"What did I miss." (Flash, 5*01)

After a few weeks helping Kara and Brynn on earth 38 with her and her friend's problems with Lex Luthor, then everything else. After being tired and sore I had to return back for the birth of Joe and Celice child Jenna West. I knew everyone was going to be there so I packed my bags.

"Bye Alex," I said hugging her. "Thanks for letting me stay here you two," I told Kara and Alex as Kara came up and hugged me as I used a teleporter and hugged her. "So see you next time Kara, Alex," I said before going through the blue portal right in front of me.

As I walked out in star labs I used my superspeed to change and get ready. I was wearing a black leather dress, red top, blue torn jeans, and boots. When I saw the time I knew I was late and had to give Celice the gift that Brainy thought would be fitting for her.

I ran over holding the gift tightly, I looked at the door to hear no talking, I knocked and then I heard people talking and questioning who was at the door, as I continued to stand there until Caitlin opened the door for me and hugged me as we walked in everyone was looking at this girl that was at Barry's wedding I sat the gift down and looked at her.

"What did I miss?" I asked them as Barry saw me, I knew that even if he didn't have a smile that he was happy as everyone that me Ruby Allen was back.

"Hi, I'm Nora West Allen your niece." The girl said as I questioned this girl as I saw her at the wedding, heard she spilled coffee on Caitlyn.

"Uh my niece." I asked as everyone looked at me and Barry still was there in shocked.

"Ok let's backup." Barry said as I nodded sitting next to Caitlin and Ralph.

"My name is Nora West-Allen, the fastest woman alive. When I'm from, 30 years from now, I'm the guardian of Central City. I'm a speedster just like my dad. People call me XS. Every day, I hope to live up to the legacy of The Flash But I've still got a long way to go." She said as I stared at her.

"You're saying you're our daughter." Barry said pointing at Iris and him continuing, "Named Nora? After my mother." Barry said confused as I was watching this girl.

"Anybody need a refill." Cisco asked as I held back a laugh, "No? Just me? Mm." He spoke.

"Cisco Ramon, always cutting the tension with a joke." Nora said as everyone looked at her.

"You know our names?" He asked her as she giggled. "Of course I know all of you or at least all your names." She said as I questioned what that meant.

"You're Caitlin Snow, Ralph Dibny, Papa Joe, Mama Cecile, Little Auntie Jenna." She said continuing, "She's so cute." She said looking at Jenna as I nodded she is cute. "Uncle Wally, and Aunt Ruby." She said pointing at Wally than me. I stared at the young girl maybe mid twenties shit I would be in my mid-forties.

"Yeah, and your nickname is XS? Clearly not my doing." Cisco said as she shook her head. "No, uh." She stumbled on words, "It's a nickname you gave when I was a kid, Mom." She said as Iris looked at her as she continued, "Mom? You said I did everything in excess." Nora said as Iris sighed.

"Guess I've always been like that. Overdoing things, getting in way over my head. Like, uh, recently." Nora said continuing as Barry interrupted. "This mistake that you made." Barry said as I was going to question Cisco put my hand down, "I'll tell you later." He said as I nodded not hearing the last few sentences.

"But something happened when I did, because now, I can't seem to go fast enough to open up the speed force." She said as everyone looked at her been there done that. Until Ralph interrupted her, "Are we talking about actual time travel here?" He asked as Cisco looked at him "Oh crap this is going to get interesting." I said in my mind as Ceclie looked at me.

"Do you like, not pay any attention when we have our briefings?" Cisco said as everyone looked at him. "Y'all didn't teach him about the Legends?" Wally asks. "Look, nobody said bubkes about time travel." Ralph said as I looked at him.

My mind went back to what I encountered in the past two weeks when I was gone, seeing what they have gotten through, but I can't find this piece within me I feel like I'm scattered.

I missed the last few seconds so I continue to listen to this conversation. "I'm sorry. I know how bizarre this must seem, meeting your daughter from the future as an adult. But really, this wasn't my plan at all, but I'm kind of stuck here now, and you're the only people who can help me. So anyone know what to do?" Nora said as Barry and Iris walked back as I watched them talking even though I shouldn't I wanted to talk to them.

