Chapter 26.1: Sweet Summer Sweat

Nagoya, the capital of Aichi Prefecture is a home of many tourists' attractions like the famous Nagoya castle, Lego Land Japan Resort, Public aquarium at the city's port and many more. Louise gasps behind the car's window, looking around the city's beautiful streets filled with lanterns and people walking around wearing their yukatas.

The city is celebrating the annual summer festival and she heard from Ojiro that there will be a fireworks' display tonight at the city's port as the highlight of the celebration.

He talked to her director, and she doesn't know what kind of black magic he did, but the director allowed her to have a short leave for a vacation in Nagoya.

Though she wanted to explore the whole place with Ojiro, it's impossible for them to do normal couple things. As Ojiro had made clear to her in the first place that their relationship is not going to be a basic kind of dating, which she didn't quite understand at first, but now, everything's slowly making sense to her.

She only received a text from him during a break in his rehearsals at the sports arena, checking on her if she arrived safe and that's it. He disappeared again.

Louise sighs, leaning to her seat beside Atsushi-san, who picked her up at the train station, understanding clearly now on what she learned from other foreigners she know about how workaholic their Japanese boyfriends are.

But she manages to cheer herself up, reminding herself about why she's in Nagoya.

Ojiro reserved a front seat in the ice show for her, and he will be skating to her all-time favorite J-pop singers, a chance she would never let pass.

She arrives at her hotel room, and her jaw drops, looking at the grand, luxurious suite that Ojiro has booked for her. The door opens, welcoming her with a wide view of the city and the giant port Ferris wheel from afar.

The staff that he sent for her knocks at her door for room service, bringing her a variety of Mexican food. She looks at the dishes with gusto while they are served in front of her. Ojiro definitely knows when and how to calm her down.

I'm so sorry. I wish I could take you out for lunch. Ojiro texts her.

Don't think about it Ojiro. Just focus, Okay?

I love the food and the place. Thank you!

Have you eaten? She replied.

I'm glad you liked it.

Not yet. We're almost done with the rehearsal.

I've got to go now.

"He's doing it again," she sighs. Working his ass off. Disappearing like a ninja.

After eating, Louise dips her body in a hot bath the staff has prepared for her in the huge, fancy jacuzzi. They lit the scented candles and mixed the water with liquid fragrance and special oils that they said had healing effects.

"As if that could heal my soul." She thought, but wishes it could, so without hesitating, she submerges her whole body in the hot water.

After taking a bath, another staff member comes and gives her a shiatsu massage. They say it can remove stress, tension, and body aches. After the service, she feels lighter than ever and refreshed while dressing up, ready to conquer the world.

I'm crying. THIS IS HEAVEN. She texts Ojiro.

The massage was officially at the top of her list of favorites in Nagoya.

I know you'll going to love it. He replies.

Can I get this service again next time? Together with you? She asks.

But she didn't get any reply. She glances at the wall clock, thinking that maybe he's already taking a nap now in his hotel room, recharging his monster energy for the show later.

Rest well, cielo <3

The ice show is the most spectacular event that Louise had seen since she started working in Japan. The cast is a group of top skaters, led by her boyfriend known as Japan's "Ice Prince" who totally steals the show not just by pulling off his jumps but also by flexing his charm and by that, she means, his arm muscles and abs while skating to her favorite J-pop girl group 'Harmonica', and seeing them in a collaboration, Louise doesn't know when will she can recover from that.

And the thing that really takes her by surprise is Ojiro, arranging a meet and greet for her with the 'Harmonica' girls behind the stage.

The three girls greet her with cheerful hugs, and she just can't help but to be starstruck.

Dios mios, my God, they're so beautiful!

Everything feels like it was at a fast pace for Louise that before she knows it, the meet and greet is done and it's time to say goodbye to the girls.

A staff told her to wait for Ojiro in the room and she did what she was told, still can't believe that she met 'Harmonica'.

She waits for half an hour before Ojiro arrives, sneaking quickly into the room.

"Hey, I'm sorry for checking on you just now and—"

She rushes to him, crashing him into a tight embrace. She knows it. She knows how hard he tries juggling between work and their relationship, and she has a wide understanding towards it as she herself also belongs to Japan's working class now.

But he doesn't have any idea how Ojiro made her happy at the moment. Louise wants to thank him again and again, but her sobs muffle her words. He caresses her hair to calm her down.

"We're going to watch the fireworks later, together. Will you wait for me?"

She nods to him, teary-eyed and sniffing ugly.

So, while she sits by herself for dinner at the huge dining table inside her fancy room, she waits for Ojiro patiently. She also dressed up in a yukata, a simpler and thinner type of kimono worn by Japanese ladies and men during the summer. She matches it with her hair in a traditional side braid, tied with a pretty ribbon, with the help of the staff Ojiro sent to her room for the service.

He told her he's hosting the after-show dinner party for the skaters and the show producer. He will join her later for the festival's fireworks display, so she just needs to endure a little more before the ice show season for Ojiro is officially over and she can finally have a private time together with him.

Louise can clearly hear the ticking of the clock on the wall. She sighs, dropping the fork on her plate.

She gets up from the table and leaves her room.

Ojiro laughs at his Russian skating mate, trying to tell a joke through his hoarse, tipsy voice, and beside him, the Italian producer of the show taps his shoulder, trying to get him into a conversation, asking about his plans for the next skating season.

He engages in the conversation politely as he pours another bottle of sake in the producer's shot glass. A show's sponsor sits with the producer on the table getting his attention as they laugh, making a toast for the success of the show.

Ojiro glances at his wristwatch. Everyone's seems in a wild mood as they get drunk with the Nagoya's Kunpeki Gunmai Ginjo in their summer festival themed party, wearing their yukata and wooden sandals.

They sit together at a long dining table reserved in the hotel's café with a wide window for them to see the view of the fireworks later.

He looks around for an exit when he spots a familiar face. He looks closer and recognizes Louise, dressed in a pastel pink yukata, who is stuffing her face with sushi as a party staff is assisting her at the food station.

Ojiro almost spits out his drink.
