CHAPTER ONE - COUP DE GRACE

▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁

THINGS IN ORLANDO didn't go as well as Logan thought it would've been. The past eight months had left her mentally exhausted with taking physical therapy five times a week and some of those days were harder than others- extremely harder.

If it wasn't for Dean and Seth keeping her mind leveled, she probably would've quit the idea of returning to a wrestling ring, but that was a month ago now.

Behind the Latina, the huge clock that hung upon the wall was ticking as silence engulfed the room as she returned home- her hair still up in her ponytail from her training three hours ago. Grocery shopping has come a frequent thing, now that she had Dean living with her while he was recovering from his own injury. She didn't mind his presence in her own home- in all honesty- he was already apart of her family.

Logan put the plastic bags up onto the marble island counter and proceeded towards the chair that overlooked the huge window in the back of her apartment. She peeked blankly out of the window while she watched a black vehicle park into the parking slot next to hers. Her hand reached out to grab hold of her grey colored curtains and pushed them farther apart to let the light in- letting some cool summer air into the living space.

She breathed hard and bit down on the inside of her cheek while looking out the window. The air was growing more cooler now with the summer beginning in a month, but she noticed that in the mornings it would be scorching outside.

Suddenly the front door opened noisily, and it made her turn around promptly. Dean walked in the door, slipping his boots off in the small mud room before proceeding further into her apartment.

"How was your appointment?" Logan questioned him while she fully turned around to face him while her arms crossed over her stomach.

Dean went straight for the kitchen, opening up their fridge to look inside and grabbed the carton of milk- not bothering to get a glass and chugged it down like it was the last drink he would have. Logan's eyebrows rose on her forehead, "what are you, five? Get a damn glass, you pig." she chuckled as she walked over and grabbed the carton from his hands.

Dean looked down at her with his own smirk on his face, "I was fucking thirsty, I'm sorry." he shrugged his shoulders. "The appointment was fine, I should be able to compete soon." he answered her while she lifted herself up on the counter and sat comfortably.

"I went to go see my mum yesterday," Logan sighed and scratched the back of her neck with nervousness about what she was going to tell Dean. She knew how much her mother meant to him since his parents weren't the loving type- her own parents became his. "she's not doing good, Dean." she added and Dean's expression had dropped slightly.

Logan remembered when she got settled back into Orlando, her mother was there to greet her, trailing along a machine with her. She has been terribly sick. Logan remembered when her mother was first sent to the hospital when she was throwing up blood- and she was across the world. If she regretted anything in her life, that would be one of them. She should've been there at the scariest time for her mother, but she couldn't dwell on the past now. She was here for her now, but she didn't prepare to get hit with the severity of her mother's condition.

Myelogenous Leukemia had taken her mother once again, and this time, she didn't know if her mother would survive this again. When she frequently visited the hospital, her mother would complain about the pain in her body and knowing that she couldn't do anything to take the pain away- made Logan feel helpless.

Dean let his head fall lower as his hands found themselves placed on top of the counter for support. "Do we know how much time she has left?" he asked her, and after awhile he wasn't sure if he even wanted to know the answer to that.

Logan's eyes were glossed over with tears as her and Dean looked into each-other's eyes, and Dean could see that whatever she was about to say next wouldn't be good.

"Three months at best." Logan replied, forcing to not choke on her words but the falling tears escaped her eyes before she even knew. "It might be sooner then that, the cancer is getting aggressive." Logan added. "She might not make it through the treatments, and if we decide to let her live the remainder of days at home.." she couldn't even finish her sentence before she was completely vulnerable. She choked on her own words as the sob came from her trembling lips and Dean was quick to come forwards and wrap his strong arms around her body.

"It's up to you, Lo." Dean told her while his hands were wrapped around her, drawing circles into her shoulders, paying more attention to her scarred one. His chin rested upon the top of her head as tears escaped his own blue eyes.