As I saw Iris walk back to Nora I went up to Barry, "Future Daughter huh?" I asked him as he looked at me. "Who knows she could be lying." He said as I looked at him. "Yeah she could, but Barry I believe her. Even if I wasn't here to see her I can tell she's not lying." I said looking at her.

"Ruby your on this too." He said, "Yes, I may have been gone for two weeks, but if she's family she's family we always have lost family, and maybe she has too. She isn't home with them so why would she be lying." I asked him walking away as he was going to stop me.

I grabbed a cucumber and left the house knowing that I was being followed by Cecile. "I know something is going on with you." She stated as I faked laughed leaning on the deck railing, moving my ginger hair in my hands. "Yeah, but I don't know what." I said trying not to give it away. Holding her hand as I moved away as I started to absorbing her powers.

"What is going on with you?" She asked me as a memory flashed before my eyes.

I walked into the apartment where it was only Alex who was making coffee and then I sat down on one of the chairs.

"You ok Ruby?" She asked me as I sighed. "How do you deal with it?" I asked her. "With what?" She asked as I was trying not to give up my strength. "Being able to stay strong and know who you are. To be lesbian. To be able to date anyone. Because when I found out and now I haven't been able to be who I am in fear of what others would think of me?" I told her as she grabbed my hands.

"You haven't talked to Barry. And I know it's hard to face the reality of being like this. But in the end it's alright to be yourself." She told me as I nodded. I just couldn't tell them not yet at least.

I then came back to reality seeing Cecile crying. "It's ok Ruby to be different. You already are a meta-human and a cop who plays by her rules." She said as I started tearing up. "I feel like I'm not me anymore. I don't even know someday's who I am. Someday's I try telling people that I like women more than a guy. It started when I went to college. I never told anyone because..." I said stumbling on the words. "You were afraid of what everyone thinks. What your brother would think Ruby." She said as I nodded and she hugged me.

"Um..Please don't tell anyone Cecile. I will tell them when I'm ready because Alex, and Sarah are the only two who know other than you." I said as she nodded.

"Well I feel like your brother needs your help with this whole daughter thing." She said as I nodded heading to STAR Labs.

When I arrived there I saw everyone talking about Nora, of course my brother would test her. I walked in the room to see Iris look at me, "She is our daughter." She said as I smiled.

"She's just not going fast enough to, uh, open up a time portal, so." Cisco Said as Barry spoke up. "How much champagne did you have at Joe and Cecile's?" He asked Cisco as I scoffed. "This is the first opportunity I have to process my breakup with Gypsy, okay? How was I supposed to know that your future daughter was gonna come show up and crash my pity party? How was I supposed to "anticipate" that?" Cisco said walking out as Caitlin followed him.

"Crap, I was supposed to meet Singh - at CCPD an hour ago." Barry said as I snorted. "Hey, Wally, can you do me a favor? Can you take the sample to the Legends to see if they have any insights? And maybe, worst comes to worst, we can take her home on the Waverider?" Barry said as Wally nodded. "Yeah I got that." Wally said. "Wally tell Sara I said Hi" I said before he nodded and ran.

"I guess I can with you Barry since I should return as Detective Allen. Well I guess my three weeks off is now two and one day." I said as he laughed. "How was Kara?" He asked as I laughed. "She was doing good other than Lex Luthor trying to destroy her." I said. "You absorbed her powers didn't you?" He asked as I nodded. "Not all of them, but I almost killed her." I said trying not to cry.

Before Barry could get there I watched Nora, "Wanna go to Star City Police Department to bug your dad since I can tell you didn't have him in your life did you?" I asked her.

"Honestly no I didn't he died when I was younger. I came here to spend time with him. I got to see his wedding, meet you, seeing who he is." She said as I laughed.

"Let me tell you. I'm quite happy your here Nora. Now let's go to CCPD. Race you there." I said as we both ran to CCPD. When we got there I headed in and saw Detective Singh giving Barry his keys back, and a new ID.

"You are officially reinstated as our CSI tech, Allen." He said as I smiled and walked up. "Thanks, Captain." He said as I walked up stairs. "Oh, one more thing." He said as Barry looked at him, "We didn't fill your position while you were away, so there are a few cases waiting for you in your lab." He said as I stood in the hallway. "Get to them as fast as you can. Welcome back Allen." He said as I laughed knowing how much was in their poor brother.

