Robert Fortune's Office
Cherise burst through the office door to find Frank Jacobs about to strike Dana. He looked over his shoulder at his boss's wife. "Mrs. Fortune? What the hell are you doing in here?"
"What the hell are you doing to that woman?" Cherise marched directly to the dirty cop. "Let her go! Get off her!" She began to slap the back of Frank's head making him dodge her attack.
As Frank turned to his right fleeing Cherise, Jimmy landed a left cross that stunned the fifty-year-old cop sending him to the floor leaving him shakened. "I owed you that, you fucking bastard!"
"Jack!" Cherise smiled at Jimmy. "You just punched a police officer! Like..."
"Your point?" Jimmy shrugged as he released Dana from the handcuffs.
Dana defended her ex-boyfriend. "The creep deserved it!" Then she slapped Jimmy. "That's for leaving me in here with that disgusting man!"
Cherise grabbed Jimmy. "We've gotta get out of here!"
"We've gotta get out of here?" Jimmy stopped Cherise. "Where are you going?"
"With you!" She opened a cabinet door and pulled a keyfob for one of Robert Senior's expensive cars." "Coming?"
Dana yelled at Jimmy. "Who the hell is she!"
"Cherise, Dani. Dani, Cherise!" Jimmy tilted his head. "Are you good now? Can we get the hell out of here, Dani?"
Cherise laughed. "I thought you said ex-girlfriend."
"Yeah, she is."
Cherise laughed again. "She acts like your wife!"
"Great!" Jimmy rolled his eyes. "Can we just get the hell out of here?"
Dana pointed at Jimmy. "Did you just roll your eyes?"
Jimmy held a hand over Dana's mouth. "There are two security guards outside this door. Okay?"
Dana nodded in agreement. Jimmy released his hand from her mouth and she slapped him even harder this time. "Bastard!"
"You're welcome." Jimmy rubbed his jaw before following Cherise out the front door.
"Does Windy know about Cherise?" Dana sassed Jimmy.
"Hardly, I never knew!"
"Come on you two!" Cherise led the way to the lower parking lot, disarming the car's security, before remote starting it.
"A Lambo?" Jimmy smiled at the sight of a cherry colored Lamborghini.
"I'm driving!" Cherise added, leaving Jimmy feeling empty. "Now get in!"
Jimmy sat in the passenger seat looking up at Dana. "Ah, it's a two seater, Dani!"
"Get in, Dani!" Cherise yelled as she pressed the remote to open the gate.
"It's Dana, if you don't mind!" Dana then reluctantly sat on Jimmy's lap. "Watch your hands, Buddy!"
"Are you two sure you're not married!" Cherise shook her head as they passed the two security guards.
"Quite sure!" Jimmy quickly squashed her suggestion.
"What the hell did you mean by that?!" Dana turn and Jimmy's face became the landing spot for a third slap. "You were lucky to have me!"
"Hang on!" Cherise popped the clutch. Smoke began to gather under the rear tires. She turned to Jimmy and Dana. "This is my favorite one!" It was like crazy came over their driver.
Jimmy grabbed at the safety handle as he turned to Dana. "It's been nice knowing you, Win!"
"I'm not Windy, you idiot!" Dana scorched Jimmy but had to grab the overhead safety handle or have her breasts crash into Jimmy's face.
"Speak here!" Jimmy pulled his collar up to Dana's mouth. "Say hi to Win."
"Jimmy, Brad's on his way to the mansion!" Windy spoke with urgency.
"Turn left up here Cherise!" Jimmy pointed when he noticed Brad cutting across the open grass area. "Shit, we're gonna miss him!"
Dana looked where Jimmy was pointing. "Brad! Stop the car Cherise. Stop the car!"
Cherise slammed the brakes of the Lamborghini making Brad turn.
"How the hell do you open the door Cherise?" Dana fumbled before lucking her way into opening the door and falling out of the low riding car.
"Brad! Baby!" Dana screamed as she ran towards her husband.
