"THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM"
Kenna had been avoiding Newt as if he had the plague. She noticed he looked like wanting to talk to her. And she knew exactly about what.
Her little confession about being more dangerous than what she had let on.
She found herself outside a desert looking habitat with a look of awe seeing from afar at a Thunderbird, not noticing her little hide and seek game was about to end as Newt walked to her position with Pickett on his hand arguing with him.
Looked like the little Bowtruckle was mad that Newt was going to let him with the Goblin. Kenna heard clicking behind her and furrowed her eyebrows. She may not understand the creature's language but that clicking sounded angry....
Kenna turned around just to find Newt asking the Bowtruckle to smile jut for the little creature blow a raspberry at him. She chuckled attracting their attention. Pickett started clicking again while pointing at the woman, Newt made a face as Kenna walked forward, her gaze on Pickett.
"Yes, Pickett" Kenna told him, clicking her tongue in mock disappointment, "Newt behaved really bad today, didn't he?" Newt made a face as Pickett made a clicking of agreement as he crawled to the witch's hand as she reached out to the creature. Kenna smiled up at Newt smugly as Pickett blew another raspberry at him crawling to her arm and to her shoulder. Kenna smiled laughing. "Sorry, Newt. But I tried to save the little fella more than you..."
Kenna raised her eyebrows, crossing her arms, Pickett seemingly doing the same on her shoulder clicking in agreement.
Newt breathed a small scoff but couldn't help but smile a little seeing Pickett enjoying himself while gripping the witch's curly hair. Kenna looking as if it didn't bother her.
"I don't mind" Newt replied with a small smile, grabbing some plants, starting to cut them. "He seems to like you"
Why he hadn't spoke about how she dealt with her emotions and the Obscurus thing, he had no idea but something told him it wasn't the time yet...
Kenna smiled a little before her smile faded "I'm sorry..." she suddenly said quietly. Newt stopped in his movements and glanced up at her. She was looking down at her hands as she held them close to her while twirling her fingers nervously. "I shouldn't have snap at you..."
Newt shook his head, there wasn't a need for her to apologize "No, I should be the one apologizing. You wanted to protect someone and I was stopping you"
"I shouldn't have snapped..." Kenna repeated as if she hadn't listened to Newt "It was wrong. That's why I was ignoring you. Anger doesn't mix well with me"
That's exactly what Newt wanted to discuss. Newt shook his head slowly "Kenna..." he called softly. He wanted her to know he could help her, he had been studying Obscurus for a while and while he hadn't seen a Obscurial, he knew he could help her. He wanted to help her "Listen..."
"Hey, Newt..." Whatever Newt was going to say was interrupted by Queenie coming out of his work shed. Kenna also looked at Queenie "Who is she?" Queenie asked pointing at the moving portrait of a brunette woman.
Kenna's eyes shifted to it, recognizing her barely, furrowing her eyebrows.
Leta Lestrange?
"Ah, that's no one" Newt answered with a shrug, not looking at neither of them.
Queenie seemed to read both Wizard's minds as she suddenly spoke "Leta Lestrange" Kenna noticed Newt slowing his movements uncomfortably "I've heard of that family... aren't they kind of, you know..."
"Please, don't read my mind" Newt told her, trying hard of not snapping. He continued what he was doing for a few seconds but stopped when he sensed a presence on his head, turning to Queenie again "Sorry, I asked you not to"
Kenna had also felt Queenie's presence on her mind while she thought about Leta but she didn't oppose to it. It had been a long time since she had thought about her. She tuned Queenie out as she said outloud what she had been reading from Newt's mind. It seemed that the American witch couldn't help but read someone's mind.
Kenna's thoughts also traveled back to when Newt had been expelled. Leta had become colder than she was usually. Kenna until now couldn't understand how both of them could have been super close. Leta was all the contrary to Newt if she started analyzing.... A thought came to her mind that had her thinking. Opposites attract each other, maybe that was.