"Detective Allen." He said as I nodded, "Welcome back from vacation." He said as I smiled. "Thank you, I'm happy to be back." I said as he smiled and walked away, and I walked in.

"Hey, so I thought you were gonna stay at STAR Labs, with, um with your Iris, mom? With your Mom." He said as I laughed.

"She's with me Barry." I said as he looked at me, "What I thought she needed to be out I get the whole time travel shit, but she's still your daughter. I know she wants to spend time with you." I said to him as Nora was looking through files.

"You know I'm a forensic scientist too? CCU grad, just like you 5. 6 GPA." Nora said as I looked at her. "I could help you look through this." She said as I smiled she really is trying to be with her dad. "Oh I don't know." Barry said as I was watching those two. "I mean, it's so the fire marshal at this site saying crazing in the melted glass suggests a liquid accelerant." She said looking through the file. "Well, like floor wax, or shag rugs, even balloons." She continued.

"Yeah, the glass melts under the surface, like ice cream in the cracks of a waffle cone." She said as I was remembering ice cream from Rhode Island. "Oh, like when you get two scoops of cookie dough ice cream with extra sprinkles at the Mason Family Ice Cream Shop in Happy Harbor, Rhode Island." She said as it reminded me of all those time with our family. "Our parents used to take us there when we were kids." Barry said looking at Nora and I. "It's our favorite dessert." He said. "Mine too." She said looking at him, something is up with Nora, not in personality, but with this whole getting stuck here.

"Hey, look, I'm sorry, um, you're obviously good at forensics, but you shouldn't interfere. I mean, people like us, we need to be responsible." Barry said as I sighed knowing he was being more flash than being a dad at the moment. "Right! Uh, timeline." She said feeling hurt in a way.

"All available units, M-0-3 in progress, 10th and Neely." The speakers said, "M-0-3, that's a meta attack." Nora said as I nodded grabbing my gun and badge along with my vest. "Yeah all my suit's all torn up." He said as I questioned nobody still hasn't explained to me how. After Devoe and him going to Jail, then me helping Kara and Brynn I'm still behind on two weeks worth of information.

"I don't have anything to Direct from Cisco's back closet." Barry said, "One first-edition red emblem OF super suit." She said as I ran out seeing how tight it was on him I laughed. "Not the time Ruby." He said as I headed down the stairs heading out with Joe.

"Do you think it's weird that Barry and Iris's daughter is here from the future?" I asked him as we were driving and he nodded. "What can you expect from a speedster." He said as I laughed. "She seems to really want to be with her dad. I don't blame her, but yet I seem to suspect her actions in some ways." I said as he looked at me and I nodded.

As we arrived I saw Barry, still not trying to laugh I saw Captain Singh, "Now I'm going old-school today, Flash?" He asked as I stared at the suit so back then. "Yeah, it's a little tighter than I remember, though." Barry said pointing to the costume. "Hey, uh, you might want to do something." Singh said to Flash.

"Now it's my turn, Flash." The meta said as I pointed my gun at them trying not to use my powers. "Gridlock? Schway!" The other Meta said as I recognized it as Nora. "What are you doing?" Flash said getting knocked back as I saw her. "No, no. I just wanted to be nice." She said as we headed back to STAR Labs after I got off for the hour I had today at CCPD.

"Oh, grife." She said looking at her parents and I was around hearing the whole conversation. "You're mad at me." She said looking at both of them. "No, Nora, we're not." Iris said, "We're just.." Iris said as Nora cut her off, "Please don't say "disappointed" that's much worse." Barry said as I looked at Nora I feel bad for her.

"I mean, I just didn't think it was a big deal." She said as I was going to step in, but Caitiln looked at me and she her face told me not to interfere. "It was only Gridlock." Nora said looking at everyone. "Oh, Gridlock, huh? boy , the future's got some great names." Cisco said as Barry looked at him as I nodded the future. I wonder what mine will be like.