Jimmy fell out of the Lamborghini and yelled at the couple. "Get to the apartment! Now!"
Brad and Dana held hands as they ran to the front door of the high rise. Jimmy checked the road to see Frank's cruiser.
"Win, Jacobs is on his way. Pack up the apartment." Jimmy crawled back into the car. "Head off that cop car, Cherise!"
Cherise spun the Lamborghini around before taking aim at Frank's cruiser.
"You're crazy, Cherise!"
"I know, right?!" Cherise laughed like a maniac making Jimmy feel uncomfortable. He cinshed his seat belt as tight as possible.
Cherise slowed, pleasing Jimmy. The two cars pulled up alongside each other. Jimmy slipped down in his seat.
"Give her up, Cherise!" Frank spewed believing Dana was still in the Lamborghini.
"You get her if you can catch me, you dick!" Cherise popped the clutch again smoking Frank out.
"Fucking woman!" Frank spat.
"Win? Going on a joyride. Get my will ready!" Jimmy made the sign of the cross though he left religion years ago.
"Relax Jack, you're in good hands!" Cherise slid her hand along Jimmy's inner leg.
"Cherise!" Jimmy intercepted her hand. "I'm engaged, Girl! And you're married!"
"Jimmy?" Windy turned the volume up. "What's happening, Jimmy?!"
"All good, Win." Jimmy thought quickly. "She just swerved a little too hard.
Jordan laughed.
"Not funny, Jordan!" Windy pulled Jordan to her feet. "Time to pack up. We're leaving as soon as your parents get here."
"Do you know where you're going Cherise?" Jimmy looked at his driver then back at the road.
"Jack, I finally got you alone!"
"Cherise?"
"After all these years, Jack!"
"Well, you are married and I'm ~ I'm engaged, Cherise!" Jimmy watched the scenery whip by his window. "This is not the time to bring this up."
"I remember how you would sing to me!" Cherise smiled at Jimmy as she headed across the Lions Gate Bridge.
"What are you talking about?" Jimmy frowned. "I was performing, Cherise! You were trying to get out of Vegas. And you did it! You married the richest man in Van City!"
"Yeah, you're right, Jack. I did get out. But I didn't think he would be a mob boss."
"Yeah well, The Showtime attracts that type of clientele." Jimmy explained. "The last time I seen you, you stole Richard Cranzel from his longtime mistress."
"Why did you bring Richard up?" Cherise changed gears and drove even faster.
"You know you should be slowing down, right?" Jimmy grabbed the door handle and a safety bar.
Frank Jacobs used his cruiser to ram the Lamborghini. "Jaaaaackkkkkk!" Cherise slammed the clutch and brake as hard as she could.
It wasn't enough, the Lamborghini clipped a Fed Ex delivery vehicle, shearing the driver's mirror off and sending the expensive sportscar careening into the curb. The speed of the impact sent the car twisting into the air climbing the safety railing.
Cherise tumble with the car as it danced precariously atop the railing. Her elbow caught Jimmy just below his eye as her head snapped the rearview mirror from the windshield.
"Cherise!" Jimmy grabbed onto her but gravity pulled her from his grip.
Jimmy watched her stiletto come within a fraction of an inch to taking his eye out as Cherise continued past him. "Cherise?!" As the sports car stopped her body crashed down, pinning Jimmy.
Frank watched the Lamborghini come to rest on the precipice high above the Burrard Inlet. "Fuck me!" He brought his cruiser to a stop before calling for back up.
Cruisers of three different police departments from both sides of the bridge descended on the scene within minutes. Frank wanted to get to the car straddling the safety railing and the walking path along the side. Though when he looked down to the water he decided against it. "Shit shit shit!"
Cherise moaned in pain as she laid there across his lap. "Cherise, talk to me, Girl! Come on Cherise! Give me a sign!"
Then Jimmy remembered his lapel microphone. "Win, are you there?" But Windy was packing up the apartment. "Win!"
