chapter 1
"Bored, of all the miserable things that could be going on, I have to be bored as hell, of course, hell would probably be more amuzing than this, if I wasn't already here, having hysteria means people treat me like I'm some sort of phychopath, well...maybe I am a phycho, what the hell does it matter anyways? I mean after all, maybe reality is just an illusion, maybe we're just dreaming, and when we wake up, we realize all this is just a nightmare, well, I guess I should be getting outside, it's summer, it's nighttime, it's perfect.
Nina Jeffers."
I shut my diary and placed it in my dresser, making sure to lock it with the key on my necklace, I then got up and made my way downstairs, mom was cooking something so I desided to peek in, thanking the darkness of the hallway from revealing my pale complexion, but my sandy blonde hair always seemed to shine in the house lighting.
I peeked in and seen fried chicken, "great, I have heart problems and she's frying shit" I thought to myself, feeling quite irritated, then mom peered over and seen me, "nina!" She said, "I'm making you some pasta later, the fried chicken is for a dinner at a meeting I gotta attend tomorrow, you okay with staying here by yourself?" She said.
I rolled my eyes, "I'm fine" I said, walking past her from my shadowy place and into the living room, "I'm gonna go outside for a bit" I said, I heard a moment of silence, before hearing a "be safe!" From the kitchen, I took a deep breath before making my way out the door, slamming it almost behind me.
The outside world was beautiful tonight, clear sky, and a full moon, the stars seemed to dance in the sky, making me wish I was up there with them instead of down here, I seen fireflys dancing in the warm summer nights air, I pushed my long straight hair behind my ears as I ran and danced around, I felt happier in moments like these, it seemed like forever until I stopped and looked towards the forest, me and mom lived in the middle of nowhere, literally almost, the "dark woods" as it was known seemed beautiful, only bright patches of silvery blue moonlight shown through the trees, fireflys danced in the forest as well, I was told there was terrifying creatures that lurked inside, but what could be worse than the nightmares and sleep paralysis' I've already been through?
I looked behind me, my house seeming so small from the distance between the large field, I took another deep breathe before going inside, steping over the small brushes of tall grass and weeds that seperated the clean cut grass of the field behind my house and the forest, I began my journey.
It was very peaceful, the sound of crickets making it that much better, I had never been to this place, it seemed almost...unreal, but this I knew was, I had learned to distinguish what hysteria made me see and what was reality, then, I heard a rustle nearby, it was too dark to see, I froze, my skinny frame seeming to shake like a leaf, I usually never got scared, but the stories I had heard about this place made my anxiety and paranoia rise, I then jumped at what was nothing more than a black cat, it was slim, and had icy blue eyes, I knelt down and pet the animal on the head, it purred and rubned its head against my hand, theb noticed it's collar, it was silver, and in the front had a blue crystal attached to it, "what is this?" I thought to myself, rubbing the necklace, the cat calmly looked towards where I had come from, I heard my mother calling my name.
"I gotta go little buddy" I said, the cat nodded and ran into the distance, I got out my phone and checked the time, it was way to late to eat so I guess I was going hungry, but I got up and ran back home, upin arriving my mom smiled warmly, I opened the door and went inside, "I'm sorry I coomed so late! I'll make it up to you by a big breakfast tomorrow!" She yelled, knowing I had alreaady ran upstairs to my room, "okay!" I said, feeling irritated, I then got into my bed clothes and turned the lights off before setting my phone on charge and going to bed, the full moons light luminated through my windows, as I could still hear the crickets, I was going back into that forest tomorrow, lord knows that whoever that cat was, I want to find out.
