Jungkook was absolutely not satisfied with the entire situation, though he couldn't do a lot about it now. Taehyung had made up his mind and there was no way to talk him back out of it. The werewolf just wished the merman had told him a bit sooner so he'd get used to the idea. But there was no way to get comfortable with the idea of his mate being experimented on, as the experiment was happening right in front of his eyes.

"Are you sure about this?" It was the first thing he had uttered since he had entered the bathroom. Hoseok got startled by the sudden voice. He hadn't expected Jungkook to actually speak to him. He had figured that the werewolf was too angry with him and so he would get a silent treatment. Turns out that wasn't the case.

"Science is never sure of anything", the scientist spoke up, his eyes flickering over to Namjoon. He had informed the other scientist about the experiment as well, trusting Namjoon to look over his notes and potion, in case he had done anything wrong. "But if this works, we're sure it works on any mutant. Which would be great news".

The words didn't quite assure Jungkook but there wasn't anything he could do as Taehyung glared at him from his place in the bathtub. They had to lock the door from an angry Yoongi trying to stop them not too long ago. The merman trusted that his mate would stay calm for his sake.

"I'll just put these drops into the water, the percentage of the cure in the water should be the same as the percentage that had been in the ocean", Hoseok cleared his throat as he unscrewed the top of the little bottle he held in hand, "We'll just need to wait for a day or more. It takes some time to break off the virus inside of you".

He met Taehyung's anxious gaze, "You ready?" The merman didn't hesitate for a moment as he merely gave a determined nod. His eyes followed the drops that landed in the bathwater, coloring it a light grey.

"And now we wait", Namjoon sighed, uncrossing his arms, "Call us when you feel something happening, alright?"

Taehyung nodded and watched the scientists unlock the door and leave the room. As soon as they were out the door, Yoongi barged in, Jin following in his steps. "What the fuck were you thinking?", the older brother yelled at the merman in the bathtub. He then turned to Jungkook who was still standing in the corner, not having moved an inch since the cure was added.

"And you!", Yoongi growled, stalking towards the werewolf, his finger digging into Jungkook's strong chest, "Why aren't you doing anything against this?" Jungkook glanced down at the glare Yoongi was giving him before glancing back at Taehyung.

"It's his decision", Jungkook spoke, his voice monotone, "I can't dictate his life".

The older grunted and turned his back to the werewolf, "You're way too mellow". He then locked eyes with his younger brother, "If you dare die, I'll kill you".

Taehyung raised his eyebrows in amusement, "That kinda defeats the purpose, but alright".

It wasn't as if he wasn't anxious and scared as well, but he tried not to show it too much. He also was determined to become normal and it made all of this much more bearable.

It was deep in the night when the screaming began. Jungkook had dozed off while watching over Taehyung but had startled awake when this awful feeling took over him, a sharp pain beginning to spread in his legs and neck. He soon realized it wasn't his own pain, but rather Taehyung's.

That's when the merman had started screaming, the pain almost unbearable as it flooded his system. The gills in his neck were burning as well, it was as if someone was pressing a hot iron against his neck. His tail's condition wasn't any better, feeling like the tail might just melt off.

"Taehyung!", he could hear his mate yell in worry. Jungkook tried to touch his mate but Taehyung flinched away. The werewolf frowned and grabbed ahold of his mate's wrist, desperately trying to make it better. Maybe his touch would help him relax, maybe he could take his pain away.

It seemed to work as Taehyung calmed down for a moment. "Your neck and tail hurt, right?", he spoke softly, seeing the tears in the older's eyes. The merman nodded, his knuckles white by how strongly he was clutching the edges of the bathtub.

It wasn't long before the others were gathered in the tiny bathroom. They had awaked by the loud scream and no one had hesitated to run upstairs. "How are you?", Hoseok asked, coming closer as the rest stayed at the door.

"Isn't it fucking obvious?", Jungkook growled, his eyes giving off a strong red glow, "He's in pain!"

"No need to yell at him", Namjoon spoke up, giving the younger a scolding look, "We are trying to help Taehyung with his wish so shut up and focus on calming down your mate".

