ichika gasped.

"And what does it have to do with figure skating?" Kaimen asks, crossing his arms.

"What am I thinking, talking to twelve-year-olds?" she muttered. "When you grow up, you'll understand."

"When I grow up, I won't go around chasing girlfriends. I will be an Olympian just like Korishima-senshu, not adults like you who watch too much TV and getting fat!" Kaimen barks.

Louise clasped her breast, feeling so attacked.

What's wrong with this kid?

"He's a figure skater, niño; otherwise, what am I doing here, wasting my time?"

For the first time, his face turns to her with curiosity.

"Really?! What's he like, onee-chan?" Ichika squeals.

"What skating camp did he come from? Are his quads any good? What's his personal best?" Skating is the only thing that interests Kaimen.

Louise flipped her hair and raised her chin proudly.

"Camp Planet Ice, God of quads, Sixty-nine million points," she responds in a thick Spanish accent. "The hottest man on ice. The greatest one. Who else might it be? Someone should match this opulence of mine."

Before she could even go on talking, the two children had already left her, not in a bit believing what she's saying.

"Quit standing there and move!" Kaimen's voice brings her back to reality.

"I'm too pretty to do anything today," she muttered lazily. "Ichika!" she claps her hands, and a moment later, Ichika arrives, skating beside her.

"Hai, shishou!" she stands alertly, handing her a feathered, wide-brimmed hat.

Louise puts the hat on top of her helmet, and the reaction on Kaimen's face can't be described. She won't let the day pass without pissing off the child, and she admits she enjoys that.

"Louisia-nee, that's so cool!" Ichika claps excitedly while she watches her do a vogue pose with the hat.

"Urusai!" Kaimen shouted, which made the two jump in surprise.

"Stop this nonsense and do that jump already. I'm making a report of this to Seiko-sensei and Korishima-senshu."

"What? Why?" Louise asks.

"Uhh, because she's our sensei?" Kaimen responded sarcastically.

"Do you really think I care about that? I mean, Ojiro, why are you making reports to him?"

"Because he's technically our jumping sensei—"

"Oh, this is going to be easy!" She gets rid of her hat fast.

When Louise throws away her sumbreros, things are really getting serious.

The two children look at each other. Ichika clasps her hands worriedly while Kaimen shakes his head, unimpressed.

Louise glides into the wide space of the ice and motions for the stance of a double toe that Kaimen has been teaching her since... she doesn't know.

She stretches her free foot backward and her arm forward.

"Hesukristoresicitado!" She entered a turn, and her left toe pick hit the ice, pushing her to jump, arms crossed on her breast.

The two children's jaws dropped as they watched her spin into the air. Ichika claps her hands on Kaimen's side, cheering for Louise.

And then she falls on her landing, on her back, flat on the ice. Her eyes rolled behind her head, and saliva was oozing out of her open mouth.

"Louisia-nee!" Ichika skates toward her in her rescue, as well as Kaimen.

The two peeks at her while she's lying straight on the ice, not moving. Her hands were still crossed above her chest like a corpse.

"Is she dead?" Kaimen asks, kicking Louise's leg to check.

"Kaimen! Stop it!"

"What? I knew it; she's not going to pull off that one. Why are you always hanging out with this baka anyway?"

Louise's eyebrow arches upon hearing Kaimen. She decided to just stay put in a while, looking like she was dead as an excuse so she could rest.

I almost died. What is this kid thinking?

I swear to all diablos. Two rotations, and I saw a glimpse of my ancestors in the mundo de los muertos waving at me.

What the hell is Ojiro doing, jumping quads like that?

The real monster is living among us.

"She's a cool nee-san, and she's not a baka, okay?

Both Louise's eyebrows go up. She didn't expect her to defend her to Kaimen like that.

"Hiya!" Louise growls as she sits up, making the two kids jump in surprise.

"Louisia-nee!" Ichika claps in delight as she rises up from the dead.

"Satan is not yet ready to give up his throne for me, so he won't let me pass on the other side," she mumbled as the two children helped her stand.

Ojiro arrives, and everyone disperses in a blink of an eye, forming a line in front of him. He greets everyone politely and they all greet him in return.

Without any further ado, he goes straight into the day's activity, calling them one by one to check on their jumps.

Kaimen dominated the challenge easily, leaving Louise in the lowest spot based on the points Ojiro had given them each.

It was like a graded recitation, and with Louise being ranked lowest, she clearly knows she messed up this time.

"I'm happy and satisfied with the output from everyone's hard work," he announces, making the entire class clap for themselves. "Except for Miss Diaz, who hasn't shown a bit of improvement," he added in the cold tone of his professor's voice.
