She had been shook to the core by that call.

Nothing could have prepared her for it.

She wanted more than anything to believe, that it was simply a prank call. It was around Halloween time and anything could happen, but even she couldn't deny how real it felt.

At that moment she wasn't Kate any more, but -

'Amileen. Amileen. You know, I like little Amy more. My little Amy.'

She shuddered slightly, shaking her head to get rid of that voice that lingered in her head.

'I am Kate and he is not here. He'll never return. You are safe now.' She said to herself.

The opening of her bedroom door, interrupted her thinking.

Nick's head peeked in the room and his eyes immediately met her frame.

She bit her lip nervously as she watched him enter her room. Her stomach grumbled when she saw the tray full of food, in his hands.

" Please stay a little longer ." These were her first words to him, making him frown.

He placed the tray on the bedside table before taking a seat on the bed.

He took her hands. " Ofcourse." His thumbs gently caressed her skin. " I wouldn't dare leave my girl alone, especially now."

She sighed in relief.

" Can you tell me what's going on?"

She let out a sigh. " I - I just - I would like more time with you, if that's okay?"

" Kate, babe, It's more than okay. We can watch movies and order snacks for later, after the pizza."

" I would like that very much." She smiled, loving the suggestion.

" Okay, good." He kissed her knuckles. " Have a little something, you didn't get to eat lunch yet." He said, gesturing to the food waiting for her.

She nodded.

Her face warmed up when he snuck a peck on her cheeks before placing the tray on her lap.

Nick watched her silently, trying to push back the image of her laying unconscious in his arms. He hadn't gotten over what had happened earlier, but was so relieved when she finally woke up.

He hated to think that a stupid prank call had gotten her so frightened.

He didn't want her to go through that again.

" I'm sorry for scaring you guys earlier." She said, pulling him out of his thoughts.

He realised that he'd been in his head for a while, which got her attention. The roles had been changed and now he was the one being watched.

He shook his head. " I hate that you were targeted for a stupid prank call."

" I think I overreacted." She said, feeling bad.

" No, some sick bastard decided to play a wicked game against one of the sweetest people. That was not right. "

' It really wasn't right.' She mentally agreed, looking down at her lap.

She had lost her appetite a while ago, hence why she placed the half finished food aside, on the bedside table again.

She couldn't deny that she was still shaken up a bit. That triggered some painful memories, which made her feel bad.

She didn't need to go through another heavy emotional journey.

" I was really worried." She heard him say.

" I'm sorry." He shook his head when she said this, not wanting her to blame herself.

This was not her fault but that call.

He let out a sigh before moving closer. She took advantage of that, snuggling into his warmth.

They sat in silence for a few minutes, both enjoying each other's presence.

" Knowing what I know now, I can't help but worry about you more."

Looking up at him, she saw the hurt and sadness in his eyes.

" Nick -"

" You know, I didn't share all that to make you worry like you are doing now."

When he didn't say anything, she frowned.

" Nick - "

" I can't help it." He admitted.

" Please don't do this. It makes me feel like I'm still trapped there and that I'm a victim to my past again." She removed her arms from around him, now sitting up and facing the wall.

She shut her eyes for a minute, pushing back any threatening tears. She felt tense because of the heavy silence that filled the room.

Nick held back from speaking for a minute, thinking better than to simply speak. He thought heavily on how to voice out his thoughts.

His cellphone suddenly rang, breaking the silence in the room but he ignored it.

" It could be important." Kate voiced out, now looking at him from over her shoulder.

" You are most important right now." Despite what had happened minutes ago, her heart warmed in response to his words.

He sighed. " I'm sorry."

She understand that his apology was a response to her earlier words.

" I didn't mean to make you feel that way."

She felt bad for making him feel hurt like this.

" I shouldn't have ---"

" No, you did good baby." He was quick to correct her.

She completely faced him now.

" I love to hear your thoughts and to know how you feel. Your honesty is dear to me."

" And yours is important to me too." She responded.

A barely there smile appeared on his face.

" I worry a whole lot, but that's because I care about you. But I also know that I need to calm down a bit and ---"

" Thank you."

He frowned in confusion and curiosity.

" Thank you for caring."

He looked into her eyes for a few seconds before he said, " come here."

He opened his arms and she closed the distance, letting him wrap her in his warmth. " I love you, remember that, okay?" She nodded and he kissed the crown of her head.

" Can I tell you something?" He asked.

" Hmm." She gave her nod again.

" You are so strong and I am proud of how far you have come." He gave her a small squeeze, which made her smile against him.

" Can I also tell you something?" She asked.

" Hmm?"

" I am thankful to have met you. "

He chuckled low.

" I feel the same."

A moment of silence passes before she broke it.

" What happened today -"

" Shouldn't have happened. Whoever that bastard was, will get what's coming to them."

