Emma then knew she found herself spending her last night of summer looking for a dead body in the woods with two idjits.
Half of a freaking body as Stiles simply put it. If she could only call the Winchesters now.
"I still can't remember why we're friends again." Emma sighed making Scott turn his head.
"Because you love us." He spoke smiling proudly. Stiles cleared his throat; flashlight pointing ahead of him.
"I wanted to get a good night sleep for practice tomorrow, you know." Scott sighed looking at Stiles.
"Yes, because sitting on a bench is such a grueling effort." Emma laughed.
"No, because I'm playing this year. In fact, I'm making first line." Scott defended himself, scoffing at Emma. This made Emma and Stiles laugh quietly.
"To be honest with you guys, I think I'm going to try out tomorrow too." Emma says as she looks at her feet.
"Wait? What? How? When?" Stiles rambles.
"I said I am going to try out too. How, by trying out. When, tomorrow. Jackson taught me how to play over the summer and I wanna be on the team."
"Well good luck, you have to take it up against Scott." Stiles chuckles.
"So... Which half of the body are we even looking for?" Emma asked. Stiles let out a shaky laugh and looked at her.
"Um, I don't know. I didn't think of that." He spoke.
"And what if whatever killed the person is still around?" Scott then asked, eyeing his buzz cut friend.
"I didn't think of that either." Stiles said, looking slightly worried.
"It's comforting to know you planned this out with your usual attention to detail." Emma huffed, as they made their way up a small hill.
"Maybe the asthmatic should be the one holding the flashlight." Scott said catching his breath slightly. He takes out his inhaler and inhales it slowly.
"Hey, I- Shit! Get down!" Stiles exclaimed. Emma reacted fast and got herself down. And in a fraction of a second, the boys were laying right beside her.
From up ahead, they could see the dim lights and heard distant yelling. Probably the cops.
Of course it were the cops, who else could it be. No one comes here during the night. Oh wait, a couple of stupid Teenagers do.
"We are dead." Emma sighed, letting her head fall into the leaves that were covering the ground. "Yeah, we are so dead." Scott moaned, closing his eyes as he let his head down too.
"Maybe we could make it past them." Stiles whispered. This made Emma look at him. His optimism was annoying the hell out Emma.
"Are you nuts? What if your dad-?" Emma started but didn't get to finish because Stiles had already run off.
"Maybe it's better if we hide." Scott whispered grabbing Emma's hand. They both stand up and hide behind one of the many trees, watching stiles.
That's when a cop saw Stiles. He is so screwed.
"Hang on, Hang on." A familiar voice called. Emma and Scott then saw Sheriff Stilinski. "This delinquent belongs to me." The Sheriff sighed. "Stiles? What the hell are you doing out here?" The Sheriff asked, eyeing his son.
"Oh, um. Hey, dad. I was just, you know, taking a walk." Stiles tried. But lying wasn't one of his strong points.
"Yeah, sure. Where are your usual partners in crime? Scott? Emma? You out there?" The Sheriff called, flashing his flashlight around. This made Scott and Emma shift behind the tree. Their breaths were both held, waiting for Stiles to save them and take his dad away from where they were.
Stiles looked at his dad. "Dad, they didn't come. Scott wanted to get a good night of sleep before the lacrosse tryouts tomorrow and Emma was freaking out about school tomorrow, so I told her to get some rest, but I have a feeling she is watching Supernatural right now." Stiles lied again. Only this time it sounded believable.
"I'm going to walk you to your Jeep and you're going home, Stiles." The Sheriff spoke, believing his son this time. "And we are going to have a conversation about privacy."
His dad shook his head and wandered off to were he came from, dragging Stiles along with him.
"Son of a Bitch. That was close," Emma released a breath of relieve as she and Scott came from behind the tree. "Now what?"
"Now we're standing in the middle of the freaking woods." Scott groaned. "Stiles was our ride home. Just great. We are screwed, once again."
"Wait, did you hear that?" Scott asked. His attention was now directed on a small hill near the both of them.
"Not funny, Scott" Emma said scared, looking around.
"I swear I heard-" Scott started but was cut off by several deer's coming, running their way. In shock he dropped his inhaler on the ground.
"Oh my." Emma screamed as Scott shove the both of them to the ground. The deer's sprinted past them. Emma then knew where Scott was talking about.
"They were running from something." Emma softly spoke as the both stood up.
"Are you okay, Emma?" Scott asked with a worried look on his face. He was looking for his inhaler on the ground with the flashlight on his phone.
But she didn't answer. Instead she was focused on something else.
"Emma?" Scott asked again, looking at her.
"D-dead." Emma whispered looking at the dead body of a woman in front of her.
"What?" Scott's eyes shot to where Emma was looking. He flashed the flashlight the same way and jumped as he saw the top half of a woman's dead body on the ground. Her eyes glazed over but looking in their direction. They both scrambled back from the body until they made quite a distance between them.
"I wanna go home now." Emma said turning away, wrapping her arms around herself. Just as she was about to take a step forward, she was slammed back to the ground by a unseen force. Scott looked around in shock, before his eyes landed on Emma while slowly walking her way. But some sort of animal approached Scott from behind before sinking it's teeth into his side. This made Scott cry out in pain, while he fall to his knees.
"Scott!" Emma screamed, scrambling to her feet. The animal then turned towards her, slowly approaching her. It's red eyes staring into her blue ones. It was like Emma was in a trance. She held out her left hand and this action made Scott look at her. Then she felt a shot of pain go through her arm, affecting her whole body.
Then, the beast was gone.
Emma shot out of her trance and fell to her knees as she cried in pain. Scott sat up slowly with a groan. They were both still flabbergasted from what just had happened.
"We need to get out of here." Scott whispered, afraid the beast might hear him and come back. Emma nodded and then looked at her friend.
"We should go to a hospital." She said.
"let's just go." Scott got up and ran away.
What Scott didn't know was that he was headed for the road, where he was almost hit by a car.
"Scott!" Emma yelled as he fell to the ground. "We really should go to the hospital. We just got a chunk taken out of our bodies."
Scott shook his head. "We'll be fine." He said.
And then a wolf howl was heard which made Emma look at Scott, but he was focused on his wound.
"But-." Emma whined but Scott cut her off.
"We'll be fine!"
Little did they both know, that they were far from fine.
