Chapter 26: Sinner's Carnage
Mia awakened to the shower being used in the bathroom. She reached beside her and didn't feel Vadik's body. He must be the one in the shower, which felt so strange to admit. She opened her eyes and her bedroom was illuminated by the morning sun. All the memories from last night washed down on her and she couldn't help but feel overwhelmed and terribly shy. She kicked her legs in excitement and tried to contain herself but she didn't know how. She mated Vadik and it was beautiful. There was nothing to be nervous about because he made her feel safe and happy.
She squealed silently and kicked her feet as she was overjoyed with happiness. Nothing could go wrong now and she could finally move forward with Vadik. They would start their new life together. All bad times were in the past.
Suddenly, the water turned off and she got up on the bed. She quickly grabbed the blanket covering herself when Vadik appeared in a pair of pants that were still undone, they just hung low on his waist. He saw her and his mismatched eyes brightened. He came over, putting his knee on the bed as he faced her with a smile on his own lips that brought out that boyish charm through for her.
"Hi," his voice alone made her heart flutter.
She bit back her huge smile. "Hi," she answered as she held the blanket over herself.
"Why are you hiding?" he asked. "I've already seen everything."
Not in daylight, she thought to herself. "It's just-" Vadik's hand wandered purposely into the blanket and onto her naked body- "Vadik." She forgot her words as his hands touched her bare back. The blanket dropped and she found herself under his spell again.
He laid her down under him as he crept over her, his eyes glinting his desires as he found her laid open for him. Pushing the duvet to the side, he spread her legs under the beaming rays of sunlight. She gasped in shock and tried to close her legs but he already had his mouth on her core. She felt his hot, slick tongue lick up her sensitive clit and she lost herself to his skill. He was ruthless as he caressed her core, bringing that rush of carnal desire out of her body. She grabbed the sheets and didn't think her morning would ever start like this. Vadik bent between her legs, feasting from her core as his blue and green eyes watched her succumb to the pleasure.
"Vadik, oh god," she moaned as his tongue licked her over and over again at the same spot that sent jolts of hot ecstasy through her.
His big hands gripped her thighs spreading them further apart and they were held in his fists. She couldn't move them even if she tried.
The sun that shined over her body wasn't even as hot as his tongue on her core. She was scorched by his passion and she melted under his touch. He brought this wicked temptation out of her that she couldn't resist anymore. She never felt this way before, but now she needed him all the time. He caressed her clit and the rush built extremely fast. Mia squirmed underneath him and tried to move away from his ruthless tongue, but he wouldn't let her.
The powerful storm that brewed in her body was about to break her. A pool of heat gathered in her stomach and she couldn't take it anymore. Vadik knew that too. He continued his tantalizing pace just as she shattered apart and came hard.
Mia fell against the bed trying to catch her breath. Vadik kissed her stomach and soothingly touched her legs putting them down now. She never thought that they'd start their morning like this, not that she was complaining.
"You look beautiful under the sun," he said as his eyes wandered over her body.
He did too, she thought. Vadik kneeled between her legs, the sun hitting his bare muscular torso that had tattoos at certain spots. His black hair wet and tousled, fell over his eyes rakishly.
"Come here," Mia held her hand out.
Vadik leaned over her as she took his lips as her own and kissed him as if she was trying to keep him locked away in her heart. He let her lead them through the kiss, softly and sweetly, she made him understand that she loved him and every moment that she spent in his arms was precious. He groaned like he was in pain but she held him gently.
She let go first and he didn't back away. He stayed right above her lips hungry for more if she offered it. She wrapped her arms around him and held him tightly against her.
"How did I get someone like you?" Vadik sighed into her neck as his hands trailed up her hips. "So sweet... so innocent." He licked the series of marks on her neck that he left last night.
Mia pushed the strands of his hair back to see his dark eyes. "Don't say that," she said. "You're worthy of all the happiness in this world."