Logan sobbed and grasped at Dean's grey sweater, pulling him closer towards her as she cried. "I know but I can't give up on her, Dean.. she's so strong and I know that she can fight this." she pulled away from him to look up at his face to find him already staring at her, but there was a crease between his eyebrows.

Dean swallowed and nodded softly. "I know, but you're mom is tired-"

Logan was quick to put up her defensive wall as soon as the words left his mouth. "How can you say that!" she snapped while pushing him rather harshly away from her. Her eyes widened with horror that Dean would even consider letting her mom stay home and not get anymore treatments.

She would never give up on her when her mother never gave up on her when she was healing. When there was dark thoughts swirling inside her brain. How could he suggest that she should consider taking her mother home to watch her die on her couch? She couldn't do that and she wouldn't.

"I will not watch her die, Dean!"

Dean let his sweaty palm run down his face after weaving frustratingly in his blonde hair. He knew that Logan would react the way she was reacting to this- and he even told Estrella that after he talked to her alone. The truth was that Logan's mother was growing tired after every treatment and the effects that it left on her body would drain almost everything she had. She was ready and she admitted that to him due to the fact that Logan would never understand her mother's decision.

"You have to face the truth, Logan!" He raised his voice while she walked back behind the counter, her back was facing him now as she gripped the marble counter-tops with her fingers, knuckles going white. "She's tired and the treatments are killing her." he let out a tired sigh.

Logan shook her head and looked up at the ceiling when her eyes felt like they were drowning within her own tears, and the salty liquid fell from her eyes. "She didn't give up on me..."

"It's not about giving up, it's about accepting the fact that your mom is tired and has come to terms that she wants to die within the comforts of her family.. not-" Dean shook his head frantically as he tried to come up with the words to tell her. "she doesn't want the hospital to be the last thing she looks at."

The silence that fell over the two friends were nearly suffocating to be in, and Dean wanted to dart out of the room a couple times while he watched Logan's shoulders shake as she tried to choke back the tears that came from her eyes.

"Please leave.." her words were barely above a whisper but Dean could hear the pain within them. She was hurt and it was because of him but she had to understand that it wasn't about giving up at this point anymore.

 "Logan-"

She turned around and Dean's watery eyes met hers, stained with a pain that he had caused her but he should've known that this would be the outcome of this conversation- he had tried to warn Estrella but she wouldn't listen, and now he was the bad guy. "I said leave!" she barked back at him, cutting off his sentence and not caring about whatever words he had to say back to her.

She wanted him gone, gone from her presence and she didn't want to see him right now, at least not in this moment.

Dean stared back at her with a taken back look. It wasn't often that she would be so serious with him, and actually yell at him like she did here now. "I'll be back later." he told her and nodded, grabbing his bag from the floor.

Logan watched as he walked through the door and didn't look back at her. Once the door closed- she finally let herself go and the tears fell from her eyes like their own waterfall of pain and betrayal. Betrayal that he would ask her to watch her mom die- but pain because she knew he was right.

He was fucking right and she didn't want to believe that but she had seen her mother's condition deteriorate with every treatment this past month.

Deciding that she didn't want to sit on the floor and mope about something she couldn't control like a child. Logan picked her body off of the floor and started walking up towards her small room which was right next to Dean's closed door.

She didn't like to fight with Dean since he meant so much to her. When the time started to pass, she realized how stupid she reacted to what he said, she should understand and she knew that but he had to understand that this wasn't something to just.. figure out.

She fully didn't understand why her mother would go and look for comfort in Dean, to tell him these things when her daughter- her own flesh and blood- was here with her too. That doesn't mean that Dean wasn't family because he was, but this was something far more serious. She knew she was stubborn, but why would her mother not ask her, why would she talk to him and not her.

Sighing in frustration, Logan began to pack her suitcases for the upcoming road trip with Dean and Seth. She was officially coming back to Raw this upcoming Monday which she was excited for but also nervous to step back into the ring.

