( CHAPTER SIX - GAUNTLET MATCH )
( CHAPTER SIX - GAUNTLET MATCH )
▁▁▁
"AND THEN HE CONFESSED HIS LOVE FOR ME." Logan sighed out, trying her hardest to keep her eyes on the road and her hands on the wheel.
Bayley went immediately silent as her eyes looked down towards the road, watching as the yellow lines disappeared as their vehicle moved forward with speed.
Right now, Logan was telling her that Becky had been right and that Balor had really turned up at her hotel room three weeks ago- at three in the morning. When she first had heard it from Becky's mouth. she kind of shook it off due to the fact that she didn't really think he would show up at her room, until Logan had told her what happened between the two. Finn showed up in the early morning hours when the hotel was asleep, told her he couldn't sleep without talking to her first and then literally told a lie straight to her face when he mentioned he broke it off with Cathy.
Logan didn't know he lied to her that night until Bayley informed her that him and Cathy were rocky and barely talking to one another due to the fact that Logan was back; but they didn't break up. Bayley didn't want to believe the words that were coming out of Logan's mouth right now. She couldn't believe that Finn would lie to someone about something so big. He was a classy type of man who wouldn't lie to anyone- let alone someone that he loved. He wouldn't dare cheat on someone for the reason of anger, but she guessed that anger made people do unimaginable things.
But now that it was three weeks later since the hotel argument between Finn and Logan-- Finn had offically broke it off with Cathy a week later after visiting her that night. And the remainder of those two weeks, Finn had been trying to blow up her phone to the point where she had to block his number since she had grown angry at his constant begs of him wanting to take her out to talk about everything that happened between them, but all of his messages had one thing in common - Logan left him on read every time.
And it didn't help the fact that Logan was beyond angry due to the fact that she had learned from someone else that he had lied to her, and she was even more angry when she found out that Finn had broken it off with Cathy a WEEK later after the fact that he proclaimed that he still had feeling for her.
"I mean, what the hell are you even suppose to do in that moment?" she added and turned her head towards the brunette that was sat next to her, a sigh of frustration coming from the queen's lips.
Bayley shrugged back over at her and replied with a mutter, "Probably slap him like you did when he tried to kiss you." she took one last glance at Logan's pissed off expression before looking back at the window as the vehicle passed the arena they were going to be performing in tonight, which would be a big move for both of their careers.
"When the hell did my life become a romantic movie?" Logan whined, clearly frustrated that her love life was growing with more drama than what it was, and then the fact that the man was clearly confused of what he wanted-- rather of thinking with his brain, he rather think with his dick.
"Since you agreed to date Fergal Devitt-" Bayley shot back towards her as her head turned to the side to briefly glance at Logan who was dressed in a velvet type of fabric- pink dress, that showed off the shape of her pretty body. "-and why do you look like that?
Logan turned her head to glance over at Bayley with a confused expression before she looked down at her outfit, which to her seemed to be pretty played down since she was wearing her white jays to dress down the rest of her outfit, but apparently to the brunette's current choice of clothing-- she looked like she was ready to walk the red carpet-- or that's what Bayley told her.
"It's a dress, Bales; and we're both competing for the qualifying match for Money In The Bank."
Bayley rolled her eyes when she mentioned the upcoming paper-view that she wouldn't be apart of. She would be competing in a seven woman gauntlet match along with Logan, but the only downfall that Bayley had was coming in first, that and the fact that Logan was guaranteed the last and seventh spot. Money In The Bank was about two weeks away from now- and both girls were training like crazy these last few weeks- doubling up the cardio and Logan had snagged a few new moves to try out tonight from Jeff.
"Yeah, but I'm not winning tonight- so it's fine that I look like this." Bayley replied back while she gestured with her hands down towards her simple white T-shirt which was covered up with a professional looking blouse, and some jeans.
Logan frowned slightly as Bayley never bothered to even look over at her. Hery eyes had returned towards the window as Logan pressed on the gas the minute the dark traffic light turned to a brighter green.
"I'm sorry for taking the spot." Logan said sincerely. She knew how much Bayley had wanted this but it seemed like once again- she had wedged herself into the equation when she never intended too. She would've been fine without the final entry into the paper-view since she automatically had a re-match for Sasha's belt- the one she never lost.
