By the time morning came, I still hadn't stopped sobbing uncontrollably.  It was so surreal.  Chara was my best friend--my ONLY friend--and now they were gone at the claws and teeth of the one who killed me.  My worst enemy.  My worst nightmare.

I was still sobbing when Asriel woke up, but he didn't know.  He couldn't see me.

He looked over.  "Morning, Chara."

... Chara didn't respond.

"... Chara...?"

Still, no response.  He slowly went over and froze when he saw how pale they were.

"CHARA!"

He started shaking them.  "Chara, please!  Wake up!"

No matter what he tried, Chara never woke up.

It broke my heart just watching.  I related to Asriel so much.  Chara was a best and only friend to him as well.  Seeing that being ripped away for an unknown reason is hard.

He called for Toriel and Asgore.  Not even they could comfort him.

When they left, Chara's soul rose above their body.  Asriel looked at it as it began to crack.  He froze and quickly absorbed it.

Chara faintly appeared near their body.  I froze and looked at them.

"Chara?" 

They looked at me.  "Askush..!" they said happily.

Asriel hesitated.  "You two know each other?" he asked.  I squeaked and hid behind Chara nervously.

They hesitated and nodded.  "I met him a few days after I met you.."

"Oh."

I finally peeked out of hiding.  Asriel looked at me.  "I won't hurt you, y'know."

I relaxed slightly, but was still nervous.  "..sorry.."

"You did nothing wrong." Chara said.

I whimpered, but they hugged me.  I hugged back.  It felt nice.  I was glad I could finally actually hold them and not just pretend to.

Asriel looked away.  "...well, we might as well carry out the plan." he said quietly.

Chara sighed.  "Yeah...sorry Azzie.."

"It's fine..but how'd you die if you didn't eat the pie?"

My ears went back.  Chara started shaking.

"...l...long story..."

I whimpered as I remembered the bloody scene.  My worst nightmare, tearing apart my only friend.  They didn't stand a chance against THEM.

"... okay then?" Asriel muttered, confused.

Chara nodded, still shaking.

Asriel started walking off.  I froze from surprise as I got dragged, my eyes wide.  Chara, on the other hand, ran to keep up with Asriel.

Asriel looked at me.  "Are you okay?" he asked.

I just nodded and got up, then sprinted to catch up...but went too far and fell backwards.

Chara giggled.  "Heh, are you really okay, Askush?" they asked.

I groaned a complaint as Chara went over and helped me up.  "Thanks..."

"No problem."

Asriel resumed going to the surface.  Chara and I followed, barely managing to keep up.

When we arrived there, the humans stared at us.

They were not happy.

They started attacking Asriel.  I froze and cringed away, terrified.

Chara glared at the humans.

"Azzie!  Hurry!"

"But-"

"C'mon!"

He shook his head.

"Azzie, they're trying to kill you!"

His response surprised me.

"I won't hurt them."

Chara was not happy now.

"BUT-"

"...no buts..."

"AZZIE!"

He set their body down on the golden flowers and began limping away.

I looked at both him and Chara sadly.

"...Azzie..." Chara said, concerned.

Asriel said nothing.  Chara just sighed.

"...I'm sorry, Azzie..."

"...it's not...your fault..." Asriel said weakly.

My sadness turned to concern.  "... at least THEY didn't kill him..." I whispered.

"...yeah...but he got killed by humans...the second worst monsters ever..." Chara said quietly.

I nodded sadly.

Asriel had barely made it back.  Asgore was outside watering the flowers.

"...d....a......d......"

Asgore hesitated and looked over, then froze.

Asriel smiled weakly.  "I'm...s.....o........r..........r..........y........."

Chara "hugged" Asriel just before he slowly turned to dust.

I stared, horror and sadness welling up inside me as I watched him go and Asgore slowly walk over to the dust in disbelief. 

This didn't last long as Chara and I started fading.

"...well...this is goodbye for us too..." Chara said quietly.  "...thank you both for being my friend..."

I looked at them sadly.  "..thank YOU for being MY friend..."

They smiled a little before disappearing completely.

I looked down and did the same.

Then, everything was dark.
