Yuta stayed sitting next to WinWin for a few more minutes in the silent dark room. He lightly rubbed WinWin's back to comfort him.
"Thanks, Yuta," WinWin finally spoke up, seeming a bit reluctant to thank him. However, he wanted to let Yuta know that he appreciated the company.
"It's not a problem," Yuta reassured him. "I'm here to talk whenever you need it, and I vow to always keep you safe. You'll never get hurt on my watch ever again."
"It's nice to have someone looking out for me." WinWin let out a breathy laugh. There was almost a hint of pain behind it. "Considering I can't look after myself."
Yuta gave the boy a smile despite him not being able to see it. "Are you ready to go back and eat?"
WinWin slowly exhaled. "I guess so."
Yuta stood up from the edge of the bed and gently grabbed WinWin's arm, who didn't push his touch away. "Is someone warming up to me?" Yuta whispered, his smile audible in his voice.
"Shut up," WinWin whispered back as he stood up next to Yuta. "But I guess you're a good friend to have around."
"Will you actually let me call you WinWin without being an ass about it?" Yuta questioned.
WinWin let out a soft laugh. "Whatever."
The two made their way back into the dining room, where WinWin's mom was cleaning up empty plates. Her attention came up to the boys and she smiled sweetly. "Are you still hungry, darling?"
WinWin nodded, pressing his lips together. "We'll quickly finish up." He began to shuffle his feet toward the dining table before Yuta led him the rest of the way there.
"Don't be afraid to finish it all," Yieun told Yuta from the kitchen while grinning. "You too, Winnie."
Yuta pulled out the chair for WinWin and helped him sit down. "How well can you eat without being able to see?" Yuta asked WinWin. "I hope that isn't offensive."
WinWin shook his head. "It's fine. I guess I'm not that bad at it." He shrugged. "It just makes me a slow eater."
Yuta nodded, taking his seat next to WinWin. He watched WinWin fumble for his chopsticks, but was able to properly hold them. It was a bit of a clumsy sight, but WinWin could pick up the food. His ability to complete certain tasks always seemed to amaze Yuta.
Though, as the food on his plate started to become more scarce, WinWin struggled a bit to find his where the pieces were. Yuta had finished his food at that point, but waited patiently for WinWin.
"You don't have to wait for me," WinWin told Yuta.
"But I'm still eating," Yuta lied.
WinWin huffed a laugh. "Yeah, right. I don't hear your chopsticks."
Yuta picked up his chopsticks, quickly tapping them on his plate to even them out. Then, he reached over to pick up a piece of chicken from WinWin's plate that he had been struggling to find. "Open up," Yuta told him, teasingly.
WinWin lowered his eyebrows. "Don't you dare—"
Before WinWin could finish, Yuta brought the food to WinWin's mouth and made him take the piece of chicken. "Wow, you're such a good eater," Yuta cooed. "Do you want some more chicken?" He picked up another piece with the chopsticks.
WinWin swallowed his food. "I'm not a baby." He tried to fight back his laugh.
Yuta fed him another piece, but WinWin wasn't as reluctant to take it that time. He eventually gave in to Yuta feeding him the rest of his food.
"Awe, you cleaned your plate," Yuta celebrated while fluffing up WinWin's hair. "You're such a good boy."
"You're so annoying," WinWin chuckled, shoving his hand away.
Yuta felt a burst of joy seeing that he made WinWin laugh. A bright smile surfaced on his face. "I'll take these to the sink," Yuta offered before collecting the plates, cups, and utensils.
Yuta stacked everything together and made his way to the sink, where Mrs. Kang was washing dishes. "Hi, dear," she greeted. "You can set those on the counter."
"Let me help you." Yuta made his way over to Mrs. Kang to was to wash the dirty dishes.
A look of admiration showed on her face. "You don't have to do that."
"It's no problem." Yuta picked up the next plate and began to scrub. "I always clean the dishes at my house. I've gotten pretty good at it."
Mrs. Kang laughed, taking the job of drying and putting them away. "That's very nice of you."
Yuta shrugged. "Whatever I can do to help out."
"You're such a good influence for my kids," she whispered, gently pinching his arm. "You're welcome to come over for dinner anytime. Don't be a stranger, love."
Yieun returned to the kitchen and widened her eyes to see Yuta helping out with the chore. "Is Yuta turning into our maid or something?" she joked as she began to fill up a bottle with water.
"I didn't want to leave your mother with all these dishes."
"You should be taking notes." Mrs. Kang pointed a spoon at Yieun before putting it in its proper place.
After all the dishes had been cleaned and put away, Yuta checked the clock. It was starting to get late, and he hoped that his father wasn't going to be mad at his absence all day. Even though he was now in college, his father still expected Yuta to be present at home when he was on break. "I should probably get going."
"It was so nice to meet you," Mrs. Kang told Yuta, taking his hand caringly. "Please come again soon."
"Yes, any friend of WinWin is a friend of ours," Mr. Kang added.
Yuta gave them a short nod and smile. "I'll say my goodbye to WinWin and then head out. Thank you for dinner."
WinWin was seated in the living room next to Yieun as the TV played. "I'm heading out. It was nice to meet your parents and have dinner with you both."
"Thanks for coming." Yieun beamed.
"See you later," WinWin added.
"Is that you hinting at wanting to hang out again soon?" Yuta asked WinWin.
The corners of WinWin's mouth fought back a smile. "As I said earlier... you're so annoying." He paused. "But yeah, let's hang out again soon."