Firetrucks, rescue vehicles, and ambulances began arriving on the bridge with more people gathering at the Lamborghini.
Firefighters gathered at the window to see blood covering parts of the interior. "Hey, how are we doing?"
Jimmy looked at the first responder. "I am okay but Cherise is not doing so well."
"Whose blood is everywhere?"
"It must be Cherise's. She wasn't wearing her seat belt on."
"She doesn't look good." The firefighter gave a chagrined look that Jimmy recognized.
"It's her birthday. No one should go out on their birthday."
The first responder shouted to his team. "Bring a back board. We have a woman in bad shape. Let's go!"
The firefighter returned and Jimmy grabbed his arm. "Get officer Santos here!"
"VPD?"
"Yeah, VPD." Jimmy verified.
"I'll see what I can do. Sit tight."
"Yeah, I'll sit tight." Jimmy felt light headed and drifted off. Since being pistol whipped in New Orleans his brain is susceptible to blacking out when struck.
Frank tried to push his way closer to get a glimpse of the passenger being extracting from the Lamborghini. Fire Chief Cedric Frost held the cop off. "Please give us room, Officer."
"That person is a suspect." Frank raised his voice.
"This person is a victim first." The much larger man tamed the officer. "Now get your ass back, Sir!"
Santos arrived as they were loading Jimmy into an ambulance. "Hold it there. Let me check on this man."
The paramedics stopped. "Be quick."
Santos studied the man on the gurney. "Mr. Carrick?" He pulled the identification from a pocket. "Jack Legend?"
"We have to go, Officer."
"Make it VGH. He is my suspect." Santos stepped away from the ambulance before yelling for his right hand woman. "Kilterage!"
Kilterage finished questioning the other first responders. "Sir?"
"This stinks of Frank Jacobs. I can smell it."
"You are right, Sir." Kilterage looked to a group of police officers gathered. "He was first on the scene."
"First on the scene?" Santos questioned. "Have Henry guard Mr. Legend at VGH. No one gets in you or me."
"Anything else, Sir?"
"Find out who the hell Jack Legend is." Santos looked back at Frank. "See what connection he has with the victim and to Jacobs."
"Sir, wasn't that man, Mr. Carrick?" Kilterage pointed out the obvious.
Santos agreed. "Of course it is. But why does he have Jack Legend's lisence and credit cards? And why would he be in a vehicle with Mrs. Fortune?"
"Maybe officer Jacobs would know, Sir?"
"I think he would only lie to us, Kilterage." Santos scoffed. "He will need to explain himself soon enough."
"If Mr. Carrick had a warrant out for his arrest, why stay in the city?" Kilterage questioned Jimmy's actions.
"Go on, Officer."
"Why be in a vehicle with the wife of the man Officer Jacobs has ties to?"
"All good questions. Let's hope we keep Mr. Carrick alive long enough to get these answers." Santos wiped sweat from his forehead. "On second thought I want you guarding, Mr. Carrick."
"Me, Sir?" Kilterage seemed surprised. "Officer Henry can be trusted."
"I trust you more." Santos appeared agitated. "Since Carrick's gotten back into the city, I have been questioning how deep this dirt has gotten under the nails of this city. That is why I want you there."
"One woman can help answer that question, Sir."
"Enlighten me, Kilterage?"
"The woman standing behind you." Kilterage nodded.
Santos turned quickly to see a composed but deeply concerned woman dressed completely in black. "Miss South?" He looked beyond Windy to the officers and first responders. "How did you get past the...forget it. Come with us."
Windy stopped. "Not before I know how Jimmy is? Is he...?"
"He's unconscious but should be okay." Kilterage assured Windy.
"Only to be arrested!" Windy looked at Santos.
"Arrest, Jack Legend?" Santos shrugged. "On what charge?"
"Come with us, Miss South." Kilterage added. "Keeping him safe means keeping prying eyes off you."
"Kilterage call Henry to pick me up. You take Miss South to VGH." Santos turned. "I am going to take a look at Jacobs' car."