Vadik shook his head. "I just want you," he confessed. "You're my happiness." He kissed her lips, claiming her possessively. He pushed his tongue into her mouth and pressed his hardened shaft against her core letting her know that he ached to be inside her.
Mia heard the ruckus of voices downstairs and knew that her family must have gathered for breakfast. They should also join them and she was more than ready to tell Kade about her mate.
"Vadik, let me freshen up," she asked. "I want to talk to Kade today."
Vadik lifted his head. "I'll come with you," he said sternly.
"I think it'd be better if I did it alone," she said.
He stared at her with his hardened eyes. "There is no way I am letting you talk to your crazy brother alone," he said.
She couldn't help but laugh. "He'll probably kill you," she said.
"Let him try," Vadik answered. "Besides, I told you from the start, I'd rather die fighting for you than hide."
Mia had a feeling she wasn't going to be able to talk him out of his decision this time. She nodded and let him help her out of bed. She was heading to the shower. "Didn't you already shower?" she asked as she saw him follow her.
"Yeah, but I want to do something," he told her as he turned on the water until it heated up.
"What is it?" She stared up at him confused.
Vadik's eyes gleamed wickedly. "Get in and I'll show you," he dared her.
Mia didn't know what she signed up for until she got in the shower space and Vadik stripped off his pants to get under the water himself again. She never showered with something before and didn't know what to expect. He lathered her body with soap and held her close to him, just until he pushed her up against the wall and made love to her slowly. She didn't know how this was even possible, but the hot water gliding down their bodies drove her crazy with insatiable need.
Vadik held her up, her legs wrapped around his waist as he thrusted his shaft into her core. She felt his body hunger for her and she needed him too. By the time he made her come, she couldn't feel her legs and didn't have the strength to even stand.
Eventually, Mia finished her shower in the bathtub and freshened up while Vadik left to get clothes from his room and came back to her. She didn't have time to dry her hair naturally, so she used the hair-dryer and quickened the process. Vadik took a seat on the bed as he watched her braid her long hair.
"What?" she asked.
His eyes were lost in thought. "Nothing," he smiled softly.
Mia came to the room and went to her closet to pick something out. She faced the racks of clothes and selected the black dress to match her mate. She looked back at the heels that she purchased but could never wear... until now. She sat on the settee and took the black heels when her hands were replaced.
"I can do it," Mia said.
Vadik hooked the small buckle on her ankle. "I know," he answered as he looked up and kissed her glossy lips before moving to the other foot. She sat watching him with a smile on her lips and love pooling out of her heart.
"Thank you, angel," she whispered teasingly.
Vadik stiffened as he held her ankle in his one hand. "Damn it," he cursed. "I really want to take all your clothes off and take you to bed." Mia laughed at him as he held his head low in regret.
Suddenly, a loud bang echoed through the entire house, it felt as if the foundation itself shook. Immediately, the alarms started blaring through her room. Vadik got to his feet and somehow had his gun in his hand. He blocked her view and she knew something wasn't right about all this.
"Vadik," she called out.
"We're under attack," he growled over the alarms.
Kade, Niko, Dario, Alec, Mia thought of her family who were all downstairs. She needed to get to them.
Vadik took out his phone and tried to call the others, but no one answered. Mia knew the protocol, her brother drilled it into her head the moment they arrived in this house. She turned around and pushed through her clothes finding the small button hidden under the shelf. She laid her thumb over it and it read her print letting the door slid right open.
"A safe room," Vadik said behind her.
"Kade had it built for a moment like this," she said as she walked in and so did he. This room was hidden away and had security footage displayed on the screen too. She could see every inch of the house and what was going on.
Vadik went and stood in front of the screens, his eyes scavenging for all the information he could find. "Giovanni's here," he grumbled as he went to the door.
"Where are you going?" she asked following him.
He stopped her at the door. "You're going to stay in here," he said.
"No, I can't just sit here," she rebuked. Everyone was going to die and she couldn't just let it happen again.
