"JAIL BREAK"

The three of them made their way down the corridor as the alarms blared loudly over them.

Kenna somehow felt drained physical and mentally after having just released a part of the dark magic inside her and the fight she had to control it to save Tina.

Newt had in his hand one of his creatures he named Swooping Evil, a name it didn't bring good thoughts, but he knew the butterfly-like creature would help them in this situation as they came across a group of Aurors with their wands up. Being a wizard and not having your wand was like a one way ticket trip to your dead if your opponent knew you were a wizard.

To avoid being struck by the spells as they didn't have their wands, none of them knew wandless magic and Kenna's obscurus was a no-no answer, besides the woman looking as if she had no more strength, Newt unleashed the Swooping Evil while the three of them hid behind pillars as some aurors managed to sent spells into their direction.

The Swooping Evil managed to avoid spells left and right, knocking aurors down while Kenna watched in awe. Though she grimaced while it tried to probe one of the auror's ears, creepily she may add.

They run forward, Newt clicking his tongue to grab the creature's attention "Leave his brains! Come on, come on!"

Kenna couldn't help but chuckle as the creature obeyed with what she thought was a disappointed screech. She shook her head in amusement as she followed behind Tina and Newt, the Swooping Evil working as a shield to cover them against more aurors before they could sent spells at them as they continued running.

"What is that thing?" Tina questioned panting as they ran.

Kenna peered at the creature who was still behind them covering them but glanced forward making sure she wouldn't trip.

It had happened to her before and it's embarrassing. Not to say dangerous if you're being chased down by dark wizards or trolls.

"Swooping Evil" Newt answered.

Kenna looked forward at him grinning quirking a brow in amusement.

"I love it" Tina answered looking behind her shoulder at the creature.

Kenna smiled in agreement, looking behind her shoulder but had to look back forward as she crushed against Newt's back.

Newt and Tina had rounded the corner almost crashing into two more people. Kenna's heart pounded loudly as she peered over Newt's shoulder seeing happily two faces. One she recognized, the other not.

As the other two looked happy to see them, Kenna sighed in relief burying her head on Newt's shoulder.

Newt looked back at the brunette witch and couldn't help but feel sympathetic.

The blonde, short haired woman, Tina's sister Queenie had Newt's case on her hand and she raised it for them to see "Get in" she commanded with a small smirk.

The perfect way to break out of jail.

~8~

Kenna didn't know the blonde woman, but she was completely grateful for her quick thinking on saving them, even thought she didn't exactly deserved it for what she did at the Death Cell.

She was a monster.

Kenna sat on the edge of the building peering down at the empty street below her, the sight of the rooftop the woman had brought them to after breaking them out of jail looked over all the city but Kenna focused down, a frown on her face as the chaos the Obscurus, her obscurus created on the Death Cell was still on her mind. There was a pigeon coop set up in the back where Kenna could hear the little animals filling the air with their cooing noises relaxing her slightly.

Queenie and Jacob where talking behind her about pigeons and owls but she had tuned them out. Her hands were on her lap as she kept her gaze down on the street.

Newt looked over at the quiet Kenna. He could understand now why she was so quiet all the time when he tutored her at Hogwarts. She feared emotions would release the dark magic inside her. He couldn't blame her. He knew what an obscurus was capable of. But that didn't stop him from wanting her to at least talk to someone about it. After they entered the case, she shut herself up, retreating back to the girl he met for the first time.

Kenna was three years below him. And when he was told she needed a tutor for Care of Magical creatures, Newt couldn't resist. He was told the ravenclaw had no interest in the class, he knew he had to do something about it. If he wanted other wizards to understand creatures like he did, he had to start somewhere, right? And Kenna was his start and though he was warned about the quiet nature of the younger students, he paid no attention. He knew how to treat quiet but he wasn't ready for what he came across. He was usually socially awkward and still surprised Leta Lestrange had befriended him in the first place. But Kenna? She was even worse socially. He had to repeat himself several times for the girl to look at him. He had no idea why she needed a tutor, she knew everything he asked her to, except the advanced classes he sometimes liked to quiz her about to keep her interested.

However, there was just one thing and maybe he should have paid attention closely to it. The way she never used her wand nor used magic for simple things like carrying her books or cleaning up wjere they sat (Newt usually did so), how she got reprimanded several times by some professor for not doing a spell correctly.

Kenna had been an enigma to Newt for some time. She had trouble socializing, but witj creatures? She seemed to have a knack for them. She spoke to them more than with people, than with him. He used that as a technique, he began talking about creatures and allowed her to ask her questions. He never pressured for an answer. He should have known what was the reason for all of this.

It was in front of him all the time. The way she gripped her hands harder, her posture, the flinching he sometimes noticed when someone raised their voice.

It was for her, he realized, holding back a gasp that he developed an interest for Obscurus.

