You live in a city fare

Were the folks all greet you warmly by name

They know and love you and love them in return

You grew up here in Hortalgare

This is your home

But your home is under attack by barbarians

They wish to kill everyone you love and care for

But the king of the city summons you to his halls one evening

He says to you

Child of the city, your people are in a war

There forces are strong and invincible

There is no we can win

Not without a spell

"but alas," you cry "no one in this fine city knows the art of magic!"

"this I know and this I know well" replies the king, "but you see child of the city, the fin folk know the art."

"but where would I find such folk dear king of mine"

"there are waters in the east that the fin folk dwell, but finding the waters is not the hard part of saving your people."

"then what is my king, what is the hard part, do share!"

"oh child of the city, the difficult part of the task is summoning them to you and getting them to speak. To get them to do this might cost you a bit of sleep."

"I would do anything for the people I know and love. They each have raised me and taught me to go beyond and above."

"a mirror you must take with you, that I shall provide. This mirror will summon them to you nd upon giving it to them you may ask them a question."

"that question will be how to save my city I'm sure."

"indeed child, it will be. They should tell you the spell, though the fin folk are fickle minded, and they might deign you an answer."
"but alas I shall still try."

"oh, child of the city, I would send someone else to complete this dangerous task, but I fear that they would instead ask the folk how to get rich, and that would no do."

"no, no it wouldn't, I will go, I do not fear and the one thing I wish for is my city to be safe."

"then be on your way precious child of the city." And the king in his glory handed you a very pretty mirror.

You travel to the waters were the fin folk dwell and sitting by the bank you call upon the creatures.

The creatures' hands slips up from the water startling you. Soon their heads appear above the surface. They hiss at you but your reach out with the mirror.

"oh, fin folk - fair – how might I save my city." They ripe the mirror from your hand and then look in your eyes

"this knowledge we shall grant you, but you must do us a favor."

"I would do anything to save my people," you reply to their terrible slimy voices

They tell you the spell, and what you'll need to do it correctly.

"well, that seems easy enough, what is it that you want?"

"there is a babe in the city in the south. Blonde is her hair,

blue is her eyes,

and she has an innocent mind.

Take her from the mother in the night

Bring her to us when the full moon is at its highest in the midnight sky

You promised to do ours a favor

And this small mouth full we shall savor"

You know the creatures are powerful and you promised them a favor so you pack your bags and head to the south

You arrive in the city and take the babe from its mother, gilt gnaws at your belly.

When you reach the waters were the fin folk dwell they are waiting for you.

"throw the child in so that we might eat!" they scream at you. You don't want to give them the babe. You can

A: break your promise and take the babe back to its mother before heading back home to your city with the spell, (the fin folk as I mentioned are powerful and they are bad friends, but worse enemies, you could arrive to your city to see that every one has died terrible deaths all because you didn't keep your word and you can never sleep because of there deaths. Or your city could be fine, but you can not sleep because you fear that the fin folk will kill you in the dark of night.

B: give them the babe and keep your promise but forever have the knowledge that you threw a baby into the waters to be eaten, you never even gave that baby a chance at life, and you can never sleep for it. But hey, your city and loved ones will forever be safe.

It's either one random strangers baby or a whole city of people you love and care for.