I walked out to another room to leave everyone as I wanted to think that I should be pulled to do something more. Something more. Everytime I think about my job, I think how much skills I have learned as a hero and as a person. But I was missing something, like how I went to Japan for a year of my highschool, it was an experience that lead me to love traveling even to other earths.

As I walked back in I heard Nora speak, "I mean, Gridlock was a one-and-done. You guys beat him in one try, or at least you were supposed to. Ugh, now, because of me, he's on the run, and the timeline's all messed up again, and I Nora, hey, look, look."

"I've made bigger mistakes than this time traveling. We'll get this guy you don't need to worry about that. But the longer you stay here, the more things might change." Barry said as I came back into view. "We need to get you home." He continued as I saw Nora hiding a hurt look. "But I can't go fast enough." She said trying to stay as long as she could.

"What about the tachyon absorption enhancer? The one that Thawne used to increase his speed?" Barry said as Cisco nodded. "Ooh, and if we charge it up, we could uh, boost the Speed Force in her cells, like some kind of, um thing that boosts Speed Force in cells." Cisco said as Barry agreed, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's a good idea. Let's okay, finding Gridlock and getting Nora home need to be our priorities."

Then Ralph Interrupted, "No, no, no. Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop. Wait. Loud! Okay, so but this needs to be our priority. Now, I realize that you're all way ahead of me in this time-travel business, but guys, I think I just discovered something. So if if Nora can time travel, that means she can create new timelines, right? New timelines means that parallel timelines can exist. So, guys, I think that a whole other universe could exist. I know, I know, I know. It sounds crazy, but think about it. There could be an Earth where we're all bad guys, or another Earth where there's no world hunger, or or another Earth where Where they never made that last "Indiana Jones" movie.Think of the possibilities.It's like some kind of a manyverse."

"And everybody knows about the manyverse. Multiverse, and so do you, Ralph. Breacher? Gypsy? Harry? What did you think we meant when we said Harry was from Earth-2? That he is from Earth "also." Cisco said as we all looked at Ralph. "Oh, my God. You guys really need to make, like, a welcome pamphlet, or at least a Powerpoint or something." Ralph said as everyone sighed.

"Hey, Ralph, buddy? Can we get off time travel, maybe, please? Let's focus on finding Gridlock, all right? Thank you." Cisco said as everyone continued with the plan as I was studying everyone. "I'm going to CCPD, see what I can dig up." Barry said walking out with Joe. "Okay, I'll stay with Nora." Iris said as Nora was sad again.

I just continued to sit here focusing more and more into my head instead of anyone else's. I start dozing off in the mind field.

I was running away from my own brother, but darn was I fast since he couldn't catch up to me. I kept running around from Barry when he is only two years older than me.

I fell to the ground clutching my head in my hand, my head splitting to another time to something more. Flashes in my eyes as Barry comes up to me, "Rubes, Rubes." He said as my eyes closed to another place. "Mom..Dad..." Barry said before I was fully out of it.

When they opened I was back to my body, but this time I woke up to seeing destruction of Central city, nobody was around, not one body. Then a wave of matter comes by as people are running my friends, family, and citizens from a wave of red energy, anti-matter. It hit all of them and they disappeared. Before it could hit me I was transported to another scene before I could see who was standing in front of me, I felt someone, something I felt my body jolting.

Before I opened my eyes I got up, and felt my photon powers in my hands, "Ruby." The voice said as I opened my eyes and saw it was Caitlin. I stopped my powers and lowered my fist and took my hand off him. "You ok Ruby?" She asked me as I nodded. "Your lying, what is going on?" She asked me as I sighed. "I saw something that I don't know how to explain and want to talk about." I said as I tried not to sound harsh and she hugged me.

I sat there until I saw Wally run in, "Where are they." He asked hurrying. "They already left to take Nora home." I said as he hurried. "We need to stop them." He said. "Why?" I asked. "Negative tachyons." He said as we both ran to the zeta tubes.

"Did they already leave?" Wally asked as everyone nodded. "We have to stop them. I'm sorry I was too late. It took me a while to find where the Legends were. Well, when they were. But we got their Gideon to scan Nora's blood sample." He said as everyone walked over. "What'd she find?" They all asked. "Negative tachyons." Wally said.

