"PROTECTIVE KENNA MODE: ON"

Kenna apparated outside of a destroyed building. She knew Credence had to be there. Her hand grabbed her lit wand tightly as she made her way inside the destroyed orphanage.

She hoped she wasn't too late to help him.

"Credence?" Kenna called out slowly, seeing debris and the room completely destroyed. Her breath hitched in her throat as the light of her wand landed on the body of a woman. Familiar marks all over her arms and face.

Kenna looked away, swallowing the pain, the memories of cold, empty blue eyes staring up at her.

"Credence?" Kenna shook slightly with each step as she tried to push back the memories of her childhood, when she was the cause of her family falling apart. "My name's Kenna. I don't wanna hurt you" This was all to painful for her to bear. She felt like she was seven all over again. She heard soft sobs, flashing her wand, searching for the source "Credence?" She called out softly noticing a crouched pile of dark clothes and she bit her lip noticing a boy crying, trying to hide while crouching all he could. "Knox" she whispered to her wand as the light faded away and she shoved it to her coat pocket. She didn't want to frighten him more than what he already was "Credence?..."

Credence heard a woman's voice calling for him and couldn't help but fear her. He noticed her voice breaking and the pain in there. He sensed footsteps near him and a hand lightly touching his shoulder, he flinched expecting her to hit him but she didn't.

The woman's touch was light and careful as if she knew exactly what he needed "Hey, its alright..." he heard her whisper in a soft accented voice, it was unknown to him but sounded sweet "This is not your fault..." he slowly looked up and that's when he noticed dark blue eyes peering up at him in concern and understanding... Understanding.

What was there of him to understand? He was nobody, no one wanted him. He was a danger.

"Credence. I understand you're afraid" the woman began softly, no judgments nor anger in her voice "Trust me. I understand exactly what you feel. I understand what it feels to fear of yourself for what you can do"

Credence leaned on her touch slightly "Please, help me...." He whispered at her crying, pleadingly. If she really knew what it felt, she could help him "Please...."

Kenna nodded. Her hand, wandless traveled to his hand. Credence flinched, eyeing each movement cautiously. He wasn't afraid of losing control if she betrayed him. He had been betrayed and the beast inside him had no mercy for those who wronged him.

"Look, I know you don't trust me and that you think I'm gonna hurt you, but don't fear me, please" The woman said slowly.

Credence watched her shaking hand in awe and fear as it turned ash and darker. Her hand disintegrated to dark black ash matter. The same substance he could turn into.

Credence looked up at the woman who was watching her hand with a mix of fear, sadness and pain. That's when he knew he could trust her and wouldn't betray him like Graves did.

"You're like me" Credence whispered in awe, afraid and relieved.

Kenna fought back control and watched her hand turning back to normal. She smiled a little at Credence reassuringly "I can help you. I can help you control it. Control your magic"

Credence's eyes darkened at the mention of magic "I've no magic...." he told her lowly.

Kenna shook her head slowly "You're a wizard. I'm a witch. We both have magic" she told him slowly and quietly. "Different, but still magic"

Credence cried hearing the woman reassuring him and leaned forward. Kenna took the clue and wrapped her arms around him, letting him cry, closing her eyes.

"You'll help me?" Credence asked, clinging into the woman's body. He found comfort on her after learning they were the same. She really knew what he felt and if she knew how to help him then he would listen to her.

"I will, I don't care what others say. I'll help you Credence" Kenna said closing her eyes. She slowly pulled away and smiled softly at him "Come on. I know where we can go. It's safe and we both can be protected"

She wouldn't take him anywhere. There was a place she had seen in New York where she knew Credence could feel safe. And it wasn't Newt's case even though she felt it was the safest place she had ever seen.

But for Credence.... Not knowing anything magical. Not knowing he himself had magic. It could be overwhelming. Kenna knew that feeling really well.

"Credence?"

Both Obscurials looked up at a man's voice. Kenna's heart pounded loudly in fear. She knew that voice. She knew it was bad news. Her lip trembled and Credence noticed.

The woman feared Graves as well. Other reason for him to not trust him. He watched Kenna pulling out a wooden stick from her coat and for a moment he thought she'll get rid of him until he noticed she shifted in front of him, her back to him and she was standing up slowly raising up her wand protectively

She was protecting him from Mr. Graves.

Graves surveyed the trashed orphanage as he entered. The debris Kenna had noticed as well and the dead body. His eyes caught sight of movement to his left and turned around just to be pointed with a wand. He looked up noticing the woman he had arrested earlier and escaped as predicted.

He hid a smirk seeing trembling in the hand holding the wand. With the small light the moon provided he could tell the woman's glimmering blue eyes. She had been crying. Behind her on the floor, he noticed Credence who had slowly stood up and noticed the grip he had on the witch's coat.

She had gotten to him. His plans then must needed to change. He looked up at the witch and noticed some dark matter whirling around her hand holding her wand. He barely noticed it, but it was there.

Graves raised his hands showing he wasn't armed, the woman Kenna didn't falter but raised her wand up higher.

"Ms Page, I mean no harm..." Graves opted by saying, seeing his actions wouldn't work.

Credence flinched at his voice and hid behind Kenna. Kenna's eyes flickered behind her seeing the frightened boy and shot Mr Graves a dangerous look.

"Stay back..." Kenna warned, her eyes flashing dangerously standing in front of Credence protectively "You're not gonna touch him" she spat angrily, her hand trembling harder. "You're not gonna exploit him or use him"

Graves didn't want her to attack him. He needed to have the Obscurials. Both powerful Obscurials on his side.

First starting with the witch.

"Miss Page, I just want to help the child..." Graves began slowly. Her stance was offensive. Her being here meant she was here to protect the Obscurial, she was following her instincts as an Auror. He could use that to his advantage "Just like you. We both work to protect innocents" he coaxed soothingly. Her eyes still held doubt but she was slightly lowering he wand. That was a progress "Credence was helping to find the child. You know he's in danger of dying..."

Kenna furrowed her eyebrows. She slowly looked back at Credence. He didn't know he was the Obscurial.

Graves took that moment and did something he knew would regret later. He took his wand and disarmed her. "Expelliarmus" Startled, Kenna backed away, holding Credence protectively. "I'm sorry" he apologized. She had more control than what he expected. Magnificent. "I'll give it to you in a moment" he grabbed her wand from the floor, seeing her shaking hands. "We need to find this child"

Kenna looked back at Credence with a reassuring look. Credence really trusted Kenna now. So he nodded slowly.

It only took a second for chaos breaking.