"Mia, I can't let you get hurt," Vadik said sternly. "You will close this door and stay here until I come get you."
Mia shook her head as tears threatened to fall from her eyes. "Vadik, please-" her entire body shuddered from the pain and loss that she already went through last time.
Vadik leaned down and laid his lips on hers, taking her into a sweet kiss that made her tears fall down her cheeks. "Lock the door," he growled before he pulled away from her arms and left.
Mia hit her hand on the button to close the door that locked her inside and all her family outside in whatever danger they had to face. She turned back and looked at the screen following Vadik who crossed the hallway silently. No one saw him as he came up behind the masked intruders and killed them one by one. He was quick and agile. She saw the hunter in him and the predator that maimed his prey before he let them fall on their knees.
A dreadful emptiness filled her stomach and she felt like she as going to be sick. Flashbacks from the first time they were attacked came crashing down on her. She remembered when men barged into the house and grabbed all of them without any warning.
She looked at the screen and searched for the others, but some grey smoke had been released around the house. So, she couldn't see anything through the security cameras anymore. She had a feeling that this was done on purpose.
She didn't know how much time passed as she stayed locked inside this metal box alone. Her leg that had the scar from her past throbbed, it was as if her body knew that Vadik wasn't safe.
Vadik's been captured, her wolf spoke grimly.
How do you know? Mia asked.
His wolf warned me and he said that he loves us more than life, her wolf answered.
Mia's eyes stung and she cried uncontrollably. She held herself as she sat in the corner of the room all alone. No, this can't happen again, she told her wolf. We can't lose them again.
What are you going to do? her wolf asked.
I need to find them, Mia said as she wiped her tears and got to her feet. She opened the door and walked out of the safe room.
The house was eerily quiet. All the guards had been killed off and the staff must have run off as soon as the attack happened. Mia was all alone in the house but she didn't know for certain. She needed to be careful and get to the basement where her brother's equipment would help her find them.
She crept out the closet and towards the door, when suddenly, a pair of strong arms caught her. The blood drained from her face. Once again, she had been captured by vile men to be beaten to death and she couldn't do anything about it. Her fate would be the same. She'd suffer at the hands of the captor.
She was about to scream, but his large beefy hand clamped on top of her mouth holding her voice inside her.
"Shhh," his voice spoke right above her ear. "I'm not going to hurt you." He was pressed along her back and she could feel that he was strong and tall. "Now, I'm going to let you go and you're going to be a good girl and not scream. Is that clear?" he asked her. "Give me a nod if you understand, zaychik."
She gave a small nod wondering who the hell was this man who captured her and was inside her room. As he promised though, he let her go and she slowly faced him. He stood powerfully tall and robust for an elderly man. He held himself with a scarily dignified manner, his white hair tousled but raked back and he wore a tailored pin-striped suit. He looked down at her with shark-like blue eyes and he was covered in tattoos that were Russian.
"Who are you?" she asked.
"Mikhail Waldorf," he answered. "I'm Alec's and Vadik's uncle."
Her eyes widened when she realized that this man was Lucas Waldorf's brother. She stepped back and away from him. "How'd you get in here?"
"I followed Vadik's scent here," he said. "I thought I'd find him but you appeared." He looked around the room. "Now, I know why." His eyes fell on her and she found a strange calmness in them rather than the vile hatred Lucas carried with him. "You're Vadik's mate, aren't you?"
"Yes, I am," she answered. "You're not like Lucas, are you?"
Mikhail smirked devilishly. "I'm a lot worse than that bastard," he admitted. "But relax, I won't hurt you. I don't get pleasure causing women pain, zaychik"
Mia believed his words because she saw Vadik in him and not Lucas. "Everyone's been captured," she told him.
"I know," he said. "I was tracking them."
"We need to save them," she said urgently.
"I will," he said.
"I'm coming with you," she affirmed.
"That's not a good idea, zaychik," he said.
