Dev's POV

"I remembered our movie date!"

The minute I heard those words, I felt an unfamiliar emotion passed by me. Happiness..... Happiness is the correct emotion. The more focused, the more intense it was. It was like a beam of light to my soul. The happiness was too unreal that it made me fear.

Sonakshi looked at me. Her eyes were beaming with joy as I felt a fear wash over me. I don't want her to recall everything. How would she bear the bitter truth? Will she ever forgive me?

"You will be alright soon, darling!" I said hugging her and she reciprocated with equal passion. Although she doesn't share her inner turmoil, I could see from her eyes how desperate she was to recall at least some of her memories. She wanted to learn and know more. She felt miserable without her memories and I didn't want her to keep on suffering.

"Dev.......... I need to tell you something." She spoke against my chest.

"Hmm...." I hummed.

"I know who Nisha is...." She spoke softly as I stood rooted on my place. I felt like my world fell apart.

"W-what?"

"I remember a few incidents with her.........and......." She paused and looked at me.

"And?"

"And she is not a good person Dev! She has hurt me before.... " she spoke hesitantly as I held my breath, motioning for her to continue further.

"She pushed me-" before she completed, I cut her off.

"Shhh..." I placed my fingers on her lips. I didn't want her to continue. "I know baby....I know....just don't think about her.....and stay away from her and her mum. Okay?" I asked and she quietly nodded.

She looked so curious like she wanted to ask lots of questions. But now, I didn't have any answers to her questions. Even if she asked, I couldn't explain to her anything because her memories were returning in instalments. It was all over the place like a jigsaw puzzle. Now all I could do was, to wait. Wait patiently....

The drive back from the hospital was a silent one. Sonakshi was looking outside the window while I was driving. She looked so quiet ever since she spoke to me about Nisha in the morning. What could have happened?

"Sona.... What's wrong? Why are you so quiet?" I asked as she still kept her gaze outside.

"Why are you doing this?" she asked and I looked at her with confusion.

"What am I doing?"

"You know what you are doing..... You are not taking any efforts Dev. You are not doing anything to make me recall my past. I asked you about Nisha... and you silenced me with your talks. I asked you about our college life, but you brushed it away. Why are you hiding this. Do you not want me to recover?" she asked as I let out a startled gasp.

"What? Do you think that I don't want you to recover? I have been spending my every second to come up with a solution. Spending sleepless nights and stressful days just thinking of how to bring you back. I have talked to so many doctors for your treatment and I try my best not to let any bad memories affect you but you.........." I shook my head in disappointment, "You think that I don't want you to recover?" I asked as she sighed.

"But you can at least share with me some of the incidents right?" she asked with a little hope in her eyes.

"I told you whatever I remembered....." I said not looking in her eyes.

"I am sure that's not the full story though....." she whispered as I clenched my jaw and remained silent. The last thing I wanted was to get angry at Sonakshi. I tried sharing with her most of our college life but obviously, I didn't inform her about our breakup. I told her some of our after-marriage days story but those were only my side of the story. God knows what happened at home!

"What do you want now?" I asked slightly irritated when she remained silent.

"I want to see your office......"she murmured making my eyes widen.

How would I bring her there? Everyone in the office knows Sonakshi quite well and bringing her there will bring more complications since no one knew about her memory loss.

"I.......Why do you want to go there? I mean.... It's..."

"Please.... I just want to see" she pouted as I closed my eyes in defeat and sighed.

"Fine!"

"You are walking too fast!! Sona the office is not gonna disappear anywhere" I said trying to match her speed as she lead me inside the office.

I could already see the piercing gazes from the receptionist, to all the office staffs. I quickly caught up with Sona before she could climb up the stairs. The stairs were too steep and I was scared that she would fall again. She was still limping slightly. But amazingly, her speed was incredible.

"Sona darling.....last warning!" I said as she continued walking towards my cabin.

"Please Dev, stop treating me like a pregnant lady!" she scoffed as I stood frozen in my position.

I couldn't show any kind of reaction as if the muscles of my face had gone on a strike. The pain was heavy. That was the only thing I could define it as. It crushed my ribs and made it hard for her to breathe. No one else could see it. The weight that had been slowly crushing me to death.

"Dev....what's wrong?" Sonakshi said as she came and stood near me. I guess she sensed my change too.

"Nothing...." I told her.

"Sorry....I won't walk quickly... okay?" she spoke guiltily as I looked down at her and smiled. She never fails to make me smile.