Bayley looked over towards her with worried eyes, noticing that she had made her friend feel bad but it wasn't her fault, not really. "It isn't your fault. I guess Vince likes you more than he likes me."
Logan glanced over at her briefly and upon not looking at the road and where she was headed, she missed the turn down to The Coliseum- where they were performing. Bayley was quick to notice that she missed the turn and raised her hand in the air, "Shit, Logan-- you were suppose to turn back there!?"
Logan's eyes widened in frustration and she raised her own hand while one remained on the steering wheel. "Well maybe- just maybe- if you shut your mouth for one moment, I wouldn't of missed the turn." she yelled back with a smile slipping onto her face as she looked through her rear-view mirror to see someone riding her ass.
"And you're in the passenger's seat! You're suppose to do the navigating, Bayley!" she looked over towards Bayley as she huffed with frustration, turning the vehicle down a less crowded street to turn in to one of the empty driveways and turn back around.
"What the hell are you doing? You can't get into the arena from this side."
Her perfectly tinted eyebrows rose on her forehead as she slammed on the breaks, which caused a screeching sound throughout the street. "Give me the damn phone." Logan sneered with anger as she held out her hand, waiting for Bayley to place her phone in her opened palm.
"When you calm down from your road rage, I will." Bayley raised a challenging eyebrow at her, holding the phone further away from Logan when she paused and tried to reach it.
"Bay-" She reached out her hand to grab it again, but Bayley pulled it back which made Logan glare back at her with a pout on her lips. "give. me. the. PHONE."
When Bayley had finally passed her a phone and a chuckle escaped from beneath her lips from the look on the Latina's face. Logan pulled out of the drive way and started to drive down towards the arena, taking another route to get back on the main highway.
Moments later, after Bayley took their suitcases and bags out to the entrance of the arena and decided for Logan to park the vehicle - since she was already in the driver's seat. Logan grabbed her bags from Bayley's arms and they both started to walk towards the back entry way for the superstars. Camera men were stationed outside of the arena to catch the women who were entering in the qualifying match- so they can catch them entering the arena for the commercials. Since the sound would be muted on the video, they continued with talking or more like Logan yelling at the fact that Bayley forgot to give her the directions to turn.
It was only until both women had entered the Women's Locker room, that the nerves had really started to hit Logan. She had been in a couple hardcore matches back in TNA -- a steel cage while women here in the WWE were still wishing they could compete like the men. But she had always had really bad nerves when it came to upcoming paper-views, maybe it was the fact that she had come back from injury and now she was going to be competing in a fucking ladder match in two weeks.
When she left the locker room after putting her bags to the corner of the room - next to where Bayley left hers, she had heard a familiar voice down the hallway where the canteen was. Her head spun in the direction and when she saw the ginger haired man, she squealed.
Sami Zayn had heard her foot falls as she practically ran full speed towards him, her feet bellowing throughout the whole walkway as she spud past the crew members - almost knocking one of them down when she accidentally hit one side on. She didn't even bother saying sorry since she was so caught up in the sight of the ginger, and that made Sami laugh at her.
He almost toppled over when they collided- her chest hitting his which knocked the wind out of him. It didn't help the fact that he could barely breathe now that her legs were wrapped tightly around his torso as she tucked her head into his neck, "Rami!" she cooed, her voice barely heard due to her mouth being covered by his plain black zip-up sweater.
'Well, hello to you too, angel." he huffed out as a smile slipped onto his own face.
They had barely gotten to see each other due to the fact that he performed on the Smackdown brand, but in April - he had been drafted to RAW. And what made this even more exciting besides the fact that she had another friend performing on the same brand as her, was the fact that he too - was a heel.
She pulled her head from his shoulder and took a good look at his features while an adorable grin graced her beautiful features. He had always thought she was hot, but due to the fact that Finn had dated her, he would never even think of getting involved with her but he couldn't stop the butterflies erupting through his stomach when her grin grew wide.
"Uh, am I interrupting something here?" Logan's expression fell as she looked to the side of Sami, seeing Kevin standing there with an awkward look on his face.
