Chapter 19.1: A Hot Reunion

Louise drinks the last drop of her beer as she checks her wristwatch, sighing in her seat. After the competition, Ojiro skated to the gala exhibition, a part of the World championship event where the selected top skaters will skate for the fans for fun. Then the next day, there was this closing banquet that he told her he needed to attend, it's a formal attire party, marking the closing of the competition

To make adjustments to his tight schedule, they agree to meet in his car as soon as he takes his leave from the banquet.

This is the only time they can finally catch up with each other.

But it's already been almost an hour, and there's still no Ojiro showing up. She's waiting for him all alone, in the darkest part of the parking lot of the hotel where he arranged accommodation for her. That's fine with her though. She needs some time alone to think.

Back in the competition, when they saw Ojiro's name at the top of the score board on the screen, the whole arena erupted in loud cheers. People were celebrating and embracing each other and Louise was standing there, still confused, so she asked the person beside her what the scoreboard meant.

The lady confirmed that he won and then suddenly the lady is crying, everyone was crying. Then she grabbed Louise for a hug that made her even more confused.

The noise inside the arena feels like it won't die anytime soon. They only quieted down when Ojiro stood from his seat in Kiss and Cry and politely signaled them to calm down, and the crowd fell silent in an instant.

They obeyed him just like she did when he commanded her, not to take her eyes off of him and she realized right then, with the power that he holds over anyone, I swear he's a whole other species.

And what does Louise always do if something's bothering her and her brain can't decipher this kind of quadratic equation?

She looks it up on the internet.

Who is Ojiro Korishima exactly?

Louise can't believe she's actually looking up her boyfriend's name on the internet. She remembered googling him once, but her lazy ass didn't really pay enough attention to the thousands of search results. Now, she desperately needs explanations.

She's aware that he's quite famous as an athlete but looking back to what she had seen at that competition, no amount of torn pants and burned tortillas has prepared her for what she had witnessed.

Louise reads the articles she found over and over again just making sure she's reading it right. Ojiro was, in fact, worshipped like a celebrity and idol in Japan.

He was all over the internet. He has this crazy, huge fandom not only inside Japan but from different parts of the world. Not just thousands of fans, but millions. He was being followed by Millions of people.

She also reads that he opened his own sports clothing line not long ago, named after his name, 'Oji', that sold over thousands of pairs of cold wears upon opening and many other unbelievable, shocking, and mind-boggling things that this man can do.

Louise sits straight up on hear seat, lifting the Jacket she's wearing to check and found his name written on the sleeve with big, bold letters. So, he's not just a famous sports icon, he's also a CEO?

Her jaw drops coming to a realization.

She doesn't even know who exactly those names are. She just remembered her papa talking about them as a die-hard sports fan.

As a teenager, she used to pretend to sit with him and watch sports if she only needed something from him, like money or the car keys.

Fuck. How did I miss all of it? Louise understands it now. The body guards, private dates and expensive gifts. Ojiro Korishima is no ordinary person.

Am I really that dumb? Lazy to click on a sports channel? Or is this karma for lying to Papa that the Yankees and Red Sox are cool? Oh, I'm pretty sure this is karma.

And that's not even the end of it. After what she had witnessed in the city, in the streets and at the arena, feeling the overwhelming emotions from the people around her, she's pretty sure Ojiro's not just a random celebrity, but definitely on a whole other level.

Louise clasps her mouth to prevent a gasp. He was like a God to these people.

Louise's one brain cell was still processing everything when the car's door suddenly opens, making her jump from her seat. "Ay! Satanas!" she blurts out.

It turns out it's just her boyfriend, finally appeared. "Sorry for the wait." Ojiro rushes inside the car, closing the door immediately. "The conversation with the sponsors held me a bit." He plops himself down on the driver's seat beside her. "Hi." He turns to her, smiling.

"H-hi!" She squeaks. She doesn't understand why she's suddenly nervous of his presence.

She couldn't see him clearly in the dark, but the city lights outside, reflecting from the car's window, casts a shadow of colors on his handsome face, making him look like a living painting.

He's wearing a formal suit, and his crimson-black hair is still swept back, but a thick strand of his hair has now fallen in his forehead.

"What's wrong?" He immediately sensed her uneasiness.

"Nothing." Her quickness to deny it made him even more curious.

"Is this about what happened in the dressing room?" His tone suddenly becomes serious.

"WHAT? No!", she blurted, and then muttered under her breath. "You could kabedon me whenever the hell you want; I don't care."

"Or is it...because I haven't contacted you for so long?" he murmured.

Actually, she already forgot about that. But she won't mind if they talk about it either since she felt upset about what he did. But now that she understands why he needs to disappear just like that, he doesn't even need to explain.

"It's nothing, Ojiro," she dismisses.

Louise doesn't think she's ready to talk about it. In fact, she doesn't even know what to feel about him now after what she has discovered.

"H-here, I've got something for you!" She hands him a small paper bag, changing the subject completely. "Omedetou! Congratulations!" she claps her hands to him. "Wow! A world champion! Sugoi! That's so great!"

He fishes out the gift inside the bag, a new Kendama in the color of the shade of gold just like his medal.

"You shouldn't have bothered Louise...but this is so pretty! Where did you get this? Arigatou! Thankyou!" His face lightens up in delight and innocence, like he's not the same guy on ice that commanded everyone with just a flick of his skates.

"Just outside the rink." She waves her hand. "You said it helps you relieve stress, and I know you're quite tired from jumping and spinning, you know...like a beyblade. That would be really tiring."

"You mean those sit spins—"

"Dios, redentor, Ojiro." She cuts him, rolling her eyes.

She didn't really know what to get for him, so the moment she saw the Kendama, she purchased it immediately, wishing that he'd already forgotten the accident that happened to him with the toy because of her.

She watches him play with it like a child, like he's not what she had discovered him to be. The God that everyone looks up to. He didn't catch the ball for the trick he's trying, hitting him straight to the eye.

"Aw!" he exclaimed like a girl.

Louise blinks for a moment and then throws her head back in laughter. Not him hitting himself with Kendama this time.

She's laughing way too much like a hooker villain that she is, that made Ojiro throw her a weird look of judgement.

He maybe God or that super famous idol in front of everyone like what the entire world has known him, but for Louise, she finally realizes it never really changes the way how she entirely felt about him.

She can't believe it takes another hit of Kendama in his eye to remind her that he's still the Ojiro that she knew. The man that she loves.
