The bluish grey she kit looked up, scared as the tom unsheathed his claws, preparing to kill her parents. A golden tom and a black she cat lay on the ground, only heartbeats until their deaths. "Remember Rain..." The she cat began. "Remember we love you..." The kit, Rain widened her eyes and whimpered. "Ready?" The huge tom sneered. The golden tom held his sneering gaze and closed his eyes. "Yes, Insanity" he murmured softly. Insanity flicked his tail to his supporters. "Kill them." He growled. For a heartbeat, the only thing Rain sensed was screaming, claws and blood. Then Insanity's supporters moved back and Rain's parents were dead.

Dark clouds covered the moon as Rain planned her escape. Sneaking out so no cat could sense her, she moved swiftly and soon felt fresh wind curling around her. I'm free. She thought as she breathed it in. But then she frowned, because she knew the rogues would find her here, so she took it one level further and crawled to the forest.

A young tom strolled through the forest, enjoying the crisp air, when he smelled something odd. A kit! His mind whirled as the scent came over him. I don't recognize it. He thought. Then, he could only just make out the silhouette of a small kit, fast asleep. Poor thing. He thought as he picked her up gently. I'm going to bring her to camp.