Logan looked back at Sami, and her grin even grew wider as she unclasped her long legs from his waist and his hands left her back. "Nope, just haven't seen my friend in ages." she tucked herself under his warm arm as she glanced over at Kevin. "I don't believe we've officially met, Logan Jane." she stuck out her hand for the Canadian to shake as her grin grew more playful when Kevin raised an eyebrow at her aura that surrounded her.
She was... almost too bubbly.
But none the less, Kevin didn't want to be rude and leave the pretty girl hanging, so he grabbed her hand and gave her a firm shake. "Kevin Steen." he told her his real name as he met her chocolate gaze.
She grinned back at him as they shook hands, nodding while she did so. It had always seemed that Sami would rub his own hint of sunshine and bubbly personality onto her whenever she was around him. She grew happier in his presence as if his own aura captured her.
Sami Zayn and Logan Perris were like two peas in a pod, brightening each other up whenever one of them caught the glance of the other.
The Queen and her Underdog.
~
The Arena was packed full with more than seventy thousand people, and Logan couldn't get in a comfortable place to stretch without anyone looking at her. She had just done a promo for the gauntlet match that was happening after Sami's 'public apology', telling everyone that she would win the match, and she was but the universe didn't know that.
Now she was squatting down in a empty hallway, the lack of light making it rather dark but it was still illuminated from the working light down the hallway. She exhaled harshly while her brown eyes closed shut, leaning her head against the cool brick wall as she cleared her mind. But her mind had always wandered, and they came around to her family or more so - her mother. It has been a few days since she had last talked to her, and the last time that she did - her mother had been looking okay, not good, but okay.
She let her lips turn down into a frown at the thought of her mother not being able to see her get married, have children, and do what mothers do before they passed - and that killed her inside. Her mother was her rock, she was the one woman who would support her decisions even though she would be hesitant first. She decided that this match would not just be for her, but for her mother too.
Tonight, she was going to prove to everyone that she was coming through the division once again to claim something she had never lost. She wasn't going to use her automatic rematch to get her title back - no - she was going to work for it like everyone else.
"Wow, don't you look excited?" His voice caught her attention and she opened one of her eyes to see Finn walking towards her with a little grin on his face. As he grew closer to her, he studied her worried expression and he knelled down in front of her to put a warm hand on her shoulder, which to his surprise, she didn't push off. "You haven't been answering my texts."
The words that left his mouth wasn't a question but rather a statement that she had no desire to answer. Instead, she let out a groan as her head banged against the wall while Finn took a seat on the cold floor, the marble flooring hitting his bare thighs which sent a jolt through him.
She opened her brown eyes, the blue art that decorated her lids disappeared behind her thick band of lashes. Her expression had tightened quickly now that someone was watching her. She had never liked people seeing her vulnerable, and Finn could tell that she was stressing out about the simple match that was going to take place.
He watched her as she breathed out and then gestured towards him with his fingers. "Alright, bring her in." Finn said and Logan had to look at him for a moment while his eyes still glued to her face and his playful expression changed into a more serious one.
She bit down on to her bottom lip before scooting towards him while a sigh escaped from her lips. A second later, she found herself tucked under his arm while his jacket laid across his thighs, and boy did she feel a little awkward sitting so close to him right now.
But this wasn't some sort of game to him, he tried to soothe her nerves down as his hand went up and down her left shoulder but his eyes were staring at the wall as her head leaned back.
"Don't think this fixes things between us right now, because I'm too stressed to fight with you." Logan's stern voice broke through the silence as they sat next to each other.
She heard Finn chuckle next to her and his chest moved her arm slightly, "I don't understand why your so stressed- it's basically like an elimination match." he replied to her. "What number are you anyways?"
"seven." she answered him in a breath, and snorted when Finn himself let out a snort of amusement. This woman was nervous when she had the biggest advantage for this match. She would be going in all fresh while the last woman in the ring had to go through six others first.
She shook her head as her own expression of amusement slipped onto her face. She supposed that her reason for being nervous was a stupid reason, now that she had said it out loud that she did have the advantage in the match-- but the thoughts of the match going wrong still hung in her mind.