I leaned closer to her and pecked her cheeks and she gasped and her grip on my arms tightened.

"I....I hate to interrupt...but hi." Both our heads whipped towards the source of the voice and saw Jatin scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. I wrapped my hands around Sonakshi and pulled her closer.

"Hi..." Sonakshi mumbled awkwardly and moved away while Jatin smiled.

Jatin's POV

Sonakshi and Dev stared at me like they had seen a ghost. I knew I interrupted at a wrong time but what could I do? I just couldn't hide my excitement when I saw Sona in the office. Dev gave me a small smile and whispered something in Sonakshi's ears.

"I will be busy for some time..... Until then, can you entertain your friend here?" he asked me while I kept staring at Sonakshi. She smiled and nodded before Dev left for some important meeting.

Dev soon got busy with his office work while I brought Sonakshi to her old cabin and gave her a tour around the office. There were many colleagues who came and talked to her. But she couldn't identify anyone. She felt nervous as she kept staring at me all the while. Did I do something wrong?

"Nikitha....don't smile like that! You will scare her away!" I yelled as Sonakshi bit her lips to prevent laughing. Giving me a nod, Nikitha ran away.

"Why are you unnecessarily scolding her?" Sonakshi asked.

"Just for fun!" I shrugged and walked away. I always enjoyed working in a fun environment. Somehow quiet places made me sick.

"What did you feel when I didn't remember you?" she asked making me stop in my tracks.

My insides shrink when I realized that she still didn't recognise me. I was trying my best not to think about that. But since she reminded me now, I had to answer this.

"I felt sad..... I mean it's pretty depressing, but what can we do? Life isn't like how we want it to be.... I am sure you didn't expect your life to change this way. So did I... " I said. Although I managed to hide the pain, I guess this time, it was quite obvious.

"Jatin...." She whispered as I stopped and turned around, only to see her eyes glistening with tears.

"I.......... remember you!" she said and I stood rooted at my place. Ouh wait, she did?

No.....no this is a dream.

I bet I had looked like an alien who was in some kind of trance. She slowly moved forward and placed her forehead on my shoulder as tears dripped down her cheeks. I couldn't believe this was happening. Worst of all, I didn't know how to handle this situation. Did Dev know about this?

"Sona....Oh m-my god..." I whispered as I placed a hand on top of her head. Her hands were clenched in tight fists and her body shook lightly. She stood there for a few seconds which turned into a minute.

"I remembered everything that happened during our college days.......... Our friendship.....the breakup and..........that's all. I don't remember what happened after that. I saw the same person who named herself as Neha that day.......in Dev's house. Her name isn't Neha........she is N-nisha" Sonakshi stammered as I just swallowed and nodded.

"I tried asking Dev...... But he isn't telling me anything..... Should I wait for him to tell me?" she stifled her cries as I just stared at her unbelievably.

She just remembered half of her memories and she had not told it to Dev yet? Gosh, that was a big thing. But I couldn't blame Dev, because he can't share everything with her too. Maybe not yet. We all feared her health now. She won't have the energy to handle everything even if Dev told her the truth.

Sonakshi, knowing about Nisha was already a big thing. If she finds out all the cruelties she had gone through, I am sure she would go into depression. There is no way she will forgive anyone.... Gosh.... What should I do? Wait....which friend do I help?

"I.....I think you should tell Dev, Sona. He would be able to explain to you better about what happened these years..." I tried convincing but her face looked so restless. She wanted me to answer her questions. But that was unfair. How could I say this? If Dev knows, he will start digging my grave.

"I have tried asking him, but he isn't saying anything." She whined as I sighed.

"I will come with you. We can ask together" I said as she wiped her eyes and looked at me with shock.

"Really?"

"Really!" I said and brought her to Dev's cabin.

"Dev..... she wants to know what happened, after your break up!" Jatin blurted as Dev gave him a murderous glare.

By now, Jatin had secretly messaged Dev, informing him that Sonakshi recalled most of the incidents and she wanted to know the rest of the story too. But Dev was in a dilemma. He couldn't reveal anything to her now as knowing her past would only create more problems in their life. He wanted Sonakshi to get her memories on her own and not forced. She was recovering quickly and that was a good news. But that could be a bad news soon if the situation isn't handled properly, Dev thought.

"What do you want to know Sona?" Dev asked as his focus was only on Sonakshi.

"I......I want to know how we got married...." She asked gulping her fears. She had recalled their breakup and finally knew how they were broken apart. But something was missing in that story. She couldn't recall how Dev would have married her after that ugly separation.