"I don't care," she said firmly. "They all left me here thinking I'll be fine without them. Those idiots need a good smack to the head for doing this to me." He didn't look convinced at her words and it drained her. "Please, Mikhail, I need my family safe."
His eyes brightened at her words. "I had a niece like you," he shared quietly.
"Natalia," she said.
He was taken aback. "How'd-"
"Vadik told me about her," she said. "Take me with you. I can't run away while my family is killed again."
"Fine," he said. "Let's go."
She followed him and they went to the basement where she could find all the tracking equipment for Mikhail. He was able to engage the trackers on her brother and got a location. They left and she couldn't believe the carnage created inside her house. Everything was destroyed and blood splattered the walls as many were dead on the ground. She avoided everyone and followed Mikhail outside the house to his car. She held the tablet for him as he drove them to some random remote location near a lake.
Eventually, they arrived and Mikhail parked outside some warehouse that had loads of cars parked outside the building. They got out of the car and she followed Mikhail to the building. He didn't walk through the front door though, they went around to the back entrance and he opened the door letting them inside this dark, dingy chamber.
However, as soon as the door closed, Mia saw the dozen masked men standing in the hallway. Mikhail turned his back to them and looked down at her.
"Close your eyes and count to ten," he instructed sternly.
"Wh-what?" She was so confused. He turned her around and made her close her eyes. She didn't know what he was going to do, but she trusted him.
1... 2... 3... 4... She counted slowly and she sensed movement too. 5... 6... She felt the ground beneath her shake as something was thrown across the wall beside her. 7... 8... 9... 10. Mia opened her eyes and turned around only to find a massacre with Mikhail standing in the middle. All the men were dead at his feet and his hands were bloody just like his suit.
"Are you okay, zaychik?" he asked with a guttural tone.
She gave a nod. "Your hand," she said as she came up to him. She ripped the bottom silk off her dress and wrapped the cloth over his bleeding knuckles. "Thank you." She faced his eyes that were strong but kind. She looked over at the dead man at her feet and saw a pair of multiple keys. She grabbed it just in case.
He fisted his hand that she bandaged and turned away to go through the hallway undetected. She looked down the tablet and knew that they were close to her brother. They went all the way down a series of stairs to a dungeon, that was vacant surprisingly. She rushed through the door and saw Kade pacing behind metal bars with his hands in his hair.
"Kade!" She hurried over.
Her brother turned and his eyes widened. "What the hell are you doing here?" he astonished.
"I came to rescue you," she said.
"How did you even find me?" he astounded.
"I had help," she said as she looked behind at Mikhail who guarded the door.
Kade saw Mikhail now too. He let out a stream of curses in Italian that were too dark to repeat. "You're in so much trouble when we get out of this mess," he growled.
Mia tried every key in the lock to open the damn thing. "I wasn't going to let my family get killed again," she yelled back at him. "Also, Vadik's been captured."
"What?" Kade stared at her confused. "Why the hell do you care about him?"
"He's my mate, which was how I knew that the mating bond could save Alec because Vadik helped my limp," she blurted out.
Kade gaped at her as he grabbed his head. "What the fuck is going on?"
The lock opened and it clambered onto the floor. "Surprise," she said.
The metal door swung open and her brother towered over her with fury on his face.
"I was going to tell you sooner but I didn't get the chance," she said.
Kade shook his head as his eyes caught the marks on her neck. "You two already mated," he grumbled.
"Last night," she answered. "And I plan of staying mated to him. So, if your questions are done, let's go save them."
"We're not done with this conversation," Kade warned her as he took the keys and went down the hallway to save Dario and Nikolai.
All four of the gathered together and she was relieved, but they weren't done.
"Niko, take Mia to the safe house," Kade instructed.
"I'm not leaving," Mia protested. "Not until I see Vadik."
"This is not the time," Kade rebuked.
"I don't care, Kade," she answered. "I'm not leaving. If we go home, we go together, as a family." She stared at all three of them.
