"A FRIENDLY, SOOTHING FACE"
Kenna breathed in the fresh air in relief as she walked out of the building. She had become claustrophobic all of the sudden that she feared slightly what could have happened had she not leave the trigger.
There was a faint flickering of lights among the street lamps that made some muggles confused but Kenna paid no attention to them, eager to leave the crowd to find somewhere quiet, panting slightly as she kept her head down as she walked.
So focused on her breathing she didn't realize there was someone in front of her until she crashed against someone for the second time that day.
A pair of arms steadied her making her breathe in sharply at the contact as she looked up with a slight flinch.
"Are you alright?" The calm, welcoming voice was soothing and a contrast to the loud crowd surrounding them.
Kenna looked up to see Newt, her muscles relaxing.
Newt smiled slightly, avoiding eye contact, slowly retreating his hands once he realized she was okay.
Tina Goldstein, former auror was standing next to Newt, frowning in recognition.
"Yeah, yeah... I am" Kenna responded so quietly Newt had to restrain his ears to catch her voice.
"You're British" Tina said with squinted eyes as she too had to restrain her ears to listen to the other witch. She glanced back and forth between her and Newt. "Like him"
Newt and Kenna were staring at each other trying to place the other.
Kenna lowered her gaze to the floor.
The action made Newt perk in familiarity and recognition, "Ravenclaw" Both women looked up at that, one in surprise and the other in confusion. "Hogwarts. I know you from there"
Kenna tilted her head, racking her brain to remember him when it came to her "You were in Hufflepuff, weren't you?"
Newt felt triumph as the three began to walk down the street "I knew I had seen you somewhere before"
"Small word" Kenna replied with a slight smile.
Something flew past them with an humming sound in the air.
The three of them followed the sound with their gaze.
Newt looked away pursing his lips hiding a concerned expression as he walked forward.
Tina following him questioning him about it.
Kenna remained looking up to where the creature flew off while walking after them slowly.
The back of her coat was pulled lightly and she came face to face with Newt
"Come on" Newt told her quietly and smiling slightly while letting her coat go and backing away sensing the woman was fan of personal space.
"Right" Kenna said, cheeks burning slightly in embarrassment.
The two of them walked ahead to a commotion rounding a corner.
There was a crowd of muggles shouting in panic as the building in front of them was crumbling down as more muggles evacuated the building before it could collapse.
The three wizards walked between the exclaiming muggles. Newt sneakily hexed a muggle to keep up their secret so magic wouldn't be exposed as he walked past them.
Kenna didn't know why she let herself being dragged between the loud, upset muggles as she wasn't someone to be on the crowds for long periods of times. She stood by Tina's side however as she figured she would be calm next to a familiar face.
Kenna's eyebrows furrowed once she lost sight of Newt. "Where's he?"
Upon hearing Kenna talking out loud, Tina looked around, wide eyed in alarm. "Damn" Tina spotted Newt sliding through the crowd into the crumbling building, sighing angrily as she began to make her way to him only to stop when she realized she was alone, looking behind her. Kenna was staring up at the sky with a slight smile as she recognized a billywig flying up in the air. Tina returned and grabbed the woman's hand frowning when she flinched startled "Come on" She told Kenna brushing the thought away, nodding to the building "He left over there"
The witches slid through the muggles murmuring about a gas explosion as they walked inside the building, while Kenna smiled slightly in amusement at the oblivious muggles.

The destroyed building made something stir inside Kenna and a bad taste leave her mouth. Her ears caught the sound of bricks moving as the building wss getting repaired as she and Tina climbed the stairs, looking for Newt.
Kenna scratched the skin of her arm as the sound made her remember the sound of the walls of her childhood home. Her heart pounded slightly at the memory. As she passed by a wall, a small cracking sound was heard. Debris fell from a fresh cracked line in the wall.
They both entered just in time to see Newt closing up his suitcase.
Tina looked at him in slight fear "Was it open?"
One look at Newt's face and Kenna had her answer even before he answered.
Kenna shook her head and her gaze fell on the unconscious man on the corner. She tilted her head tuning the wizards out and walked to him, kneeling in front of him as he whimpered and groaned. She noticed a bite on his neck, grimacing at it
"Hey, sir, are you okay?" Kenna spoke softly in sympathy at the pain he seemed to be, suddenly recognizing him as a muggle, rubbing her forehead. "Seriously?" she looked over her shoulder scoldingly, stopping Newt and Tina discussing about his creatures. "You have a muggle witnessing magic?"
"Uh..." Newt looked surprised hearing her speaking louder. He hadn't heard her raise her voice so much before and her voice wasn't too loud to say she yell in the first place so that was saying something.
Kenna gave them a disapproving look, turning to the muggle "Are you alright, Mr...?"