" Can't wait for the day to finally be over," Nick said, the minute he sat down.

" Hmm." That was the only response that came from Kate, who was invested in the book she was reading.

She looked calm and her cute frown on her face, told him that she was enjoying her read.

Not being able to resist, he kissed her cheek.

She looked away from the book and met his eyes.

He smiled at her and she smiled back.

" Missing a week of school sounds like a good idea right now." Danny said.

He was seated next to Anna.

" Hmm." Nick nodded in agreement.

"Okay, I think I've found a good apartment for us, check this out." Anna said to Kate, holding out her cellphone for her to see the pictures she'd found online.

Anna's excited tone made Kate perk up a bit. Whatever her friend had found must have been impressive.

Kate felt impressed too as she scrolled through the website. It was a two bedroom apartment with a nice kitchen and living room space, along with a balcony that had a nice view.

" This is so nice." Kate said impressed.

" Right?" Anna's excitement increased when she noticed how interested Kate seemed now.

" Hmm, so How far is it?"

" Oh, this is the exciting part. It's right next to the college, we can even walk to school and......"

" Oh,"the mood immedaitely changed when Kate heard this. She glanced at Nick and knew what all this could possibly mean.

Anna took notice and that's why she asked, "Is there something wrong?"

" N-no not really, I just..." She let out a breath before she tried again, " well I thought we could look elsewhere." Anna frowned a little as she listened. " Maybe a bit further where the four of us could possibly stay."

Anna and Danny passed a glance at each other before they simultaneously said, ' no."

The protest was so clear that Kate winced a bit. She could tell that this idea didn't sit well with the both of them and it would take a lot of convincing, to get them to be open minded.

" First of all, this shouldn't have even been an option."Anna said.

" First time I agree with that." Danny nodded.

" He snores," Anna pointed out.

" I snore too.' Kate reminded Anna, finding amusement in this now.

" Yeah but your snore is cute, it doesn't sound like a vacuum cleaner in the middle of the night." Anna explained.

" Hey!" Danny protested.

" Anyway, not only does he snore, but his socks stink and he is lazy."

" Well no offence but Anna is loud, takes up a lot of space with her stuff and did I mention that she makes weird food, all those greens," Danny shuddered, the image not leaving a good impression on him.

Anna rolled her eyes at Danny.

" Oh come on guys, it can't be that bad."

Both scoffed out loud.

" One of the reasons my suggestion was the best is because I wont have to see his face as often anymore." Anna said, which Dany took offense to.

" Well, it's not like I enjoy seeing yours." Once he responded, an argument between the two began.

Kate looked at Nick, who was watching everything unfold infront of him in amusement. " A little help here," Nick simply shrugged which made Kate to pinch one of his sides.

Kate silently pleaded with Nick but all he did was shrug, causing her to pinch him on his side.

" Ouch!" He leaned away from her before she could attempt doing it again.
" Last time I checked, you were part of this."

" Hmm,' he nodded, smiling in amusement at her.

" Nick!" She whined a little making his smile to grow bigger.

She looked cute with a small frown visible on her features.

Instead of an immediate response, he leaned in to kiss her cheek before he whispered in her ear. " You look so cute right now." She wanted to roll her eyes so bad but her face warmed up in a blush, so she looked away.

" You're not helping one bit." She mumbled to herself.

" Okay guys," Nick clapped his hands once, earning everyone's attention. " Look, I know this suggestion is not the most ideal, but we need to start laying all options on the table, you know that Kate and I are -----"

" Yeah, yeah, yeah lovebirds and all, I hear you. I'll keep this suggestion in mind, though I'm not promising anything." Anna said.

Danny's silence made them to look at him.

He sighed. " I'll think about it." He finally agreed.

While they were still arguing about this, Stacey and Clara joined the group.

" okay people , you can just forget about whatever you were talking about now cause I've got news" she said and everyone looked at her.

" what, you got a new dog ?" Danny mocked.

" no" she shot him a dirty look.

" I got an invitation to paradise Island for a weekend getaway" she said excitedly as she showed them the invitation. Anna grabbed it from her and opened it.

" hey!"

" Who did you get this from?" Anna asked while she searched in her bag.

" I got it from the mail this morning,and don't worry , Rachel is responsible for this....well since she's coming back, she thought she'd create an extravagant come back with a time spent at the island" she said excitedly .

" umm I got the same invitation " Anna said.

" what?" Before Anna could say anything further ,everyone took out their own invitation and they stared at each other .

" wow, so she invited us all and I wonder......" Danny said.

" well she didn't tell me about this, not that she has been in contact lately " she mumbled the last part.

" what do you mean?" Anna asked.

" well for weeks , I've been trying to get a hold of her and she has not been available and now I've received this invitation. "

" that's weird , did you speak to her mom?" Nick asked.

