Facility
They pushed and pulled me along, dragging me by my arms, being rather rough. My ankle didn't like it at all. Nor did I, and I was growling the entire way. We passed many rooms, and I could tell you everything about them. From what they do in that room to the equipment. I've been in all the rooms, and I have a perfect mental map of this place.
Except for the Western Facility. They've always kept me out, made sure I didn't go there.
Honestly it made my curiosity burn brighter than a forest fire. Now I'm going in firsthand. Isn't that just, great? This is rather scary to be honest, and I don't scare easily. Going into an unknown area, being subjected to God knows what. I hope I don't have to talk.
Giant metallic doors appeared, and lights blinded me, everything is so white. It's cold too, better than humid I guess. The lights here made my eyes hurt, and soon enough my vision started to blur at the edges and everything began to move. Come closer than away again, spinning too. Did they inject me with something? This is annoying, the spinning world beneath my feet.
"Enough Maxwell, the poor child's vision is impaired." A man in yet another white lab coat stepped from an office, he wasn't holding a clipboard and he seemed fairly, how do I say this, high-and-mighty so to say. His presence seemed to have a super ego about him.
They made me kneel in front of him, my arms still being held roughly behind my back. I growled, my ears laying back more than what they were, I was showing my teeth in a snarl.
The man bent down in front of me, and grabbed my chin, making me look at him. His ice blue eyes scanned my face, and he seemed so unafraid. His dark hair and stubble made him seem like that guy that would always test your boundaries. And he was, and getting on my bad side quickly.
He grinned, his teeth perl white. "Hello, subject 921. I see they finally let me meet my creation."
So this is the sicko who decided to splice my genes and combine almost every animal into me as he could. Bastard.
"Don't worry, where you'll be going, you won't have to keep your mouth shut." He patted the side of my face. "Bring him in boys." He stood, stepping aside and making a hand motion, the doors opening like the Maze's. They forced me up and roughly pushed me through.
I was met by white, almost transparent glass walls, and they were all formed into isles. They pushed me down them, and I could peek at what the other isles had. Mainly, I saw female nurse like scientists, with paperwork and walking between the offices. I could glance at what they held, and it was like a glass room with some sort of futuristic tanning bed thing in the middle with monitors and computer screens.
They turned down the third to last isle, and I looked at the 'offices'. They were all the same, glass corridors with monitors and those strange devices. I don't like this.
They stopped at a certain one, one labeled 921. Does that mean there's 1,000 offices here? That's how many test subjects that were in this Laboratory, facility thing.
They shoved me inside, a young nurse lady jumped. She looked at me wide-eyed. The brutes didn't follow me in, instead they shut the doors and locked them. Locked me inside with the lady. I looked over at her with caution in my eyes, and I was finally able to stand.
She cleared her throat, and set down a clapboard on the marbled rock table. "Hello."
I said nothing and she seemed to become more uncomfortable. I grimaced as I tried to stand fully but my ankle still hurt so I stayed off of it.
She noticed.
"Oh my- Are you okay?!" She bent down to examine my ankle and I growled, stepping back a bit. That seemed to startle her. "If-... If your hurt I need to-"
"No." I growled, keeping my ankle away from her.
She jumped, and stepped back a bit. She took a minute and breathed, then she opened her eyes and she seemed like an entirely different person. "I need to see your ankle, 921. Sit."
My eyes widened at her sudden personality change and followed her directions, sitting down in on the the chairs.
She went over to a cabinet I didn't see earlier and pulled out a wrap and came back to me. She bent down once again and gently pressed around the swollen area, I growled a few times.
She kept going though, and wrapped my ankle, and whenever she stood back up she patted my head.
I flinched back from her touch and growled again, and she gave me a one eyebrow raised look. Then lightly laughed. "Okay, easy there wolf-boy." She turned and filled a glass cup with water and got a pill, setting it on the table near me. "Take that, hmm'k?"
I looked at it cautiously and then decided finally to swallow it.
I felt dizzy at first, but it went away a bit after. I rubbed my head a bit and scowled at the bad taste.
She gave me a slight smile. "So, I need to know, any other injuries?"
Now that I think about it, I think my side was caught by that damn robo-dog.
I grimaced as my side tingled in pain as I thought about it.
She came over to my side and lifted my shirt, and her face went sour. "I can't believe they let those damn things hurt you, it's just not right."
"Neither is experimenting on us." I remarked, my eyes twitching. What a hypocrite.
"I don't do the experimenting, and if it was my way-" She rolled my shirt up and wrapped my side in gauze. "-there would be no such thing and this place would be burnt to the ground before it done anymore damage."
I looked at her in shock, and here I was thinking that everyone who worked here loved this place and its intentions, that everyone was heartless.
"What's your name?" I asked her quietly, watching her throw away the gloves she had on.
"Annabel." She said simply. "Or Nurse 6-0-2." She came back over with a smile.
"So why am I here?"
"Simple. See that machine?" She pointed at that futuristic looking tanning bed.
"Yea."
"We call it a stimulus, I'm in charge of this one. These monitors track your brain as you go through certain simulators. This one does social or humanity sims."
"Simulators?"
"Yep, pretty much. We strap you in, give you a pill to make ya go to sleep, and de the scanners take in what your brain sees, we monitor and shape the world around you inside your head."
"Like a dream?"
"Pretty much."
I looked at the machine with a better understanding and I saw how it could work. I still see it being the design as a tanning bed in the future.
Annabel laughed.
"Did I-"
"Say that out loud?" She stifled her giggle. "Yes, and I agree."
I smiled for the first time in a long, long time.
"So! Since your feeling better, do you wanna get on with it and get it over with?"
I nodded and she grinned.
"Right this way." She said, spinning in her chair and going over to the machine, turning it on. She clicked a few buttons.
"How old are you?"
"How old are you?"I countered.
She laughed a bit. "23."
"15."
She patted the Stimulus. "Go ahead and take a seat."
So I did, and then she made me lay back, my head in front of these weird glass like panels.
"So, imma give you that pill I was talking about." She said, handing me it and the glass I had earlier. "Happy sims." She said, moving back to the computer screens.
I took the pill and became drowsy almost instantly, shutting my eyes.
"I'll be watching."
I grinned a bit, before falling into the dark of sleep.
