Beginnings
Light slowly filtered through the darkness, but nothing was more than a muted gray color, nearly impossible to make anything out. There was a slight murmur that immediately shushed when my eyes opened, and I tried to move my head, but could not. A light pressure held me to a long, flat surface, and I twitched my hand helplessly. Where was I? What was I?
"Silence. It's waking up." A voice whispered as the others hushed. It? What was I? The pressure slowly eased, and I wriggled free, to see myself covered in black clothes. Or was that... Fur? Such an odd little word. I looked around, realizing the pressure was black-and-gray straps. My hand came down, making contact with the table I had been tied to, but out of nowhere I fell to the ground, a fine coat of some material on me. I brushed it off, looking for the table--But it was nowhere to be seen. What had... Happened? Maybe these people could tell me. I grabbed a pole to help myself up, only to have it begin crumbling through my fingers. I hastily let go, but I was pretty sure it had left permanent finger marks on it. "Hello...?" I said to the air, blindly stumbling around, small claws making a slight scrabbling noise as they touched the cold, smooth floor.
Out of nowhere, a light came on. The pole did indeed have deep indentations in the shape and size of my fingers, and I looked down at myself. I had odd, short fur without much covering me. The people were nowhere to be found, they couldn't help me and my withering touch...