"I don't know.. I guess I'm just afraid that something will go wrong," She shook her head as she tried to explain her feelings which had always been hard for her to talk about. She wasn't the type of woman to just hang herself dry for everyone to see. "like maybe, I'll land wrong on my shoulder or I-"
Finn turned his head to stare over at her and he couldn't help but notice that he didn't like all the makeup caked on her face, that he preferred her natural. "I think you stress yourself out too much by worrying off the possibility of getting injured. Yes- it had happened and I understand that you want to walk on eggshells right now but no one will attack you like Sasha did." he told her which she knew that he spoke the truth.
Every woman out there that were competing with her tonight were complete professionals, and she couldn't let the possibility of getting injured hold her back anymore. She understood that some accidents happen, and she understood the possibility that Sasha didn't mean to injure her and take her out of action for eight months. It's not like the woman went out to end her career. She just wanted to get her own message out there that she wanted her shot at the title, and ended up injuring Logan in the process.
"You can't let that hold you back." Finn shook his head as his blue eyes studied her expression, a simple smile slipping onto her lips meant that his talk worked for her.
Logan took him by surprise when she leaned her head onto his shoulder, making his head back away from her slightly when she invaded his space. Thank you, I needed to hear that."
They sat in silence for a few moments before Finn decided to voice out his thoughts. "Does this make us friends?"
Logan breathed out a chuckle and propped her head up from his shoulder, deciding that it was time to collect herself from the floor when she heard the Riott Squad's song burst through the arena. She dusted the collected dirt from her tights and the back of her royal blue ring gear as Finn stood up in front of her.
"Don't push it, Balor." she replied back as her lips had quickly turned in to a flirty smirk. She was about to turn on her heel but stopped when she was turned to the side, turning her head to glance back at the Irish man who was still starring at her. "Thanks again for the pep talk." the corner of her mouth tugged up before she fully turned around and started walking down the hallway.
As she made her way towards the gorilla position, she noticed that JoJo's voice echoed throughout the arena- telling her that Bayley had been eliminated which made a frown come onto her face.
"Hey, I was just looking for you." Seth started walking backwards as he spotted her walking up the way he was heading down.
Logan turned her head to the side. "Well, you've found me.. What's up?" she asked as she pulled a piece of her curly hair behind her ear.
"I just wanted to wish you luck on your match tonight."
Logan chuckled as the two contained to walk towards the gorilla, striking up conversation as she waited for her turn to go out. She even managed to catch Bayley walking back towards the locker room with a broken frown placed on her face while her arm held onto her stomach. Logan pulled her into a hug and expressed how sorry she was that her friend didn't get a shot of what every woman was working towards. Bayley hugged her back and the two bid goodbye, continuing her walk towards the gorilla along with Seth.
As soon as she walked up towards the monitor, she heard Mickie's song blast through the arena and whoever won this match- would be the one she was facing. She prayed that instead of Mickie, she would get Ruby since she had already faced three other woman. Her brown eyes studied the girls in the ring, she hadn't even faced Ruby at all - so she was at some disadvantage here since she didn't know Ruby's move set that well.
Mickie was pretty much dominating the match as soon as she entered the ring, which was pretty explainable due to the fact that Ruby was probably already tired. But all it took was a shot of adrenaline had the tables turned, and Ruby had hit her.
Logan was taking quick but deep breaths as her friends had walked up to support her going out there tonight. Sami was the first one to show up, and then Finn was behind him even though they were not on the best of terms at all-- he still wanted to show her that he cared.
The energy from the crowd had surprised her when she stepped through the curtain as soon as Mickie was eliminated when Ruby rolled her up. Everyone had cheered for her even though she was considered a heel, but people loved her anyways. Despite her in-ring character change, she was still considered to be the down to earth woman, with a mean streak.
When she stepped out onto the stage, she noticed that Ruby was leaning against the ropes, trying to collect herself from the little time that she had before Logan unleashed her wrath on her. She quickly slid into the ring, making sure that she quickly picked herself back up and not made the same mistake that Dana had previously did- which earned her a whirlwind of punches.