"Negative tachyons? So, what, instead of speeding you up, they slow you down?" Cisco said as he was joking around and Wally nodded, "Yeah." He said as Cisco looked at him "Oh, damn, I was just joking." He said. "That's a real thing? Yeah, Ava and her team at the Time Bureau have encountered them before, but no one knows where they come from or how they're generated." Wally said as I was stretching. "Are you stretching." Joe asked me by the side, "Yes So?" I asked as we continued to listen to him. "Like dark matter for the space time continuum." Cisco asked. "Exactly, and they're saturating Nora's body and keeping her from entering the Speed Force." Wally said,

"What about the Waverider? Can the Legends take her back?" Barry asked wondering as everyone looked at Wally. "If negative tachyons come anywhere near the Rider's time drives, uh, the reaction will vaporize the ship." He said as I questioned it. "Well, there's got to be a way to get rid of them, right? I mean, I don't know about getting rid of them, but maybe we can offset the tachyon absorption enhancer to negate the reaction somehow." Cisco said as I looked at him.

After everyone went out of the room I was left to wonder, what happens if darkness effects negative tachyons. I wonder if it takes a negative speed force to have negative tachyons, or if someone could abstract it and give it to someone to use. I kept standing her to wonder about how everything happened so fast for Nora. I know she has more to tell, but reading her mind is invasive to her.

I walked back in the room to see Barry and Iris fighting about Nora, poor kid I mean it if I was they're child or any child who lost a parent I would want some support after traveling back in time to see what happened.

Before they could see me I walked out of the room spotting Nora in Cisco's lab, when I walked in I saw her head lift up, "Hey you alright?" I asked her as she nodded. "I just thought I would meet my dad differently." She said as I nodded. "Bargaining in on them when you have a negative tachyon damper." I said as she looked at me wide eyed. "How did you find out." She asked as I laughed. "I'm a detective I can put two and two together when the clues are right in front of me." I said as she looked at me sad. "Are you going to tell my dad?" She asked as I shook my head. "Barry doesn't need to know this one until later. And if I wanted to tell him I would have, but sometimes I just gotta let some things slide." I told her as she laughed. "Your pretty schway Aunt Ru." She said as I laughed.

"Mind if I ask. How am I in the future." I asked her as she looked at me. "All I can say is different in a way. If I told you what way where would the fun be of seeing the future." She said as I laughed in agreement. Before I knew it, Barry ran in, "Nora." He said as she looked at him, and I laughed.

"Um What happens to me in the future? You said that you spend your whole life with your mom, but you didn't say the same for me." Barry said as I squeezed her hands as he approached us. "My poker face is that bad, huh?" She said as I nodded and she gave me another look.

"I need to know. How Long?" He asked her as I stared at the two. "You never come back." She said as I was going to say something, but my voice wasn't letting me. "How old were you when it happened?" Barry asked. "I was born, um, a few years before you vanished, but I don't have any memories of you." Nora said as I watched her.

"So the wedding was pretty much the first time I met you." She said as I looked at her. "I should go. Good luck older bro always being gone before me." I said walking out as my heels were clicking down on the floor. I went to the Cortex to find Cisco, Caitlin, and Ralph as the others came in from behind me.

"Barry, we need you in the cortex." Cisco said to them. "It's about Gridlock." he continued as Barry came in here a few moments after.

"I scanned the crime scene photos and got a match." Cisco said looking at the monitors as I looked over his shoulder giving him a smile. "This is not Lang's first rodeo. CCPD put out a warrant for him carjacking. He killed the whole crew inside." Cisco continued.

"And now he absorbs kinetic energy? He only gets stronger if you punch him, you shoot him, you throw him into traffic." Cisco said looking at Barry and the team as he paused, "Which could make traffic worse." He said looking at the monitors. "God, I'd hate to be stuck in that gridlock." Cisco said as we watched him have his mind blown.

"So how do we find this guy without Sally the satellite?" Wally said as I looked at him. "We don't need a satellite to hack a cell phone." Cisco said starting to hack his cell phone with Caitlyn. "And if we want to find his cell phone, we'll find it By the airport?" Cisco said continuing. "Got it, 'cause he's on a plane that just took off. Central City Air, flight number 5201." Caitlyn said as I looked at her.