Mikhail joined them too. "If you're family squabble is done, should we continue," he asked.
Dario took the tablet from Mia. "How will you find them?" she asked him.
"Alec has my ring," Kade answered.
Dario already pinged a location on Alec and Vadik. They were on the floor above them. All five of them rushed towards the stairs and made it together. There weren't any guards here either, but someone must have heard them because a bunch of masked men were running towards them. Nikolai and Dario stood together.
"What are you doing?" Mia asked in a hurry. "We need to go."
"You do need to go," Nikolai answered. "Save your mates. We can handle this."
Kade grabbed Mia's hand and pulled her into the other room and Mikhail shut the door separating them from Niko and Dario who stood as a barricade for them.
Mia ran with her brother down the massive room and saw Alec and Vadik tied down to chairs, beaten up and bloody to the point that they were unconscious. Mikhail stopped them both from rushing in because he was checking the area for guards. Thankfully, there were none. They all must have heard the commotion of the other side of the building and left to check it out.
Mikhail let them go and Mia ran to Vadik while Kade hurried to Alec.
"Vadik," she called out as she saw his bloody lip and eye.
Vadik opened his eyes. "Am I dead?" he asked.
"No, you're not," Mia said.
"You can't be here," Vadik alarmed sternly.
"I am," Mia insisted.
Vadik's eyes darkened with focus as he looked at her face. "Mia," he said with a dangerous tone. "What the hell-" He struggled against the restraints that bound his hands and feet.
Mia needed something to cut them but she didn't have anything. Mikhail appeared with a silver dagger, he slit off the metal wire that kept her mate tied up. She looked over and Kade had already cut Alec loose too.
"We need to go," she told them.
The door behind them slammed shut, the metal sound reverberating through the entire chamber. Mia turned and saw the shadow of a towering man in a black suit that tailored to his broad shoulders and robust figure. She recognized those vengeful sapphire eyes that glared at all of them. Giovanni Romano stood there all alone but he was as formidable as always.
Kade got to his feet standing in front of his family to face Giovanni. Mia didn't know what these were going to do, but she knew that Giovanni definitely wasn't happy seeing his prisoners being saved.
"You really have lost your goddamn mind, Guerriero," Giovanni's deep voice sent a chill down her back. "You'd risk your life to save a Waldorf?"
"He's not a Waldorf, he's a Guerriero-" Mia and Kade both spoke together.
Mia looked up at her brother who knew that they both considered these brothers their family now. The bond was formed and it'd never break.
Giovanni stared at them both like they were insane. "Mia," he spoke her name. "You of all people shouldn't support them."
Mia's past flashed in front of her eyes and she knew that he spoke of how Lucas destroyed her life. "I'm done living in the past, Giovanni," she answered. "You shouldn't either."
He glared at her as his jaw tightened like it'd break from the force. He crossed the space and faced Kade as he put the gun to Alec's head. "I should've killed them sooner," he gritted out.
"Try touching him again," Kade growled back, his eyes blazing with rage.
Giovanni matched his height. "You know the rules, Kade," he said. "The Waldorf's killed my men, now I see retribution."
-Kade's POV-
Kade stood in front of Giovanni knowing the rules of the mafia they ran themselves. Every man was allowed to seek revenge if his gang was attacked. But then if he learned anything these past few weeks was that revenge clouded everyone's judgement. He could've killed Alec and Vadik when he had the chance himself, it only would've ended in history as a mistake because these two weren't evil nor did they carry the sins of their father.
"I made the same mistake as you, Giovanni," Kade said. "I deemed Alec and Vadik as worthless and wanted to kill them."
"They are worth nothing," Giovanni said.
"You're wrong," he retorted. "Alec, Vadik and even Mikhail are good men and honourable." Kade remembered Zero's words to him at the hospital; "You may not understand my words right now, but family doesn't end in blood. Family is who we choose to protect and serve and honour with our lives. You're too blinded by that veil of vengeance that covers you from this truth." Kade was indeed blinded by vengeance, but not anymore. He loved his family and that included Alec and Vadik. He turned around and faced his mate whose blue eyes were on him too. He sat in the chair bloody and bruised, but he held his trust on Kade.