As soon as Logan got into the ring, Ruby had smirked at her as the two woman began to circle one another- and Logan began to size her up with her brown eyes. Ruby launched at her, and Logan twirled around her body, rolling her up into a pin but the woman kicked out at a one.
Both ladies got up quickly, but she quickly learned that Ruby was all aggression at this point- launching at her once again letting Logan duck under her arm and grab her shoulders, sliding the woman over her back to pin her again; hoping for an easy win but she kicked out.
Logan grabbed hold of Ruby to push her towards the turnbuckle but she reversed and sent her into the turnbuckle. Logan lifted herself to the outside of the ropes and hit her with a boot to the side of the face.
She entered the ring again as Ruby fell against the ropes and slid out of the ring, which made her raise her hands in question. She looked out at the crowd as they cheered her on, and she ran backwards to bounce off the ropes, jumping to hit Ruby with the Tope Con Hilo.
The audience was quick to notice the move from Finn's own move set, which only made the cheers even louder as she landed it perfectly and shot back up afterwards due to the rush of adrenaline she felt when she landed. Logan yelled out as she grabbed hold of Ruby's black locks, forcing her towards the ring to roll her in and pin her but to Logan's surprise- she had just gotten her shoulder up before the count of three.
Logan slamed her hands down on the matt with fustration as her head shot to the side towards the referee. He put his fingers up, "That was a two, Perris!"
Logan shook her head, "NO, THAT WAS A THREE." she yelled out in frustration as her hands clawed through her hair when the Referee told her again firmly that Ruby had gotten her shoulder up.
"WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS IS, THAT WAS OBVIOUSLY A THREE! DO YOUR DAMN JOB RIGHT." Logan yelled out and was about to spit out something else when she felt Ruby grab her forearm and spin her around, delivering a quick DDT.
Logan got her shoulder up at the count of one and a half, and when Ruby got off her- she rolled towards the corner which probably wasn't the best idea as Ruby then rained quick boots at her mid-section.
She was forced out of the corner by the referee and Logan rolled onto her side as Ruby sat down on her knees in front of her, pointing up at the brief case that was hanging above them. "Is that what you want, huh?" she taunted while looking over at Logan who was slowly getting onto her knees in front of her.
Ruby grabbed her chin tightly and pushed her face away, and then did it again. "Don't ever touch me!" Logan screamed out as Ruby tried to do it for a third time but Logan hit her back which only ended up with her face smashed into the matt from Ruby.
She tried to get another pin, but Logan got her shoulder up at a two. Ruby screamed out in frustration behind her. The next five minutes of the match was the two women going back and forth, constantly countering each other until Logan got her head slammed into the turnbuckle- which sent her flying towards the ropes, slamming her neck off the top, which allowed Ruby to ricochet off the top rope and deliver a DDT.
Another pin but Logan kicked out again at the count of two, only to get a kick to the face which sent her back down again. Ruby rolled her back up in a pin, getting closer to the three count but Logan kicked out again.
Logan was forced back up as Ruby grabbed a fistful of her black hair, clearly letting out her frustrations on her scalp. Logan countered and slapped her across the face which allowed her enough room to gain some speed and duck under her arm when Ruby launched. Wrapping her arm around Ruby's, she maneuvered her body around the woman, tucking her legs around her neck while she grabbed her arm and put her shoulder in-front- successfully applying Poisoned Thorns.
She heard Ruby scream out when Logan tugged her arm back, cranking her shoulder backwards where it shouldn't be extended as Logan let out a cry. Suddenly, she left a slap to her thigh.
"Here is your winner by Submission; Logan Perris."
Logan released Ruby from the hold as a smile slipped onto her lips while the beat of her song blasted through the arena. She lost her balance but grabbed onto the top rope for support as she watched Ruby retreat with the rest of the Riott Squad- all looking back at her with glares in their eyes.
She then looked up in the air where the white briefcase hung by a silver chain, the contract inside for the championship she never lost- and held the dream that she would get her championship back.
She grinned widely as her hand raised in the air to point at the brief case with her name on it, looking over towards Ruby as she shook her head. "You never stood a chance." she yelled over her music even though she knew they wouldn't be able to hear her.
She was one step closer to re-gaining what she had lost.