Newt slowly walked forward to where Kenna was siting and noticed how she unconsciously hid her hands on her lap. There was a small ash coloring surrounding them, flickering in and out of focus until it disappeared completely.

"Kenna?" Newt spoke slow and low as to not startle her, besides that if she did she could have an immediate death because she was so close to the edge he feared she was doing it on purpose. Kenna didn't look up, but the movement of her eyes quickly glancing at him and again at the ground made him realize she was listening. He didn't know her personally after all this time but he knew what was on her mind that kept her quiet "It wasn't your fault"

Kenna pursed her lips finally looking up at Newt "No. It was the Obscurus' fault, huh?" Newt nodded not knowing what she exactly meant "The obscurus is inside me so guess what?" she gave him a look, shaking her head, looking away "It is really my fault"

Newt sighed, "Kenna..."

"Admit it, Newt" Kenna said, using for the first time his name. Newt blinked in surprise. "You're afraid of me. Tina's afraid. Her sister, she's a legilimens, isn't she?" They glanced toward Queenie and Jacob. Kenna chuckled softly, bitterly "She knows. And she's afraid. If Jacob knew what I am, what I'm capable of... If he knew I'm like the obscurus who killed Senator Shaw, he'd be afraid too. Everyone's afraid of obscurials like me, they-"

"

They're afraid about what they don't understand" Newt interrupted for the first time, placing a hand in her shoulder "But I do. I try. We're not afraid of you" He tried to meet her eyes, both surprised for the action. "I'm not afraid of you"

"I'm not either" Tina's voice said from behind them. Kenna looked over her shoulder at her "Yes, I'm surprised you were an obscurial all this time" she lowered her voice not knowing if she wanted someone else to hear, thing Kenna appreciated as she glanced over her shoulder at Queenie and Jacob. The witch, obviously hearing if using Legilimency on her sister's thoughts. "But I'm not afraid, Kenna"

Tina had time to come to terms with Kenna being an obscurial and found out she couldn't be afraid of her as the woman feared herself. She couldn't do that to her, adding more to her shoulders.

Kenna felt gratefulness at that moment over the two other wizards and looked away as a tear fell from her eye. Emotions were dangerous.... she took a deep breath closing her eyes.

Newt pursed his lips at that, it wasn't healthy what she was doing, bottling up her feelings. He didn't have the chance to comment on it.

"Graves always insisted the disturbances were caused by a beast" Kenna began changing the subject, probably noticing she would get an ear about how she deal with her problems "We need to catch all your creatures so he can't use them as a scapegoat"

Newt didn't exactly agree on the woman's change of subject but she was right. He needed to make sure his creatures were fine. He made a quick count on his mind about the creatures missing and the ones he had recovered "There's only one missing" he began slowly, "Dougal, my Demiguise"

Newt and Kenna locked eyes and Kenna couldn't help the annoyed sigh leaving her lips. Newt grimaced, realizing she knew what he meant.

Kenna's mind traveled to what she had learned at Hogwarts about the creature.

"Dougal?" Tina questioned, amused.

"How do you come up with their names?" Kenna questioned, as if more to herself than Newt.

Newt shifted uncomfortably "Slight problem is... that, um-"

Kenna looked at him at that sighing in exasperation "Dear Merlin..." she drawled out crossing her arms. All sign of sadness and low self-esteem gone as she peered up at him in annoyance

"... He's invisible" Newt confessed sending an uneasy smile at Kenna's direction and looking away from both women.

"Invisible?" Tina repeated in disbelief

"Yes, most of the time" Newt answered sheepishly "He does some um..."

"How do you catch something like that?" Tina asked.

Kenna stood from the edge, jumping in the middle of them, looking up at Newt in annoyance. "With immense difficulty" Newt raised his eyebrows at her in surprise by her knowing that. "Don't look at me like that..." Kenna spoke defensively. Newt raised his hands up slightly in surrender, a small grin playing at the corner of his lips "I met a wizard in China as an investigation lead me there when I first began working as an auror" she began explaining slowly. Tina and Newt looked at her, not minding how slow she wss talking. "He had been attacked. And as some of the aurors that traveled with me went to chase the culprit, which they took a while, by the way. I stayed with the wizard by being a newbie and less experienced auror. The wizard in panic begged me to help him find his little valuable and friendly creature. He hadn't told me what it was until a few hours later when we managed to find it. And I learned it could turn invisible" she scoffed lightly fondly.  "A little pain in the behind"

Newt listened in interest, seeing the fondness in the witch's eyes about the creature contradicting what she thought about it.

Tina glanced between the two. One lover of Magical creatures and the other, even though being an Auror, she seemed to be a secret lover of these creatures as well, even if she tried to deny it. She looked down in thought trying to figure it out how to find the little creature as she was the one knowing New York better.

Tina's eyes lit up as she leaned forward. "Gnarlak"

"Excuse me?" Newt questioned exchanging a confused look with Kenna not knowing what it was about.

Tina smiled.