It felt foreign to her now that she's been out for eight months, even training had a sense of insecurity towards it and it frightened her that she would injure herself once again. Seth told her that this would fade with time especially after an injury, her body just needed time to get back into routine and unstiffen from months of not taking the bumps that athlete's in this business do.

She felt lucky to have these men in her life while she healed since Finn had walked out on her three months ago.

That was a name she hadn't thought of in awhile.

It still sounded strange in her mind and she still felt this bubble of happiness in her heart when she thought of him but the pain he left when he walked away from her was still there- fresh in her mind. Just on consistence- she took a black shirt from the next hanger and her breath got caught in her throat when she saw the logo on-top of it.

Logan scrunched the black material together in her palms and slowly lifted the material to her nose, feeling tears welling up in her eyes as it still faintly smelled like him- the cologne that she loved. She breathed out as she bit down on her bottom lip, putting the black shirt back on the hanger and reaching for the next one.

"I thought I would find you here," A voice called from behind her as he leaned up against the door frame of her room. She turned her head to look behind her and gave him a small weak smile. "I'm sorry for yelling at you."

Logan breathed out again as Dean started to walk in her room, but the noise coming from the living room had her opening her mouth. "Is Renee here?" She questioned as he shut the door behind him.

Dean nodded his head when he turned back around and lowered his voice. "Yeah, don't worry.. I haven't told her." He replied while pointing down at her luggage, telling her that he was talking about her return.

Logan nodded and turned her head back towards her closet, grabbing a few more jumpsuits to throw onto the bed to fold them up later. "Did she force you in here to apologize?" she asked with a hint of humor to her tone since she knew that Dean wouldn't willingly come back to say sorry- especially when he was the right one in this situation.

She heard the bed slightly squeak behind her as Dean sat down on the white bed cover, laying down while his legs dangled over the bed. "What? Of course not.."

Logan rolled her eyes, "Yeah, that's why your voice is getting higher." she briefly looked back at him to find him smiling to herself, and she rolled her eyes while her own smile slipped onto her face.

It was always like this with them. Dean would come back to apologize, not because it benefited him in any way but because Renee would probably kick his ass if he didn't. And Logan couldn't stay mad at him for very long.

"You know, when I got injured eight months ago.. you were the first one Seth called in the ambulance." Logan turned around with a bile of clothes hanging in her arms, walking towards the bed to put the clothing on the floor before she plopped onto the bed next to him. "You were the first name written on my emergency list.

Dean was slowly getting up to sit next to her, his blue eyes were boring back into her own but they were glossed over from crying earlier. "I care about you, and I don't ever ever want to lose you over some stupid fight."

"You could never lose me, Logan." Dean replied while a small grateful smirk came onto his lips. His shoulder bumped hers and she dramatically gasped out in pain.

When Dean's eyes widened in panic when Logan hid her face as she gripped onto her shoulder. "I'm so sorry, I didn't-"

Logan let out a fit of laughter when she rose her head, and looked him in the eyes. "You should've seen your face!"

Dean rolled his eyes, "I fucking hate you."

~

Logan was sitting on one of the stage boxes while she hid behind a closed and locked door. The way in here was a tale to tell everyone once people knew she was actually here. Men dressed in backstage gear who were really security helped her get back into a room without getting seen which was Vince McMahon's request.

He wanted her return to be a complete surprise, not just to everyone but the women in question who was still holding her Championship. She remembered the night when Sasha won the championship, it was the night where they made history without her- Elimination Chamber.

Something she couldn't be apart of because of what she done to her and now that she was back eight months later- she had promised that she would get her championship back.

Logan sat there playing with the rips in her white skinny jeans while sunglasses laid on top of her head. A knock on the door had her head snapping up, and her brows furrowing but then three in-sync knocks came after- telling her that Hunter was behind the door.

She quickly got off the stage box and rushed towards the door to open it for him, and he walked in with a bright smile on his face. He closed the door behind him and wrapped his arms around her shoulders. "It's so good to see you back here tonight, We've got Lindy coming in to prep you in twenty minutes for your scheduled promo."