The worst part was, she didn't recall Ishwari's part in it...

"I forcefully married you!" Dev said as Jatin barked out a laugh.

"You are lying!" Sona gasped as she looked startled by Dev's answer.

"Ok fine....... It was arranged and we got married. Enough! Please don't ask me for more!" Dev huffed while Jatin was enjoying the conversation.

"Dev....but did your family accept-"

"Trust me Sona! If I want to get married to you, then I will even conquer the whole world, if that's what needed." Dev said.

"Oh god! That's so corny" Jatin chuckled. Dev rolled his eyes and just ignored him.

"Was it a complete arranged marriage? I mean.......like" she gulped and she sat near Dev. ".....we both were.......you know...... I mean...." Dev knew what she was thinking. She wanted to know whether they were really a couples or just fulfilling their responsibilities for the sake of the marriage.

"We were just like friends! Don't worry..." Dev spoke as he was getting irritated over himself for all the lies he was speaking.

"Yeah....like friends sleeping with each other!" Jatin butted in as Dev clenched his teeth and glared at him.

"Shut the fuck up!" Dev growled as Sonakshi just shook her head in defeat.

"I know you guys are lying....." she said sadly. "You guys are making fun of my memory.....and it's really not funny!" she mumbled before gulping down her throat.

Dev felt a lump on his throat as he saw her blinking back her tears. He walked up to her slowly and pulled her closer to him wrapping his arms around her. His embrace was warm. His big and strong arms seemed very protective when they were wrapped around her frail body. The world around her melted away as she squeezed him back, not wanting the moment to end.

"I am sorry darling...... trust me. None of it I said now was true. But I will definitely tell you the truth one day. Just not now. Can you give me some time?" Dev said placing a kiss on her hair as she hugged him tightly.

"Okay..." she mumbled.

"You know that I love you right?" Dev asked lifting Sonakshi by her chin to face him.

"Hmm" she hummed.

"Guys please warn me if you want to kiss!" Jatin giggled, closing his eyes from behind causing Dev to groan and Sonakshi to chuckle.

"I can't believe you are still talking despite the look on my face!" Dev huffed and glared at Jatin who just kept giggling.

"That's because I didn't see your face!!!!!" he said making Sonakshi burst into laughter.

"Okok.....stop it guys. I just wanted to ask you something." she said turning to Jatin. "How did I meet with an accident.... I mean....all of the sudden?" she asked as Jatin blinked a few times and stared at Dev for help.

Dev quickly pulled away and shook his head at Jatin, warning him to shut his mouth.

"Um....I have no idea. In fact, I was at home when I received the call of your accident." Jatin blurted as Dev mentally face-palmed himself.

"Um....you just went out for shopping....and a drunk driver hit you...... Anyway, why are we talking about this right now? It's over right?" Dev huffed as Jatin nodded in agreement.

"Ohh.... I guess I am just thinking too much. Thanks Jatin..." Sonakshi smiled.

"Oh, the pleasure is all mine. But I am grateful that we are finally getting to see you healthy, because this guy just screwed his, as well as my brain when you were not awake!" Jatin spoke as Sonakshi looked at Dev in awe.

"Ohh.....I am sorry. But what exactly happened to me after the accident?" Sona asked as Dev was fearing where her questions were leading to.

"Hmm.....nothing much. You just met a disastrous accident, which you fought through pretty well. You...um....went into coma for around three months....and then...yea that's it. You know the rest of the story.... So yeah!" Jatin winked at Dev, feeling proud of how he handled the situation.

Sonakshi nodded at his words and wanted to ask more questions. But before she could continue, Dev interrupted.

"If you are done talking, then let's get going!" Dev said getting irritated.

"Yeah I gotta go honey!" Jatin sighed.

"Don't you fucking call her that!" Dev spat.

"Chill man! We are just friends, aren't we?" Jatin asked Sona.

"Yes.." Sona giggled while Dev glared and walked towards Jatin.

"Okay, okay she is all yours. Spare me! Such a possessive brat." Jatin chuckled while walking out.

"Ouh yea.... Jatin please tell Pooja that I gave her a goodbye kiss. I forgot to give it the last time I met her." Dev said as Jatin stopped in his tracks.

"GET LOST!!!!" Jatin shouted and closing the door behind him. Dev and Sonakshi burst out laughing seeing his reaction.

Finally, Sonakshi's questions were answered and she felt a little peaceful.

But just like that, the truth was hidden again...
