86 - Annoying Friendship!
WARNING: MORE OF JATIN'S NONSENSE😂😂😂
"GET LOST!!!!" Jatin shouted and closing the door behind him. Dev and Sonakshi burst out laughing seeing his reaction.
Finally, Sonakshi's questions were answered and she felt a little peaceful.
But just like that, the truth was hidden again...
--------------------------------------
Sonakshi was back from the office trip and she felt extremely exhausted with the turn of events. Her head was throbbing in pain. No matter how much she tried, she couldn't recall anything after their breakup. Especially when those memories she recalled, weren't really clear.
The only face she could recall clearly was Nisha's. She wondered whether she should go and talk to Nisha and clear it out. But since Dev had clearly warned her, Sona dropped her idea.
So many questions were bugging her as she sat quietly in the bed, trying to recall something.
Sona's POV
Just when I was conquered in my own world, Dev walked out of the washroom after a long shower.
He turned around and I sucked in a sharp breath as his shirtless torso was exposed to me. Gawking wouldn't quite describe my state. I was shocked, stunned, flabbergasted, amazed, wonder-struck and mesmerized by his physique. It was like nothing I've ever seen before. His body was drool-worthy. He had a chiselled chest and the skin on it was glowing healthily. His abdominals were sculptured to perfection as his six-packs pop, instantly giving off the impression that he came out of a modelling photoshoot.
He saw the shock register on my face before I could hide it. A small smile played on his lips.
"Checking me out?" he asked and I wished I could just wipe out that smirk on his face.
"Nope! Wait, are you going somewhere now?" I asked doubtfully as I looked at the time. It was close to evening and he had told me that he wasn't going to office. So why was he getting ready for?
"Yea.... Actually, I am leaving for a business party. I would love to stay with you tonight but sadly, this is extremely important. I would be meeting external employers there...." he said looking at me.
"So, you won't be coming back tonight?" I gasped.
"I will....but it will be extremely late. I will ask Neha to accompany you to sleep today... or -" before he could complete I cut him off.
"Can I come too?..............Please?" I asked as he looked at me with shock.
"But Sonakshi-"
"Please I won't bother you.... I will just sit in a corner and then come back with you. I will feel too bored if I stay at home..." I tried convincing but he still looked perplexed with my request.
"Look Sona.." he leaned against the bed frame and held my cheeks, "I will be busy during the whole event. You will feel bored the whole time.... Are you sure you want to come with me?" he asked as I nodded firmly.
"Ok then.... Get ready" He sighed and walked off.
------------------------------
Now I realized why Dev did not want me to attend the party. I felt so out of place there. Thankfully Jatin was there but that didn't make me feel any better. He was busy with some clients too. The music was so loud that it made my skin tingle and my lungs feel like mush. The bass thumped in time with my heart beat as though they were one, filling me from head to toe with music. But the real star was the food. Tables laden with delicacies lined in the corners.
I was getting angry at Dev although it wasn't his fault. He had warned me not to attend this event but I had insisted him. When Dev tried to talk to me, I just ignored him. His confused look created more frustration inside me. I wasn't angry with him. I was angry with my own self! Moreover, all the girls pooling around him made me even angrier.
Even I had no idea why I was behaving like a devil here.
Soon the host requested Dev to make a speech and stepped aside. My heart pounded as Dev walked up the stage. He looked breathtakingly handsome in his black tux and his face held so much of authority and power. The whole crowd burst into applause as the cameras flashed at him. He had a certain charisma that kind of attracted me more towards him.
I could feel the admiring gazes from other ladies in the seat as they started gossiping about him. Well, I couldn't blame them. Wait, did they know that he was married?
Once Dev walked down from the stage, he was again indulged in conversations with some employers. But this time, everyone who surrounded him were women. I tried to get to him, but he didn't even seem to notice my presence. At least before a few minutes, his gaze lingered on me every 5 minutes to check whether I was alright but now, there was nothing. I frowned at my own messed up thoughts.
He is busy, you dumbo!
Without any disturbance, I walked away and sat down in the table nearest to me.
"Bored?" I jerked in shock when I heard Jatin's voice on my side.
"You scared me..." I panted and he chuckled in delight.
"You need anything?" he asked as I shook my head.
"Is Dev always this busy?..... I mean in parties....like this" I asked pointing to Dev's direction as Jatin give me a tight-lipped smile.
"Yea....and look and that girl over there! Her name is Sandy! She had been trying hard to get hitched with Dev for two years. But sadly, your husband hadn't noticed her yet. Hopefully luck hits her this year..." Jatin sighed dramatically as my eyes widened.
"Jatin! You have to be kidding me!" I heaved.
"Not at all..... If you don't trust me, then look at her." He silently signalled as Dev walked towards our table and sat down next to me. But sandy followed him too. My eyes widened but I managed to keep myself calm and watch what was happening.
"Hi Sona, what's up?" Dev asked and I just frowned at him.
"Hi may I take a seat here?" Sandy's flirtatious voice echoed as Jatin chuckled next to me.
"Oh, sure go ahead!" Dev said and returned his gaze at us.
But that woman was on a mission. She kept bugging Dev and asking him questions. The surprising thing was, Dev was also answering her patiently unlike others. Every smile that lit up on her features, were indicating the wrong idea. It's like a cold malice instead of any form of genuine affection.
"See I told you..." Jatin whispered as I elbowed him.
"I trust my husband!" I whispered back, warning him.
"But you were angry on him for too long babe! Now see, his attention is diverted..." Jatin muffled his laughter as I gave him my murderous glare.
"I am going to kill you!" I said and diverted my gaze towards Dev. But he was busy talking to that lady next to him.