Logan patted him on the back as Hunter pulled away from her, and she returned a smile once he stopped talking. "It feels good to be back home, Hunter. Thank you for letting me come back."

Hunter's smile left for a brief second before it was placed back on his aged face. "Hey, we're not going to leave you in the dirt. Your good for this company and the people love you." He reassured her and placed a strong hand on her shoulder, his eyes going down to look at the pink scar the surgery left behind.

"I trust you went over your script, and we will have someone to escort you to the gorilla." Hunter began to explain the fact that everyone will be in a different area tonight for the interviews- so she basically wouldn't been seen until she went out on stage. Hunter also informed her on the match cards tonight, and turned on the small television inside the room so she could watch.

Logan nodded throughout the entire thing and when he left the room, she sat down on the black leather couch and read through the match cards. She appreciated that Hunter took the time out of his busy schedule to visit her a few hours before her match since she knew they were in the midst of discussing Money In The Bank with the creative team- which she hoped she would be participating in the ladder match.

Twenty minutes later like Hunter told her, Lindy came through the door after knocking how Hunter told her too. She smiled when the Latina appeared on the other side and she walked in, dragging her makeup case behind her and towards the table. The pink haired girl turned around and hugged her, "Oh, it's so good to see you." she said when she pulled away, a smile on her red lips.

"It's good to see you too, Lindy. How have you been?"

Lindy started to lay out her cosmetics on the table, "I've been good.." her voice trailed slightly and Logan caught onto the way her voice went. It was obvious that she had something on her mind, but just didn't know if she should ask or not.

"If you want to ask something, go ahead Linds." Logan told her while her eyes narrowed towards her.

Lindy's eyes flickered towards the brunette. "I've heard about you and Finn.." she replied and bit down onto her bottom lip, "what happened?"

Logan's mouth opened slightly as her head snapped to the floor, her mouth making an 'oh' on the way down. "We fought.. and some nasty things were said under the influence of alcohol." she told her the short story, not ready to get into the full and actual story with someone other than Dean quite yet.

What she told Lindy wasn't a lie but she left some things out. Hurtful words were said on both parts- but most of it came from Finn's mouth. Dean had told her that what happened between them was not her fault and she wasn't sure if she believed that- she should've fought for him.

Lindy started working on applying the makeup to Logan's tanned complexion, "I'm sorry for asking."

Logan shook her head while looking up at her, "Don't be, some things aren't meant to be I suppose." she felt her own heart well up with what she said.

Lindy nodded again and they begun to discuss other things, like what was currently happening backstage since the makeup crew was usually the spot to get the latest gossip. A lot of things had happened since Logan had left- and she did feel left out because of it.

She wasn't apart of a lot of things that were history for the women in the division, and those things that they discussed pained her.

It wasn't long until Lindy started curling the last few pieces of her black hair, while Lindy was commenting on her new short hair which she felt like it fit her well. After Lindy finished with her waves and applied a load of hairspray, Logan showed her the new ring gear she was going to wear tonight- which had been made for her by the seamstress.

It was a bright pink with tons of gemstones crusted within the snake print fabric. The shorts were pretty tight and hugged her hips quite perfectly- this was going to make an impression tonight she was sure of it.

She wasn't feeling nervous at all about competing tonight but as soon as Lindy left the quite room she felt herself grow more nervous.

It had been eight months since she's been in a WWE ring, eight months since she had seen Sasha and been in the same ring with her which ended up tearing her shoulder apart.

Logan's stomach churned violently. She was going to be sick.

Logan breathed out while she stretched out her leg, moving from the center and resting her weight on her left. She felt her stomach twist as she looked down at the grey concrete flooring. 'I can do this', she told herself.

This wasn't any different than competing eight months ago. It was just a wrestling match, nothing different in this one than the last one she had.

 Except it was completely different.