"Why are you even doing this?" Giovanni asked.
"I'm preventing a war," Kade answered diplomatically. "Alec is under Gabriel Centauri's protection. You fight him, you fight that whole pack and me. On top of that, Gabriel owns this city while Zero has his back. You can't go against them."
"And what about the men that his uncle killed," Giovanni said. "What will I tell their families?"
"That you fucked up by attacking the wrong man," he retorted. "And you're doing it again by killing Alec, which will only cause more bloodshed."
"I'm not scared of a little blood," Giovanni growled.
"I'm really glad you said that!" another voice intervened.
Kade recognized that powerful tone immediately and all their eyes went to the second floor, where a woman in black sat on the railing with her trench coat swaying behind her. Zero was here and none of them knew for how long. She leaped off the ledge and landed on the ground with her heeled boots like an agile panther.
"Did you forget whose city you're in?" Zero spoke as she stepped between them and went right in front of Giovanni.
"Zero," Giovanni spoke sternly. "My fights not with you."
Zero matched his six-foot height with her own. "Your fight's not just with me, it's with all of us," she growled.
The warehouse door opened and Gabriel appeared with his pack members who had the entire room surrounded in seconds. Kade couldn't believe that the alpha of the Centauri pack really just risked starting a war with the Romano gang by coming here today. But frankly, it didn't look like Gabriel was scared at all. He wore his expensive white suit and took his sunglasses off as he walked with the Drakov twins beside him.
"You don't scare me, Zero," Giovanni put his gun away around his belt.
"She doesn't need to scare you in order to kill you," Gabriel answered as he joined them. He looked down at Alec and concern swept over his eyes. Nikolai and Dario came through the doors as well with Hunter Centauri who probably helped them.
Giovanni smirked at her. "And here I thought you all fought for justice," he mocked.
"I don't fight for justice, boy," she grumbled. "I fight against the people who think that their twisted purpose is worth more than life itself."
Kade heard her words and never thought it'd be possible for him to see their goddess, but she stood inside Zero.
"Kade." He looked at her and she knew she had his attention despite her standing with her back turned towards him. "Take your family home," she instructed. "You're done here."
Kade didn't raise any questions against her because his priority was his mate. He helped Alec onto his feet and needed to get him to the hospital now because his stitches burst again. Vadik wasn't looking too good either. Both of them needed treatment quickly. Mia held Vadik as well. He still couldn't wrap his head around his little sister being this man's mate. But for some reason, it didn't surprise him. Fate had a great time playing this game with him.
Kade stopped in his tracks and looked at Zero. But her eyes were on Giovanni who wasn't pleased at the turn of events. "Zero," he called out.
She didn't move her dominant gaze. "Go," she said to him.
Gabriel guided Kade with his family and they all left. Nikolai and Dario who were pretty battered after their own fight too. Mikhail was with them as they all went to the hospital. Dr. Stone was on standby, it was like she knew they were coming.
Alec and Vadik were taken for treatment. Nikolai and Dario had to get a few stitches as well. Kade was fine and so was his sister. Mikhail stood against the wall alone, his arms crossed as he stared at the room where his nephews were taken. Gabriel went up to him and they started having a private discussion as all the Centauri wolves guarded the area and had it secured.
A moment of silence allowed Kade a long-awaited respite. He never thought that such a peaceful morning could have turned into hell in seconds. He woke up beside his mate, their bonds tangled together after mating all night long. Nothing was more perfect. Until, they went downstairs for breakfast and a bomb went off in their living-room. The entire floor was destroyed and a gas bomb smoked the entire area before Kade could do anything. All of them passed out and were taken by Giovanni's men. Everything happened so fast, he really thought that they weren't going to make it out alive.