Jungkook let out another growl, but his attention was quickly back on the merman. The boy was sobbing as the pain became too much to handle, his mind slipping in and out of consciousness. Jungkook grabbed his hand in both of his, kissing the top of his knuckles, "Stay with us baby".

"I-I can't", Taehyung bit back a sob, his nerves crumbling from the pain. He stared at Jungkook, sending him a small smile before he passed out from the agony.

Waking up that morning was quite an experience for Taehyung. He had almost forgotten what had happened, his mind still a bit foggy from the pain his body had went through. His head felt like it was stuffed full of cotton balls and his eyes were dry from all the tears they had spilt.

He immediately noticed that something was off. he wasn't in the bathtub anymore, rather on a soft bed in a random bedroom he hadn't seen before. He then noticed the blanked covering his body, the material very soft against his skin.

The last thing he noticed were the two small bumps at the end of the bed, hidden underneath the covers. He frowned, wondering what they were since his tail didn't have these bumps.

His eyes soon widened and he quickly grabbed the sheets and flung them to the side. As the cloth slowly drifted to the ground, his mouth fell open at the sight in front of him. Feet. Ankles. Knees. Thighs. The whole package! He couldn't believe it. He pushed himself up, trying to clamber out of bed.

"I got legs!", he yelled out excitedly before his face hit the ground. "Oomph". Jungkook ran into the room, eyes glowing red at the sudden call of his mate.

"I've got legs!", Taehyung yelled in happiness again, his face a bit muffled by the thick carpet. He smiled at the werewolf as his cheek was squished against the carpet.

"You alright?", Jungkook chuckled, running to Taehyung's side to help him up. The male wobbled and immediately fell back into Jungkook's arms, unable to use his legs yet.

"I have clothes on! I can wear clothes!", Taehyung smiled brightly, his eyes squinted in happiness. He pushed himself off the younger's chest and flopped back onto the bed, giggles escaping his lips. Jungkook watched his mate fondly, seeing the boy swing his legs everywhere, trying to get them to work properly.

Taehyung was used to moving one big tail, meaning that it was very hard for him to coordinate both of his legs. They didn't seem to want to work together, his one leg going one side while the other went another. "My legs are being sassy", Taehyung mumbled, clicking his tongue in annoyance.

Jungkook laughed at the words before grabbing the other's legs to get them to hold still. Taehyung was on his back in plain boxers and a random shirt that probably belonged to the former owner of the house. His legs were tan and smooth like his tail had been.

Jungkook blushed as he remembered dressing the unconscious former merman. He had been totally naked and Jungkook had volunteered to dress him since he was his mate after all. The rest had been fine with it, none of the boys jumping at the chance of dressing the naked male.

"You can bend your knees like this", Jungkook spoke up, trying to explain the physics behind his legs. He pushed the boys legs until they were nicely bend, Taehyung's eyes sparking at the information. "If you want to walk, you make this movement". He showed the motion people made when walking.

"Hoist me up", Taehyung smiled, sticking out his arms, "I want to try".

Jungkook took the boy in his arms and tried putting him on his feet. He kept a firm hold on the older's hips incase he'd crumble. Taehyung bit his lip in anticipation, mentally telling his legs to stabilize him.

He was amazed at the feeling of being able to stand on his own two feet, though Jungkook was still holding him by the hips, hesitant to let go. "Let me try on my own", Taehyung spoke up, his hand grabbing Jungkook's shoulder incase he'd fall.

Jungkook nodded and slowly released the boy's hips. Taehyung's knees were wobbling, looking as if they were going to collapse any moment. The boy was frail and skinny and so his legs should be able to carry him. They looked quite toned, and Jungkook realized that it might have had something to do with him being a former merman.

The body part Taehyung had always used in the ocean was his tail, so it was the strongest. Maybe that's why his thighs looked thick and toned. "I can do it!", Taehyung yelled out, releasing his hand that had been resting on Jungkook's shoulder.

"I'm proud of you baby", the werewolf smiled proudly, "You ready to walk now?"
