Chapter 2
Sole POV
The line was unbearable. After two hours of just standing there in the cold we were finally let into the large club. Music blasting, lights flashing left and right nonstop.
I rub my arm uncomfortable with all the people talking, dancing and grinding on each other. Dylan being the hoe he is, drags me to the bar and buys me a drink before getting hit on by a guy and going off with him.
I sit down with my tall glass of multicolored liquid and take a sip recoiling slightly at the tanginess and alcohol. I look around, mostly watching people and their behavior.
Daila POV
Earlier
I get changed into my pain black uniform with the club I work at logo on the back glancing at the time while pulling my combat boots on. 8:30pm. Crap, I'm late. I grab my wallet and phone striding out the door and getting into the car.
I pull up to the club and flash my employee card to the bouncer, the people already in line giving me a dirty look until they see I work here. I chuckle at the frivolity of these people. So much makeup and revealing sparkly clothes. I walk to the bar starting to set up, my boss waving excitedly. I guess she has reason to be, there will be plenty of customers tonight.
Julia, my coworker, is going to do the first round of customers and me the second. It is incredibly dark in the club even when the lights come on for the customers. I watch the partygoers as they grind and sway to the music. It is disgusting, the moral looseness as I watch complete strangers dance. I snap out of my haze watching the people as Juila taps my shoulder signaling it is time for my shift. I put my mask on and I walk to it starting to pour drinks.
Sole POV
I finish my drink and I wait for the new bartender to come over to order another. She is tall, at least taller than me with darkish skin from what I can tell with the lights, her curly hair up in a ponytail, a mask on her face mixing drinks for customers. She comes over and leans on the counter.
"what can I get you?" her voice was deeper than expected with a slight natural raspiness to it.
I make eye contact with her. "A blue lagoon please..." she nods and goes to make the drink, staying close as customers slow down, choosing to go to the other bar tables. She hands me the drink and cleans a little. I'll admit I stared at her a little. She seems to grin when she catches me staring at the corners of her eyes crinkling a little.
"Like what you see?" My face starts to burn and I look back down to my drink.
"Sorry."
She shrugs "I don't mind. But you do look a little out of place. What's an attractive thing like you sitting alone for?"
"Uhm...just here with my friend...but he is off somewhere with some guy."
She leans on the counter again, resting her chin on her hand just looking at me. I look at her.
"What?" she shrugs again.
"I don't know. You look familiar." she cocks her head slightly to the side.
I shake my head "you do too but I haven't been here before so..." she sighs and stands up.
Some customers come over and order drinks and she moves to serve them. After she finishes she takes off her mask to take a sip of water. The recognition clicks in my head. It's Dalia, the woman from the app.
