Chapter Fourteen

~•FISAYO•~

It's been years since my last visit to Daniel's house. It's vast and luxurious. I walk in through the accessible door and several heads turn my direction. The body con dress hugs my skin perfectly, shaping out my curves and I feel comfortable in the airforce.

Dara made me wear a bone straight wig. It's so long it reaches my butt level. I walk down the parlour, looking for a suitable place to just stand and stare at others, probably mind gossiping about them. I finally find one.

I look around. Bounce by Ruger plays and some boys grind against girls, with girls dancing like the adrenaline in their blood could never run out, while others have conversations and few just chill with their phones against their faces. The parlour is quite large so I try to scan with my eyes for Nini. Ka'isha said she can't make it. She's a little under the weather today.

I notice a lot of people eyeing me and I totally expected it. I finally see Daniel and my attempt to hide from him fails dismally as I'm the first person he sets his eyes on as he walks into the parlour.

Those glossy midnight eyes looking like crystals ricocheting the sun's rays, devour my body and suddenly I feel the body con is too exposing but there's no remedy for this much gorgeousness.

"Fisayo," I watch him mouth as he stares at me. His stares make me feel really good about the makeup. Maybe Dara was right. A little exposure is all I need.

I stand up as he heads towards me and he leads me outside the house to the pool area, the music slowly fading. The pool is filled with bright lights and is quite stunning.

"You look gorgeous," he starts and I smile. "I could barely recognize you, well, until I saw that body," he says and we chuckle. He's a sweet talker. "Eye candy," he whispers and my chuckles break into a voiceless laugh. He smiles.

"I still can't believe you asked me to prom," I say demurely and he rolls his eyes, moulding his lips to a thin line.

"I only teased you because I really like you. I had no idea how to tell you. And then I realized that if I don't do something, you might go with Caedon," he says and I nod in realization.

"But I still hate you for always being on my tail!" I say and he laughs. He looks gorgeous while at it. Daniel is strikingly handsome. It takes me now to stare at his facial features. Midnight dark eyes, a dark caramel-skinned complexion, quite a pointed nose and a hair skillfully barbed in a low fade. The eyebrow slit Ka'isha always fantasized about is suddenly my favourite feature in his face. And his braces make him look damn cute.

"I can take that hate away," he says as he walks closer to me. "If you just..." he trails off, taking both hands in his. "Say yes," he finishes off with a smile, his cologne slowly seeping into my nose.

"But... I can't. I - Ka'isha has an unending crush on you. That girl literally talks about you all the time and you act like some stuck-up Greek god. I just can't betray her. I always warned her against you," I say and he laughs lightly, holding his chest while feigning hurt.

"I'll talk to her if you want," he says. I look away, imagining how broken Ka'isha will be if I say yes to Daniel. More, how broken I will be when Wale finds out.

"No, I'll do it," I insist and he nods.

"So, is that a yes?" he asks, his face gleaming with hope I can't bring myself to turn down. Daniel is not bad, but he isn't the one. Caedon is.

I slowly nod and a smile lights up his face. He inches closer to me, I expect him to kiss me but he places a kiss on my cheek. I blush hard, but the racing heart and butterflies... It's just when Caedon is around. Just his perfume is enough to make my skin tingle. It does now.

"What are you doing?" I hear a voice rage. "You're taking advantage of her!" It continues acidly and Wale punches Daniel right at his nose.

"Daniel," I scream as I rush to him on the ground. "He wasn't taking advantage of me. We're dating, Caedon!" I yell at him and I guess realization hits him as he staggers backward.

"Oh, I - " he doesn't say anything more. He leaves with Nifemi trailing behind him.

I help Daniel up and he feels the blood at the side of his mouth. I hand him my little towel from my purse and he cleans the blood off his mouth. "I'm sorry he did that," I say to Daniel. "He's just paranoid," I add with a deep sigh.

He doesn't reply. He grabs my hand in his and leads me back inside the house. I see Wale and Nifemi by the door, laughing. It burns at the depth of my tummy, right where it used to feel good. It feels like all the butterflies died and left a burning sensation every time I see him happy with someone else. Someone that's not me.