"Why would he get on a plane?" Wally asked. "Because he's gonna crash it." Barry said. "The plane just lost an engine." Cisco said as I watched the screens turn to the plane overall. "It's headed for downtown. If Gridlock takes out the other engine, the pilot won't be able to avoid the buildings." Cisco said as we looked at him. "Thousands of people will die." Caitlyn said as I started to get closer to the pilots thoughts. But before I could reach his thoughts someone said my name.

"But can't you take Ruby." Nora said as I snapped out of using my mind powers again. "Ooh I can't one I just got back a few days ago, and two I'm not in the sense of mind frame." I said walking away as I watched the flashes go by me. I went down to the lounge of Star Labs to find Joe.

"Hey! You didn't go and fight?" Joe asked as I sat across from him. "Nah! They got it right now. And besides, I'm not in a frame of mind to fight crime. I couldn't even mind control the pilot." I said with my face in my hands. "Wait mind control." He asked as I laughed. "It's a long story." I said as he laughed. "But I guess with nothing to do at the moment. I can tell you." I said as he smiled. "So it started when I was with Supergirl and Martian Manhunter on this mission, we got stuck somewhere and I was fighting this Princess named Amethyst from another planet. She has a mind control and a few other powers. But when I was there I absorbed only her mind control because she was using it on Manhunter. But in the end it came down to me using my sonic scream to beat her." I said as he laughed.

A little bit later, I watched as Joe fell asleep and I turned off the lights and laid on the other couch. Nobody else knew about this place. And the only reason I did is because I saw Joe one day walking in here, and I promised not to tell anyone about it for as long as I could.

A bit later the lights turn on, "Damn." Someone said as I opened my eyes to see everyone. "Dad." Iris said to Joe as I laughed. "You found our spot." Joe said as they looked at me. "Ruby you knew." Barry said as I laughed. "I found it one day, but I'm shocked that Caityln and Cisco didn't know about this place since they worked at Star Labs longer than we have been here." I said as Caityln snorted. "Uh, well, Nora was gonna stay here, if that's all right with you." Barry said as Joe nodded, and so did I. "Okay, well, now I can get to know my granddaughter." Joe said as I smiled walking to Caityln laughing.

"Will you take care of him, XS?" Wally said looking at Barry, and I smiled. "You got it, Kid Flash." Nora said happily and I smiled. I walked over to Wally. "Take care of yourself. Or I will have Sara make me come after you. Don't doubt me I know Sara well enough she'll let me come after you to save your ass." I said as he laughed. "As long as you take care of yourself Ruby. And Find who you are again. Since I can tell you are sort of lost when you came back." He said as I nodded and we hugged before he left.

When I turned around everyone talked for awhile, until everyone started heading out except Barry, Iris, Nora, and I.

"You should get some rest." Barry said to Nora. "You've had a long day." Barry continued. "Ooh, I'll try. I'm just so excited. Like, literally. Phasing excited all of the electron clouds in my body." Nora said as I laughed.

"Well, if you're not tired, two scoops of cookie dough ice cream sound good right now." Barry said as I smiled seeing the young family. "From Happy Harbor?" Barry Continued as Nora nodded. " If that's okay with you." He said towards Iris. "It is, yeah." Iris said as Barry looked at me. "Ruby are you coming?" He asked me as I shook my head. "Nah! Some time else I should get home I'll see you guys tomorrow." I said as nodded and I superspeed out of their to my apartment.

As I walked into my apartment I see my cat Flinn. As I grab him and then go change when I return my head started hurting. "You can't stop what is coming." The voice said as I saw this figure and everything seemed to go black for me.

Sorry for the late update everyone. I have been busy figuring out the books I'm continuing and not. Plus working on some other books.

No I'm not pausing this book or any of my published. I'll be working on Chapter 2 now.

Once again I will start Batwoman after Flash season 5 because I wanted to bring a backstory. I want to bring in how she reacts and who she is as a character before I add her to Batwoman.

But for now I hope you enjoy. I'll be combining episodes like 2-3 4-6 just as an example. But yes I'll separate them saying