" she's out of town" Danny slammed his hand on the table which surprised people.

" well I'm interested" he said.

" me too, babe?" Nick looked at a distracted Kate.

" umm......" Before she could say anything, the bell sounded and they all parted, making it a point to think about it.

The next morning while Nick waited for Kate's morning coffee and two chocolate muffins since she didn't have time for breakfast, he lost himself in thought as he looked at his fiance who was just too adorable .

It took a while for Kate to notice Nick, who had been busy texting Julia. She finally looked up at Nick and she blushed at the sight of him lost in thought but staring at her.

" lost in thought again?" She asked as a big grin was displayed on her face.

Nick just smiled and slowly shook his head as if trying to erase the thought he had just had.

" kinda......anyway I have something to tell you but tell me your opinion okay," she nodded.

" I think we should go to Paradise Island, I mean Stacey checked it out and according to her, its good."

" mmm"

" yep, like this would be the perfect opportunity for us to share our big news to our friends"

They received their order and then they drove off.

" I'm a bit curious of why Rachel would invite me" she said before taking a bite from her muffin.

" well you were like close before she left" he said.

" paradise island ?" She seemed so unsure.

" yeah well we could leave on Friday" he carried on .

" on the weekend of Halloween?"

" yeah and we could take a pass on the party , if we leave early we can miss traffic"
Kate just looked at him for a bit before she said." It sound nice but what about Stacey?"

" what about her?"

" you know that she hates me right?"

" she doesn't hate you babe, you two are different and she's not used to being around unique people"

All Kate did was drink her tea and then took a breath before saying" you mean someone who was called a freak most of her life just because she was not as socialabe or the fact that she 'stole' the guy she knew should be her boyfriend according to her and her fans"

Nick parked at his usual place and after turning off the ignition, he rested his head and closed his eyes as if trying to think of something. He then looked at her.

" first of all, you are not a freak and secondly, I was never hers from the beginning and she knows that we are friends"

" but she wants you though"

" I think she has moved on from that, now can we just retrace back to the point that I'm in love with you and that you are my fiance, plus you haven't given me your answer."

Before she could say anything , someone tapped on Kate's side of the window, which was Anna who looked rather happy for someone reason, Kate pulled down her window and forced a smile.

" morning, " she sing singed.

" oh morning, so I'm guessing you're happy to see me" Kate said.

" yes and there's more" she responded.

" so out with it" Kate pressed .

Anna moved her eyes from Nick to Kate , indicating that this was a private matter, before Kate could get out of the car, she felt a hand on her wrist.

" we'll discuss this later?" He asked with a hopeful look which made her all soft inside.

She nodded and them got out of the car before he had a chance to say more, Kate noticed his face fall a bit while he paged through his phone.

" shall we go?" Anna asked Kate quietly when she sensed some tension in the air.

" not yet" she whispered back .

Kate went around to Nick's side, leaning in and pecking his cheek which made him look at her and smile.

" I love you" she said.

" I love you" he responded.

Kate then went on with Anna but when Kate looked over her shoulder, she noticed Stacey with her friends standing next to his car while Danny took Kate's place .

" skank" Anna said in an annoyed time added with a dirty look.

Kate chuckled as they carried on their way, Anna had filled Kate in on a new guy she had met online which she found really cute, he had suggested on dinner and she agreed and judging from her excitement, Kate believed Anna her excitement.

One of Kate's lessons was a free period and she Knew that she could just chill and not do much, Mrs Clark at a had to attend to some emergency and well most of her classmates decided to roam around the school, risking being caught. As she busied her self with a good read, her favourite scent filled the seat next to her and her heart heated fast as certain lips kissed her neck ,causing her to lose interest on the page she was on.

" I need to know who she'll end up with" she whispered.

" soldier, definetly him" he murmured against her neck.

" and how do you know that?"

He moved away from her neck and grinned before saying" I just know, besides she only ever thinks about him "

" cheater"

" hey I couldn't wait to know who it might have been and right now all I'm interested in, is the beautiful lady in front of me"

" trying to soften me up?" He asked hopefully.

She sighed.

" okay I'll join you guys even though I'm not crazy about the idea"

" you know what, we can stay behind, no pressure" he frowned at her.

" no, no, I'm fine with it" he leaned forward and asked if she was sure in which she did before he kissed her for awhile until someone cleared their throat.

" PDAs , please no...." Danny said.

" jealousy won't get you no where" Nick said.

Kate his hid her face in his neck to hide her flush while Nick chuckled.

" whatever , ready to pick her up?" Danny asked Kate who moved away from Nick to look at Danny.

" umm" she was interrupted by the bell.

" I guess I am" she stated before packing up, Nick helped her even when she rose to her feet, after they were done, the trio exited the classroom and entered into the hall, passing people and making room for Kate to walk.
