No More Pain
[JEAN:]
N-n-n-no! M-m-m-more! P-p-p-pain!
[COMPANY:]
Four kids sitting in cages, the poor things only at the youngest of ages. Thrown away, left astray, never again can they say, the three letter word, "yay."
[ANNIE:]
Hey, hey, hey, hello, hi, hi, hi, wait, please don't say, "bye."
[ANNIE & (REINER, twitching violently.):]
Hey, (hey), hey, (hello), hi, (hi,) hi, (wait), please don't say, ("bye.")
[JEAN:]
What- what- what did we do? What did we do? What did we do to you?
[BERTHOLDT (Jean):]
There ain't much we can do. So why do you, all put us in these cages? Sure, this be the dark ages. But there ain't no reason for is to be in these things. Damn, you're such (a d-d-d-deadbeat King) a slut.
[The beat pauses, as all the kids look at Bertholdt, gasping.]
[REINER, ANNIE, & JEAN:]
Oooo! He said a bad word!
[BERTHOLDT:]
Who cares? We're literally in metal squares and no one said anything about that.
[REINER:]
True.
[JEAN:]
C-c-c-continue.
[The music continues.]
[BERTHOLDT:]
Boom. We've got to sit here and wait, what's the point of "play?" Playing doesn't wipe away the pain, nor the damage done to our brains. I bet Rei's gone insane-
[From REINER'S cage, he screams, which startled everyone except Bertholdt.]
[COMPANY:]
Four kids sitting in cages, the poor things only at the youngest of ages. Thrown away, left astray, never again can they say, the three letter word, "yay."
[BERTHOLDT:]
Yeah. See, this is our way to right the wrong. Yeah, a three minute long, verbally confusing song.
[The beat stops.]
[JEAN:]
V-v-verbally confusing?
[The song comes back on as the tempo increases as everyone looks at JEAN.]
[ANNIE:]
Here comes his musing.
[JEAN:]
Visually amusing. How can words be confusing? That's like saying numbers aren't what we should be using, to count the codes behind a screen. Honestly, this seems, like your only resolve is in a scream, that - quite frankly - breaks the ear, of all of your peers. But apparently, that's how you release your fears. Pff- dry your tears, because kid, that's queer, in the eyes of the sane. They have no cares of our pain, what a shame. We shouldn't have to be slain-
[REINER:]
Woah.
[ANNIE:]
Oh.
[BERTHOLDT:]
Bro.
[JEAN:]
No. I swear we have rights-
[REINER:]
But we can't fight.
[JEAN:]
Yes, Th-th-th-that's what it seems-
[MARCO enters the room, holding his teddy bear, his bag of snacks, and a key.]
[MARCO:]
Hi, I heard a few screams.
[The song fades off completely.]
[MARCO:]
Are you all alright?