The muggle blinked in slight fear, gulping but relaxed seeing the calm and kind face of the woman in front of him, panting slightly "Kowalski, Jacob Kowalski"
Kenna smiled slightly, comfortingly "I'm truly something about this, Mr Kowalski. But you've seen too much"
Kenna pulled out her wand with the intention of obliviating him. Tina suddenly grabbed Kenna's arm to stop her. Kenna gasped softly in surprise, flinching. The lights on the room flickered and cracked with electricity with the movement. Newt looked around with a curious, suspicious look before he looked at the witches. Kenna gave Tina a look
"Sorry" Tina apologized in surprise by Kenna's reaction but not for what she did. "But you can't obliviate him. We need him as a witness"
Newt scoffed incredulously from behind them "I'm so sorry -Weren't you yelling at me the length New York for not doing it in the first place? Now you're trying to stop an Auror from doing her job?"
Tina looked at Kenna.
Kenna shrugged unapologetic "I was recruited here to work on muggle problems or muggle sightings on magic"
Newt made an unconvinced sound knowing there was more to that but didn't voice it out loud.
Kenna shoved her wand to her pocket once she realized she wouldn't be obliviating anyone and stood up backing away ignoring Newt's gaze on her. She rubbed her arm raising her shoulder slightly up to her face uncomfortably, hiding herself. Newt noticed the outcome, looking away not wanting to make her feel upset, he wasn't up to the situation turning worse than what already was.
Newt looked down at Tina as she tried to get the muggle up when one of his creatures leaped forward from behind the muggle, quit angry. Tina screamed in fear. Newt lowered to the ground quickly shoving his hands forward catching the creature on his hands before shoving it to his suitcase, closing it up.
Kenna placed a hand on her chest, calming herself down taking some deep breaths "What was that?"
Kenna glanced down at Newt as he locked his suitcase.
"Nothing to worry about..." Newt answered "That is..." he trailed off grimacing knowing he would receive an earful once they knew "A Murtlap"
Kenna's eyes lit up in recognition and Newt smiled slightly noticing that.
Tina looked up in controlled anger, calm "What else do you have in there?"
Kenna looked at Newt and his suitcase in recognition. Now she remembered who exactly he was. The Hufflepuff boy lover of the different magical creatures.
Newt Scamander
He had tutored her on her second and third year on Care of Magical creatures. She remembered being excited every time he brought a new creature to teach. Being a Ravenclaw, she loved to learn new things. It became easy to understand him whenever he spoke about the different creatures he knew about and liked sharing information about advanced creatures to her anytime he could.
A groan from Mr Kowalski made her look down at him. She knelt in front of him grimacing at his bleeding neck, shaking her head "He's bleeding"
Tina gasped crawling to the muggle's side, trying to lift him up with Kenna's help "He's hurt" she announced, looking up at Newt "He looks ill"
"He'll be fine, murtlap's bites aren't serious" Newt explained.
Kenna raised a brow incredulously at that hearing the muggle groaning and gagging as he looked like throwing up.
"Yeah, those aren't serious..." Kenna murmured but as there was a silence, everyone heard her.
Newt looked at her with a grimace "Yeah, I'll admit that's the most severe reaction I've ever seen, but if it was really serious he'd have..." he stopped sighing, biting his lip with a grimace.
Kenna pursed her lips looking down in amusement as she recalled what she knew about Murtlaps. She scratched her neck.
"What? " Tina asked.
"Well, the first symptom would be flames out of his anus..." Newt said casually bringing Kenna to breathe a chuckle.
They looked over at her incredulously for having laughed.
The muggle panicked for hearing what could be able to happen to him, grabbing his bum on a panicked state.
Newt looked at Kenna frowning but slightly smiling
"I'm so sorry" Kenna apologized, looking down at Mr. Kowalski "It's not a laughing matter. I know... Sorry"
Kenna felt sympathetic towards the muggle man and she tuned out Tina as she started talking about MACUSA's laws about not being able to have contact with muggles, fell in love with one or simply greet them while passing by them or marry them, which she highly disapproved off. It was ridiculous.
She instead knelt in front of Mr. Kowalski smiling lightly to prove she wasn't a threat "It's alright Mr. Kowalski. There aren't completely 100 % proves flames would come out of your anus... " she reassured the man "It may be something else but not that..."
Mr. Kowalski's eyes widened in fear and shock hearing her and the others speaking about him as if he wasn't right there in the room. It didn't help the calm words coming from the woman in front of him mouth sounded creepier than he originally thought
Kenna looked up with a glare at Tina when she rudely asked who would marry Mr. Kowalski.
"That's rude..." Kenna said disapprovingly.
"You both coming with me" Tina told Newt kneeling in front of Jacob.
"All yours" Kenna shook her head standing up, backing away, starting to walk to the door.
"Where you going?" Newt asked as she stepped out of the room
Kenna looked back brushing her hair out of her face "Sightseeing" she said, using Abernathy's excuse to leave MACUSA's office.
Newt smiled seeing through her "All right..." he said as he went to help Tina with Jacob.
Kenna seriously needed to walk away, she was feeling claustrophobic all over again. She didn't want to cause more trouble "Yeah..."
Kenna said walked down the stairs quickly.
Newt looked after her knowingly and concerned with his arm around Jacob supporting him as Tina appareatted them out of the room.