Kenna shook her head not wanting to think more about Leta. The girl made her angry once, provoking her on a class almost making Kenna release her obscurus. Good luck for her it was Transfiguration and Professor Dumbledore had a soothing effect on her that she had managed to control herself.
Merlin bless Dumbledore and his love for sweets for saving her ass a lot of times....
Queenie turned to face her with a sad face "Oh, I'm sorry you had to go through that because of her"
Kenna looked up shaking her head not looking at Newt's curious glance "It was a long time ago"
Newt knew Queenie meant Leta with her because they were talking about her, but got curious as to what Leta did to Kenna for Queenie look sad and concern.
"What are you talking about?" Tina came from one of the habitats glancing between the wizards.
"Nothing" Newt and Kenna replied quickly.
"School" Queenie told her sister calmly with a smile on her face.
Kenna sighed in relief smiling lightly in agreement
"School" Newt repeated nodding, looking relieved as well.
Jacob's voice made them look up at him as he had just finished feeding some creatures "Did you just said school?" Jacob walked to them with an awe expression in his face "Is there school? For wizardry school in America?"
"Of course. Ilvermony. Is only the best wizardry school in the world" Queenie said with a wide smile in her face.
"I think you'll find the best wizarding school in the world is Hogwarts" Newt said without looking up but smiling smugly adding a few ingredients to the bowl looking up at Queenie raising his eyebrows.
Kenna smirked shaking her head at Queenie. She looked at Jacob nodding at Newt in agreement.
"The best is Hogwarts" Kenna said grinning.
"Hogwash" Queenie countered narrowing her eyes at the Brits.
Kenna and Newt looked up at Queenie with identical expressions of amusement.
Their calm and serene moment was interrupted by loud claps of thunder and they looked up seeing the Thunderbird's habitat glowing with rain and lighting.
Kenna looked up at the Thunderbird and felt a stirring inside her. Her dark magic was waking up dangerously.
"Danger. He senses danger" Newt announced at the same time Kenna whispered.
"Danger...." Kenna whispered in a daze while gripping her stomach.
The group that had been looking up at the Thunderbird when it loudly screeched looked back at Kenna. But the woman wasn't there anymore
Newt's eyes widened after a second in realization. There was just one thing that would make Kenna quickly walk away. Conscious or not...
An obscurus.

The sisters, Jacob and Newt climbed out of the case. The Thunderbird was right. There was really danger when the sounds of sirens wailed around the city.
They apparated to a roof seeing an obscurus destroying everything on its path around the city. Kenna was nowhere to be seen and Newt had to remain calm reminding himself Kenna wasn't the Obscurus destroying the city
"Is that the Obscuriathing?" Jacob asked. His question however remained unanswered but the silence confirmed of the others was the answer he dreaded.
They all watched the Obscurus destroying the city.
Newt watched quietly, with interest and concern
"That's more powerful than any other obscurial I have ever heard of..." Newt said quietly. Besides Kenna... speaking of which. He whirled around trying to spot the woman.
Queenie read his thoughts also looking around in concern "Where's Kenna?"
"She went to find Credence alone" Newt answered quietly, his voice laced in slight anger and concern. This was exactly what he wanted to prevent. The woman was stubborn when it was something she proposed to herself.
If she really went to find the Obscurial and succeeded. This wouldn't have happened. Kenna knew where the Obscurial (Credence) lived and being one herself, she could get through him.
Something must have gone wrong.
He now needed to find two Obscurials. One breaking havoc and the other, hopefully not breaking havoc.
Deciding on on what he was going to do, Newt pulled out his journal, giving it to Tina "If I don't come back, look after my creatures. Everything you need to know is in there" Tina looked at him as if he was insane. The others too. He couldn't do this. Newt read their looks, shaking his head "They're not killing it. Besides that I need to know Kenna is okay"
Newt quickly ran to the edge of the rooftop, jumping, apparating out of there.
"Newt!" Tina yelled at him trying to stop him but there was no use. He was already gone.
