DarkMoss got up shook out her pelt. She trotted to the leader's den.
"Ashstar I'm here." DarkMoss called into the den.
"DarkMoss, come on in." DarkMoss ducked under the low hanging entrance. Her eyes adjusted to the darkness.
"Am I in trouble for something?" DarkMoss wrapped her tail around her paws after she sat down.
"No, of course no." Ashstar sat up, her grey muzzle tinged with lighter grey hairs.
"I was wondering if you wanted an apprentice." The question lightly caught DarkMoss off guard.
"I would love to have one." DarkMoss said after a few moments.
"I'm sure Lillykit would love to have you as her mentor." DarkMoss let her tail fall completely to the ground. She wished that she could mentor Snowkit.
"I know you wanted to mentor Snowkit, but I think you'd be the best mentor to Lillykit." Ashstar said after a moment.
"When will they be apprenticed?" DarkMoss asked.
"In the morning. You know, you would make an amazing mother."
"What do you mean by that?" DarkMoss stammered.
"You seem to make it a duty of yours to play with the kits, and they absolutely love it."
"I guess, but I do that so their mothers can get out of camp or so they're wore out before they need to sleep."
"It's getting late, you will have a long day ahead of you. Also see if you can get the kits to sleep." Ashstar said after a small sigh.
"Okay, can I tell them that their being apprenticed?" DarkMoss asked.
"Yes, just don't tell who their mentor is." Ashstar answered.
"Thank you Ashstar, and good night." Ashstar laid back down in her nest.

DarkMoss was woken by Ashstar calling the cats together around high rock. She was one of the last cats out of the den. She sat down next to Aquaspear and Silverpatch.
"Today, we have three new warriors and three new apprentices." Ashstar's voice rung throughout the clearing.
"Vinepaw, Cinderpaw And Leafpaw." She waited a few moments before continuing on. "I, leader of BirchClan, Hope that our StarClan ancestors look down at these apprentices. They have trained hard in honor of your noble code." DarkMoss shifted her paws and tried to get a better look at the apprentices.

"Leafpaw, you have shown courage and swiftness with your warrior training. Do you promise uphold and protect the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?"
"I do." The tabby tom answered.
"Then from this moment on, you'll be known as Leaffall." The clan cheered his name a few times.
"Cinderpaw, you have shown spirit and loyalty to BirchClan. To you wish to uphold and protect the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?"
"I do." Cinderpaw's mewed proudly.
"From this moment on, your warrior name will be Cinderstripe. Now," Ashstar called before any cat could start cheering.
"Vinepaw, you have Shown dedication and determination with your training. Do you wish to uphold an protect the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?"
"I do."
"Then from this moment on, you'll be know as Vineclaw."
"Leaffall! Cinderstripe! Vineclaw!" Everyone called the new warrior's names.
"They will sit vigil tonight. Now," Ashstar waited for the clan to quite down.

"Quailkit, Lillykit and Snowkit." The kits proudly walked up to the clan leader.
"You three have reached the age of six moons, it's now time for you to be apprenticed. Quailkit, until you get your warrior name, you'll be known as Quailpaw. Your mentor will be Sageheart. I hope she will pass on her loyalty to you." Sageheart walked up and touched noses with Quailpaw.

"Snowkit, From this moment on, you'll be known as Snowpaw until you get your warrior name. Your mentor will be Aquaspear. I hope she will pass her energy and her spirit on to you." Aquaspear walked up to Snowkit, and touched noses with her. DarkMoss looked over at Mistyheart and Sapwisker, both looked like they Where going to burst with joy.
"Finally, Lillykit, until you have gotten your warrior name, you'll be called Lillypaw. Your mentor will be DarkMoss." DarkMoss stood up and walked through the crowd.
"I hope she'll pass on her skill of hunting on to you." DarkMoss touched her nose to the excited apprentice.
"I won't let you down." Lillypaw whispered.
"I know you won't." DarkMoss sat next to Aquaspear, who decided not to go back to where they were a few moments ago.
"I hope that your new mentors will pass on their skills and make you all good warriors. Clan dismissed."

The clan broke up and went on their ways. Coontail started to assign border patrols and hunting parties. DarkMoss slowly followed behind Lillypaw as she bounced up to her parents.
"I'm an apprentice now!" She told Sapwisker and Shrubberry. DarkMoss waited a until Lillypaw bounced over to her.
"Ready? I'm sure Sageheart will come with us, and Aquaspear should come anyway." DarkMoss told the excited apprentice.
"Yes!" She bounced up.
"I thought you where the calm one." DarkMoss lead her to the entrance where Aquaspear and Sageheart were waiting.
"I am, but I'm excited!"
"I thought you got the good end of the deal." Aquaspear said with a grin on her face.
"Me too."
"Hey!" Lillypaw squeaked angrily.
"We're kidding, or at lest I am." DarkMoss reassured the apprentice.