Kade raked his hands through his disheveled hair as he grasped that he could have lost everyone again. He couldn't do anything to protect them. Alec was taken right in front of him and he was helpless.
Mia came over and sat with him on the chair. "Are you okay?" she asked.
He ignored his own tormented thoughts. "How are you?" He looked at her worriedly. "Are you hurt?"
"No, I'm fine," she answered. "Mikhail kept me safe."
Kade looked back at the man standing with Gabriel. "If someone told me that I'd be worried for a bunch of Waldorf's I would have laughed in their face," he told her.
Mia managed a smile. "I would have laughed too," she said.
"So, you fought to save a Waldorf," King appeared with his usual arrogant demeanour ruining the break Kade thought he could get.
But he didn't get irritated. He stood to his feet and faced King. "Yeah, I did," he answered.
King smirked. "Finally, you've loosened up, took you long enough," he sighed.
"It's all Alec's doing," Ryder joined in.
"Poor guy," King remarked. "He's got such an irritating mate."
Kade raised a brow. "And I feel sorry for Klaus that has to deal with you," he retorted.
"Why are you two fighting in a hospital?" Gabriel asked as he joined them. "Nikolai and Dario are done getting treated." Mia and Kade left to check on them right away.
Nikolai was holding his ribcage that was purple and blue. "You two, alright?" Kade asked.
"We're fine," Dario answered as he put his shirt back on to cover the bandages. Mia went up to help him so he wouldn't bend his broken shoulder.
"The Centauri's came on time," Nikolai said. "They saved our asses back there."
"They really did," Kade admitted to himself as he realized that true bonds really do persevere. Gabriel and Alec were friends and would fight for each other any day.
"Yo," Ryder appeared at the door. "Alec and Vadik are awake."
All four of them rushed out of the room and towards the other one where the Waldorf's rested. The Centauri pack were crowding the door, but they parted to let them through. Kade pushed past them and saw Alec sitting on the bed conscious.
"We should give them some space," Gabriel said as he ushered everyone out and shut the door.
"What happened to Giovanni?" Vadik asked as his eyes lingered on Mia who was right beside him.
"Zero stopped him," Kade answered.
"I can't believe he had the nerve to attack our home," Nikolai said who was leaning on the table.
"People do anything when they want revenge," Kade said because he was once like that. He was going to kill his own mate because he thought it was the right thing to do.
"Do you think Giovanni will attack again?" Mia asked them.
"No," Alec said.
"How do you know?" Dario proposed.
"Zero's got a way with people," Alec answered as he got up on the bed, wincing from the sudden strain on his body.
"Don't move," Kade warned trying to get him to stop, but Alec already had his feet on the ground and was getting up.
"Let's go home," Alec said as he leaned on Kade. "I fucking hate hospitals." Kade put his arm around his mate and helped him stand.
The six of them left the hospital room and the Centauri pack were ready to escort them home, despite Kade's objections. But those stubborn wolves weren't having any of it. They were firm on getting them safe and sound all the way home.
Mikhail came up to them and he didn't say anything. "Thank you, uncle," Alec said.
Mikhail's blue eyes gleamed with an unknown softness. "I'm here if you need me," he answered.
"Thanks for protecting my mate, Mikhail," Vadik said.
"Yes, thank you," Mia smiled at him too.
Mikhail gave a curt nod before he left in his own car alone.
They went home and Kade stayed glued to Alec's side. He just needed him mate by his side. Eventually, they reached their property and they went up to the front door when they realized that everything was destroyed inside and the dead bodies were scattered everywhere.
Dario, Nikolai, Kade, Mia, Vadik and Alec all stared blankly at the disarray.
"Now, what do we do?" Nikolai asked.
"We'll have to get it cleaned up," Dario said as he took his phone out.
Kade was tired and didn't need all this right now. "Dario, get the plane ready," he instructed instead. They all looked at him puzzled. "We're going back to Italy."
