Shadows (1)
Austria, 1945
"Schnell, schnell! Idioten."
One of the last remaining Hydra bases was evacuating, and fast. The SSR could come to take them in any minute, and they did not wanted to let that happen.
"Herr Reinhardt, glauben sie nicht dass es besser war-"
The man who had been yelling to his soldiers, looked to his right, to find a blond young woman in Hydra uniform. Her name was Liesl von Leicherschnatz, one of the few women on this base. They weren't allowed easily, but Liesl... She was special.
"I am sorry, but if they don't listen to me, neither will they do to you, Leicherschnatz."
"Entschuldigung, Herr Meierhardt," she replied.
"Lieutenant," he said softly, to a man at one of the trucks. "I don't think I have to remind you that the clock is ticking?"
"They are almost done loading. Herr Reinhardt, I fear herr Schmidt-"
"Oh, there is no reason to fear. He's dead. However, his vision is not. Hydra has done enough work to manage this. How is the obelisk?"
"They're bringing it out now."
"Carefully, I hope?"
A Hydra soldier came out with something from iron on a wooden plate.
"I don't understand," the lieutenant replied. "I thought we had only found artifacts?"
"Not everything we dug out of the ground was an antique, my friend," Herr Reinhardt answered. "Some of it was quiet advanced."
The lieutenant looked around the place, to some... 'people.'
"Is this the reason these men-"
"Ja. Sir. Reinshold said it may hold the answer. The answer to death itself."
An explosion sounded, bigger then the ones they were used to. The gates of the base blew open, and an armed woman walked in, accompanied by some men.
"Leicherschnatz!" The woman yelled. Leicherschnatz, who had been with herr Meierhardt and the lieutenant... Her eyes started to glow bright white.
"Wir müssen schluss machen mit unseren Spiel," she smiled evilly.
One of the men who had entered the base, punched a Hydra soldier in the face with his weapon.
"I don't stay for ever."
"Gutentag boys," one of the other men said. "Nice and calm, no sudden moves, or we will tie your blasting cap to your... Hey Dougan, what's the german word for nuts?"
"Bälle," Leicherschnatz replied. "Die andere Frau und ich werde Ihnen persönlich Kastrieren, wenn Sie nicht brav sind."
"Couldn't have said better myself," Carter replied. "But now... Put the thing down."
Meierhardt dropped the wooden plate nice and slowly.
"These assets are now under the protection of the Strategic Scientific Reserve, they will be relocated and hidden in side, indefinitely. As will you."
"Cut of one head, and two more shall grow in its place," Meierhardt answered.
"Then I guess we will keep cutting them off," Carter replied.
"And that's the moment I get to play with you," Leicherschnatz replied. "In the name of my people, we are going to have so much fun."
She handcuffed him, and brought him to a special car.
"I know a lot of people who would love it to pay me lots of money, just to stab you once."
*
A car drove into the playground, and a group of people came out, busy chattering.
"Coulson knows Hartley. She is the only person on the team he trusts-"
"But why did you break silhouette protocol?"
"Orders."
"I'm doing sollid cover with agents taking us-"
"But we-"
"HOW FOR GODS SAKE IS IT POSSIBLE-"
They fell silent.
"Oh no," Skye murmled. "This can't be possible."
Hartley and Hunter looked at her.
"What do you mean?"
"BY ALL THE FREAKING ASGUARDIAN GODS, HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO END UP LIKE-"
Tripp started to grin. "Yup. Definetely her."
"Who?" Idaho asked.
"You'll find out in a few seconds."
They hold their lanyards in front of a sensor, and when the door opened, the sound was even louder. It came from upstairs, while Koenig was waiting at the end of the stairs, while looking up to the door of Coulson his office.
"What... How long-"
"Thirty minutes," he said.
"Who is giving who a sermon?" Hunter asked.
"Oh, the director is getting one," Koenig replied. Skye could see he was worried. Fortunately, he had never had the chance to met her. Until now.
"Yeah, but from who? And since when is he actually here?"
"Believe me-"
"Don't ask," May replied, who came in through the kitchen. "You don't want to know. And when you do know, you will regret that you know."
"O...Kay?"
"You know... When the director is done with this 'thing,' he wants you for debrief up in his office," Koenig continued. "Just agent May, which seems safer to me right now."
"Good luck," Hartley grinned. "Whoever is upstairs, talking to the director like that... Don't hope to piss the man off when I meet him."
"Actually, Hartley," May said, "It's a woman who is talking to him like that."
Hartley her eyes became great.
"Really?"
"Oh yeah," skye replied.
Upstairs, a door closed with a bang, and someone tramped down from the stairs.
May, Skye, and Tripp, all of them had learned not to Judge on the outside. At the end of the stairs stood a blond woman, with black leather boots, jeans, black leather jacket, and a t-shirt with a skull on it. Not to forget the sunglasses.
The young woman didn't look as the Nyla Sanchez they were used to know, because the Nyla Sanchez they knew was a woman with black hair, and a black skin. But there was one person in the universe who could curse like this.
"New look girl?" Tripp asked. The expression on the young woman her face, something what had been a mix between anger, revenge, and cantankerous, changed. She started to smile.
"Trip!"
She laughed, and they embraced eachother.
"You didn't change a bit. How are you doing?"
"I'm doing fine. How are you doing? What's up with the new look?"
"Ugh, Hydra, you know. I'm glad to see you again, something I CAN'T say from EVERYONE here. WHAT THE HELL WERE ALL OF YOU THINKING?!"
Hunter, Hartley, and Idaho were looking like they were watching a tennis game.
"I AM GONE FOR A FREAKING WHILE, AND SKYE CHANGES INTO A COPY OF MAY, COULSON BECOMES SOMETHING I REALLY DON'T LIKE, AND- gosh May, I really like the change," she continued, much more nicer. "You're much more kind now, instead of lady hate-fu. Oh yeah, where was I? NOT TO SPEAK ABOUT HOW ALL OF YOU ARE THREATING FITZ."
"Hartley, Idaho, Hunter, may I introduce, agent Nyla Sanchez," May said. Sanchez hissed to her, litterally, and made a movement with her hand, what caused some plates in the kitchen to break.
"What the-"
Idaho, who had been all surprised, wanted to drink some of his beer, but the bottle flew out his hand, right to Sanchez.
"Thank you, I just needed that."
She drank from it, putted it down on the ground, and left the room.
"Did we forget to mention she has abillities?" Skye said. Hartley and Hunter looked at each other, while Tripp started to laugh.
"Before you ask, she is the only one who isn't on the index," Tripp said.
"Why's that?" Idaho asked.
"Last agent who tried that, ended up death. Twenty two times," Skye answered.
