Float
Minako sat at the edge of the pier, gazing into the setting sun over the water. She played with the chain around her neck, memorizing each and every curve and surface of the pendant. Earlier that day she had watched Regina summon a tornado to take Mulan and Ruby to the Enchanted Forest. Mulan. Why did that name sound familiar? She didn't know. The spell that would allow Emma to defeat the demon that followed her was finished. And so was Minako's brain after Henry had filled her in on all she had missed. Like how his mom used to be evil. Or his other mom was the 'Savior'. But he didn't explain one thing, why he had kissed her. She had liked it of course. He was so sweet and kind, but also firm. She enjoyed his nearness. His voice and smile made her heart do back flips. She had never felt like this, not ever.
But she was also only fifteen. She knew enough to question her feelings. She was young, very young. But being around the people in this town had started to change her. Before she didn't even believe in fairytales. Now she knew she was part of one. And then there was the whole thing with the happy endings.
"Minny? You out here?" Called a familiar voice. Footsteps drew close as Tinker Bell leaned down to sit beside the girl.
"Well I'll take that as a yes." Tink said jokingly.
Minako said nothing, but instead she nodded.
"Well aren't you talkative today," Tink chirped, "Regina steal your tongue?" Then she laughed at her own joke.
"No Tink. I'm just thinking." Minako said quietly.
The sun was almost gone now, leaving dark purples to paint the dark sky. It was almost to pretty to be believable. Then you remember fairytales are real and it becomes a whole lot more realistic. Minako sighed as she lay back on the hard wood of the dock.
"It's a lot to take in Tink. And I feel like I found this place on purpose. Like something is going to happen, and I'm supposed to be here to help." She eventually blurted out.
Tink turned to look the girl straight in the eyes.
"Let me tell you a story." Tink murmured. "Once upon a time, in a land not to far away, a girl lived peacefully. She was strong yet kind and tough yet gentle. She protected anyone who had a pure heart. But one day, she came across a man with a daughter. They fell in love quickly."
Minako groaned.
"So original Tink." She sarcastically said.
"Shut up. Anyway, one day the woman had a child with blonde hair and blue eyes. The couple and the oldest daughter rejoiced with happiness at the infants birth. The child also was given a magical pendant. The pendant was said to wield great power, but only for the one with the Mark of Mushu. So for the first year everything was fine. Or so they thought. But in fact, all was not well. For you see, an evil warlock raided the village in search of the pendant the child wore. However, the daughter with black hair and the mother knew that the baby bore the Mark of Mushu, so they banded together and created a portal to a new land, and sent the child to a safe place."
Tink finished her story quietly. Minako looked up at the stars and thought for a moment.
"I think you're talking about me." She said after a long pause.
Tinker Bell nodded slightly, then said one final thing.
"You're very special Minako. I do believe you were sent her for a reason. I don't know that reason yet, but for now let's go home."
And with that they stood and left the docks for Granny's.