She was returning after an injury. She was coming back to a  crowd of people who surly forgot about her; and did she mention that Finn was in the building somewhere?

That was enough to make her throw up.

It was only until three sync knocks interrupted her thoughts and sent her anxiety through the roof. She grabbed her neon pink jacket from the chair as the security walked in and gestured with his head to come out of the room.

It was only until she was walking through the empty backstage area that she realized everything was coming back to her. The thought of walking these halls scared her to death, but now they were like routine.

Logan started to pull her pink jacket over her shoulders as she neared the gorilla, the television monitor was placed against the wall and on the screen- was Sasha Banks holding her championship.

Seeing her with something that she didn't deserve had Logan's old confidence coming back. Being seen here tonight and going onto that stage- she was going to make sure that everyone knew she was back.

She was going to make everyone know that she was here for a reason, and she was going to make Sasha feel it too.

Things felt like it was going in slow motion in Logan's eyes as she stared up at the televison with anger- anger that she was telling people that the 'real' Queen of Monday Night Raw was here standing in that ring.

All of a sudden, the arena blacked out while fans started to scream, not in excitement but because they were just as shocked as Sasha was when the lights started to flicker and the faint music that everyone had missed started to blare.

Hunter smiled at her as she started to maneuver through the dark, looking for the faint light in the middle of the stage and turned her back towards the audience. The crowd around her started to scream as the lights began to illuminate her pink jacket and when the lights went on- there she stood in all of her glory.

Logan turned around after her arms went to the floor and she looked out in the waves of fans screaming on the top of their lungs. They were completely unaware at her arrival and so was Sasha as she stood there with her eyebrows furrowed, her eyes narrowing in a glare while her nostrils flared.

Instead of running into the ring, Logan proceeded towards the announce table and took off her pink hood after grabbing a microphone from the bell ringer. Her music was gone now, but the crowd was still cheering just as loudly before as she made her way into the ring with a sick smile on her face.

"Did I just hear you correctly?" Logan's voice went high as she laughed. "You're the real Queen of Monday Night Raw?" She let out a high-pitched chuckle and gestured with her hand. "That's cute."

"Let's be honest here, Sasha. You've never beaten me for that title and I never lost it either."

Sasha let out a chuckle of her own. "Are you still salty over something that happened eight months ago?" She replied and turned her head to look at her, leaning her forehead towards her. "Build a bridge and get over it. Bow down to the real Queen, The Legit Boss, Sasha Banks."

Logan looked out towards the crowd who were also cheering for her, but there were boos overpowering. She stuck her tongue in her cheek, "I told you when I came back, I was going to take back what is mine- and I will." She cut her words off short and threw the microphone towards her, sending a punch in her direction and then elbowing her towards the corner.

The cheers around the arena erupted as Logan dragged her out of the corner and close-lined her but before it could get any further- Security was out here in a matter of seconds and everyone backstage had gathered around the television screen to witness the two women.

Logan fought against the security that came down full force and slid into the ring, she screeched and clawed towards the magenta haired woman- knocking her in the jaw once or twice before each woman was standing against the opposite sides of the ring.

Logan held her hands up in defense and grabbed the microphone that was sitting against the corner. Her hard breathing was heard around the arena. "I'm back, bitch!" she threw the microphone towards Sasha after she shut it off, rolling out of the ring while security followed behind her.

She could hear the screaming coming from the ring, and Sasha was fighting against the security as the Queen was standing on the stage, smiling down at her with a sick grin on her face.

Once she made it back behind the curtain, Hunter greeted her immediately and hugged her. He whispered praises into her hair as he pulled away and she smiled back. She could see the small group of people that gathered- her friends.

But there was only a pair of blue eyes that caught her attention, and he stared at her intensely as his own breath got caught in his throat when she turned and her brown eyes caught onto his.

Her own mouth opened while the world around her was blocked out. She blinked back a couple times while her brown eyes began to gloss over.

 "Finn?"