Soon the food was served but there was no break for Sandy's conversation. She kept chatting with Dev like she had known him for years. She smiled at Dev in a way that never meant any good.
Ok that's it. I am pissed.
"Actually, you are really charming.... I am surprised that you got married so quickly..." she dragged as I heard Jatin coughing behind me.
Dev looked slightly taken aback as he gave me a nervous glance. I stared at him and mouthed "I HATE YOU" silently. He grinned and quickly averted his gaze from me and concentrated back on his conversation.
"Apparently yea. I am married. But sadly, my wife hates me. So, I am looking for some eligible ladies who I could date." he replied as my jaws went wide in shock. Jatin just shook his head in dismay as he couldn't control his laughter. I wish I could just hit him with the plate! Wonder how Pooja deals with him every day.
"Ouh really? Actually, I would be glad to date you..." Sandy's voice screeched as I cringed in disgust.
"But what about my wife?" Dev said as he kept a serious face.
"Oh....you can divorce her. You know....Nowadays divorce is not a big thing." Sandy replied as her face lit up in happiness. Now that was the end of my patience. I mentally snapped as I jolted up from my place with a force. I walked towards Sandy and placed my hands infront of her, so that I was now standing between her and Dev.
"Hey you bitch! Watch out before you try and steal MY husband! If I ever see you again in any more parties, I will strangle you with my bare hands. Now please get lost before I create a scene..." I spoke in a dangerously calm voice as her eyes widened.
"But....Dev....he was.." she stammered.
"I said get your freaking ass out of here!" I yelled slightly as I felt Dev's hands gripping my wrist. I pulled my hands away in frustration and walked out of the auditorium hall. Dev tried to follow me but he was suddenly stopped by a few men who were dressed formally.
I didn't know why I felt this way. When the girl was flirting with Dev, I felt such a strong sense of.........jealousy? Was I jealous? I knew it was just a joke but why did I take it so seriously? Gosh.... I sure did make a fool out of myself now.
Soon Jatin rushed out and met me while I was standing near the stairs. He said that Dev was searching for me all over the hall. I didn't know how long I was standing outside, until Jatin told me.
"Heyyyy, it was just a joke. Don't take it seriously yaar!" Jatin chimed as I just nodded at him.
"I know... I guess I overreacted" I smiled as he chuckled.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?" Dev shouted angrily as I turned at the sudden noise. His anger was evident in his eyes. "I was searching for you everywhere, damn it!"
I flinched and caught Jatin's hand.
Dev's eyes followed my actions and his jaw clenched. I immediately left his hand and looked at him wide eyed.
"You," he pointed at me, "In the car, right now!" I nodded and started walking but Jatin instantly stopped me.
"Come on dude. She was just standing here to get some fresh air. Don't scare her like that!" Jatin said, unfazed by Dev's yelling. "And partially it was my fault...."
"What do you mean?" Dev gritted.
"Calm down. I was just pulling her leg by telling her about Sandy....."
"Okay, you can leave now." Dev said calmly and stormed towards his car. The car was just right infront of us as Dev had already instructed his driver to get it. Without waiting, Dev got inside and waited for me.
Jatin came up to me and hugged me, "Don't worry! He will be fine....just call me if you need anything, okay?"
"Sure Jatin. Thanks a lot. I really enjoyed your company." I said punching him lightly on his arm.
"I know," and then he raised his voice for Dev to hear. "What to do.... everybody loves me!!!"
"If I come out, you will be in trouble Jatin!" Dev shouted from the car.
Jatin laughed and walked towards the door but he stopped and turned to face me again. He suddenly winked and screamed, "Love you too Sonakshi!"
My eyes widened at Jatin's amused expression and I waited for the reaction we both were hoping for. It didn't take more than two seconds for Dev to storm out from the car and march towards Jatin, who ran quickly back into the auditorium.
*End of POV*
The car ride was a silent one as none of them spoke. As the drive was a long one, Sonakshi decided to break the silence.
"Ok fine! I am sorry! I am the one who over reacted. I shouldn't have come to the party at all..." Sonakshi said with a disappointed face as Dev looked at her with shock.
"Why are you sorry for? You didn't do anything...." Dev said turning towards her.
"I know you are just being patient with me. I behaved like a small kid today.... I didn't know why I..... I was just too frustrated. I am really sorry... I made you mad." Sonakshi blabbered.
Dev's soft lips stretched into a smile but it didn't quite reach his dark eyes. They were lit with sadness with the forced expression of the contrary on his mouth
He wasn't angry. In fact, he was enjoying this side of Sonakshi. The one who doesn't fear to express herself to anyone. The Sonakshi whom he used to love. The carefree, selfless and lovable girl whom he madly fell in love with. She was returning back...slowly. The happy-go-lucky personality of hers' which he killed a few years back was now resurfacing.
"I promise I won't behave like that anymore...... Please don't give up on me" she said softly as Dev continued driving.
His mouth twitched, and Sonakshi was pretty sure he was fighting a smile.
"Dev!!! Say something please" she pouted as Dev turned and looked her side.
"You are right..... You were really testing my patience today. Maybe some punishment might work" he said looking at her as she gasped.
"P-punishment?"
"Yes.." he spoke huskily as his car soon stopped near a dark lane. Sonakshi looked around and found no cars passing by the way. The road that was black in the day time just melted into the darkness of the night.
"What are you thinking about Sona?....You look confused.." Dev asked intertwining Sonakshi's hands with his and rubbing his thumb over the back of her palms.
"I........I was just wondering...... why you parked the car, in the middle of literally nowhere?" she asked as he leaned forward and grazed his fingers on her cheeks.
"So that...nobody could hear you scream"
