Cracked Vise
I watch the rain stream down
When my tears cannot fall
Gray skies weeping whispers
While sadness spawns heart's stall
Search for a speck of hope
In nature's quest for life
A moment to amuse
A scene to crack my strife
A pair of chickadees
Hop dance across red rail
Beaks grab bits of peanut
Then off they quickly sail
Then a female cardinal
Appears her life is rough
Missing many feathers
Demeanor flowing tough
Raindrops are still streaming
Soft glow tints gray clouds white
Starts a heartbeat stutter
A tinge of will to fight
Two wrens land on tree branch
And trill a short duet
A blast to both my ears
A shock to my regret
A lone summer flower
That should have been long dead
Bursts in purple color
And gently nods her head
The sadness still remains
But hope has filtered in
Wild kin have cracked the vise
A spark now glows within