"Food?" Daniel asks as he leads me to his kitchen. I see pastries lined up with people having a scoop of each. It looks sumptuous with each leading its scent to my nostrils. Very tempting.

Understand by Omah lay comes on and I can hear it through his loud bass booming speakers. He clutches the plate of pastries and we head to the parlour where sins are being committed. Literally.

Daniel and I walk through the drunk bodies or over adrenaline-secreted girls being ground against horny guys, girls just whining their bass to the rhythm and others just dancing casually. We stay near the stairs, despite the people engaged in tonsil hockey.

"Crazy party," I say to him, stabbing a piece of the samosa with my toothpick and hold it up to my mouth to take a bite.

"It always is," he brags with a chuckle. "You decided to never come to any party I hosted. Why?" he asks and I giggle. "I didn't know you hated me that much," he says and I can't help but burst out laughing.

"You were honestly so annoying," I say, staring straight into his eyes now. It feels more pleasing.

"Were?" he raises a brow. "What about now?" he asks with a shady smirk, taking a sip of the wine.

"Now? Well, a lot less annoying. Maybe more of cute," I say and he snickers. His company is really intriguing. I enjoy it. But it's always gonna be different. There's always gonna be that part of me still craving Wale. And that part comes up now as he walks by with Nifemi.

I can't help but crave to look where they are going. Are they going to a room? Where are they headed?

"I'm coming. I'll just get something," Daniel says and walks up the stairs. It allows me to turn back and see where Wale is. I don't see him anywhere.

Curious, I walk up the stairs. The corridor is full of different doors and I'm wondering which to open first. I'm about to open one when I hear Wale's seductive baritone. I tilt my head to the right and watch him walk out of a room with Nifemi.

What are they doing?

I watch Nifemi leave him and go downstairs. I'm about to follow her when Wale calls my name. I expected it. With a cringe clouding my features, I slowly turn back. "Yeah?"

"You look ravishing," he says with a smile. I can't help but bite my lower lip, feeling completely lost in his eyes I can't stop staring at now. The butterflies reanimate and appear at the depth of my tummy, automatically making my cheeks redden.

"Thanks," I reply in almost a whisper.

"The dress... It suits your body perfectly," he says and I yearn to reach so close to him to plant a kiss on his lips. I can't. I smile.

"Yeah, Dara chose it," I say and he nods. "And how's Nifemi?" I ask, hoping he says she caught AIDs and is due to be buried in a week. I exhale.

"Well, she's good," he says with a chuckle. What's making him chuckle? Does the mere thought of her make him smile now?

Idiot.

"I have to go now. I think Daniel may be looking for me," I tell Wale with a smile. His eyes anchor on my body as I turn to go. I can feel them.

"I'll drop you after the party and we could hang out?" he suggests and I really want to go with his plans but I can't.

I suck my teeth, already feeling bad I'm going to turn him down. "Daniel will do just that," I say and watch him thread a hand through his hair. All the more I yearn for him. "Maybe sometime," I add.

"Sure," he says with a half shrug and I walk away, downstairs. I meet Daniel at the foot of the stairs and he has something in his hands and a charming smile crumpling his face a bit.

"Where did you go?" Daniel asks.

"Got bored. Had to do something," I say. "Take a call," I add, to make it a bit believable. He nods.

"Okay, I just wanted to give you this," he says and hands me a black shiny box. I open it and see a beautiful silver-coloured charm bracelet. "Pandora" I read the brand imprinted on the cream pillow which grips the bracelet in place.

"It's pretty. But you really didn't have to," I say with a smile. "But I love it," I add and he helps me put it on. Just then, Wale walks down the stairs. I cough a bit at the awkward situation.

"I would say let's dance but you're obviously not much of a dancer," Daniel says and I can't help but laugh loudly.

"You're right. But you're a professional dancer, so you're gonna teach me," I say and he grabs my hand, leading me to the dance floor. Dumebi by Rema plays and Daniel moves his body skillfully to the rhythm of the song. I just nod my head while hyping his dance with ay's and Go-Danny's.

It's so much fun till I see Wale walk out of the door with Nifemi. Now I want to know where they're headed.
