Face my enemy (14)
Her booths were very easy to hear on the iron of the plane. Sanchez had been talking with her brother for a very long time, before he had returned back to his "operation," at Hydra headquarters.
He had been right, some how. She hated it, but yeah, he had been right. The time had come to think about theirselves right now. Their own plan. Whatever the costs.
When she came upstairs, she could hear Hunter loudly tell one of his "ex-wife" stories. The poor guy never stopped.
"I'll kill you if you talk about the she-devil one time more."
Everyone in the briefing room almost jumped through the roof.
"Djeez, don't do that ever again," Skye said, something what made Sanchez grin. At the same moment, the screen came back to life. May and Coulson were checking in.
"Hey guys."
"Best timing ever," Mack said.
"Talbot is here."
A lie, Sanchez knew. Right that moment, she could feel the life force of Glenn Talbot in one of the army bases. Who ever they had faced at that seminair (oh yeah, she had been up to date. Coulson and May were on a undercover op for Coulson his alien writing), it was definitely not Talbot. She had an idea who it was, but she wasn't allowed to tell, unfortunately.
"Talbot talbot?"
"What the hell is he doing there?" Hunter asked.
"No idea. Only matters that our cover is at risk, so I am calling it now. We're not gonna wait later to get the painting. We're gonna get it now."
After a while, Coulson and May continued their op again, and Skye went to Sanchez.
"You know how important this is to him," she whispered. "Please, if you know something-"
Sanchez ignored her completely, and left the room, to her old bunk on the bus. She did something no common SHIELD agent would have done. She grabbed "The Hunger Games" out one of the cases under her bed, and she was just at the part were Katniss entered the arena, when someone knocked on the door.
"Really? You are reading some stupid Young-Adult crap, while we're in the middle of an operation? Who are you, Iron man?"
She had expected Fitz, Skye, or maybe even Tripp, but she had not expected Hunter to enter her bunk.
"I am reading with reason. It helps me think."
"Oh yeah?" He replied.
"Yeah. And I just figured out that you should shut your mouth."
"Who are you to tell me to shut my mouth? You know Sanchez, there is something I don't understand."
Sanchez closed her book, and stood up from her bed.
"And that is, pretty boy?"
"You are the only person who can give Coulson an angry speech. If you say you're gonna do something, he says yes before you've even finished. That's not normal, and I want to know why."
She rolled her eyes, pushed Hunter out of the way, and went to the main part of the plane. She sat down next to Mack, who was also reading a book, and she had just reached the part were Katniss almost died of dehydration, when people started to talk. And Fitz... He just stood silently in a corner.
"Come," Sanchez said. She grabbed his arm, and pulled him to another part of the plane.
"How's Henry?"
"Good, but-"
"Do you have your sax with you?"
"Yes, but-"
"Good. We'll need it."
Sanchez had pulled Fitz into a Saxophone\Violin jam session, and she hoped it had helped him. He was feeling all alone because of Simmons. She felt sorry for him.
"Feeling better?" She asked.
"Yeah... I... Thank you."
"Good. Music makes you forget all your concerns. That is what I've learned, through the years."
Fitz said nothing. But she knew what he was thinking.
"I saw you were feeling alone. I don't want you to feel alone Fitz. I've been alone plenty of times. It is a horrible feeling. And again... It is not up to me to heal you, unfortunately. I'm sorry."
As an answer, he smiled softly.
"I know. I know. Thank you."
"We-"
Someone entered the plane. She could feel it. And from the life energy...
It wasn't May. It was one of Hydra's little dogs.
Views in her mind. Memories from long ago.
"The asshole," she growled.
"What?" Fitz asked.
"Nothing," she replied. "It appears to be that May has returned from the operation. I think it is best if we go to the others."
Fitz nodded, and they went to the main part of the plane, where Coulson was talking with the others. He was surprised to see her.
"Sanchez? I thought you-"
"Don't ask, look over there, there's your counterpart."
At the same moment, May came in.
"May, we're just figuring out-"
"Good. Coulson?"
May took Coulson to the briefing room, and at the same moment, Sanchez tried to figure something out to get to her. Quickly, sh had an idea.
After all those years... She hadn't thought about him for a second. But now she was actually thinking... It made sense. With the future, it definitely made sense.
It seemed they were done talking, and when Coulson had just left the room, Sanchez pushed May back in.
"Sanchez, what the-?"
"I am sorry Coulson, but there is an very urgent matter I have to discuss with May," Sanchez said quickly. "And it can't wait. It is about the "I can't talk about this" thing."
Coulson made a face.
"Okay, but make it quick. We need to move."
Coulson left, and May looked at Sanchez.
"What is it you wanted to speak with me about?" She asked. Damn, she was good in keeping up her cover. But fortunately, Sanchez was better. Oh, she was much and much better.
"Agent May, I know you speak chinese... Do you actually speak german?"
"No, I don't."
"Good. I have something for you. But please... Can you read it after tonight?"
Sanchez gave her an envelop, and May nodded.
"Of course."
"Well then."
May left the briefing room, leaving a smiling Sanchez behind.
