" Can't wait for the party," Stacey said, breaking the silence that had taken over at the table.

" Yeah and knowing that it will be held in one of the creepiest mansions around, that's sick." Danny added, sounding too amazed. " I wonder how they got it."

He pulled the pizza box towards himself before opening it and grabing a piece.

"Obviously they paid a lot of money for it." Nick responded, not tearing his eyes away from his phone. He'd been waiting for Kate to arrive.

" Well, they outdid themselves this time. I mean the history of that house and its people is creepy but hauntingly sad. It's quite interesting how it evolved into one of the town's Halloween legendary stories." Stacey said in excitement.

"Halloween legendary story, who?" Said a new voice, one belonging to Anna, who approached the table with Kate.

Stacey rolled her eyes and had a sip of her soda while Anna and Kate got settled. Anna couldn't help but steal a glance around the table, feeling a little surprised that today was one of the few times that both Stacey and Clara chose to sit with them. Their time was mostly spent with a few members of the cheer team.

Anna and Kate both took the remaining empty seats, with Anna settling next to Clara while Kate sat next to Nick, who pulled her close, leaving his arm to rest behind her.

Clara filled Anna in on what Stacey was just talking about, not wanting her to be left behind.

" Legend has it that the youngest son of the family of 5 murdered everyone. He first totured each one before they met their maker." Stacey continued as if she had not been interrupted.

" He was a lunatic!" Clara said, shaking her head.

"Yeah, one that used to lock himself up in his room, he never smiled and he never spoke," Stacey continued to say.

"Isn't that a little far fetched?" Anna asked, frowning a little.

In her mind, the girls were getting a little too carried away with this whole story.

" No!" Both girls said.

" Witnesses said the same thing, he was like a brick wall. He seemed to enjoy anything violent related, especially towards his siblings. Someone would return hurt anytime they played in the forest and Halloween time was surely his favourite, especiallysince it's the Night Hawkers night."

"Who?" Everyone asked.

"The guy, the boy." Stacey sighed dramatically, " Has anyone been listening to anything I've said?"

Everyone smiled in amusement, watching her get annoyed by the lack of attention they were giving her story.

" Babe?" Nick called Kate softly, earning her attention. " I'll go get us something real quick, would you like anything specific?"

Kate shook her head. " Whatever you get is fine." She said with a small smile, making Nick smile too.

"Okay." He said, kissing her forehead before leaving the table.

Everyone else left the table for a short while, leaving Danny and Kate to be the only ones left.

" I never got a chance to congratulate you on your anniversary," Danny said to Kate.

"Oh, its no biggie," Kate waved it off. " Anyway, how is it going with your college hunt?"

"A bit challenging but I can only hope that everything turns out good."He shrugged.

"You'll find something soon." She said with a small smile.

His own appeared on his face.

" Honestly I'm a little dissapointed in myself for starting late."

" Alot demanded for your attention, but nothing is ever too late. You're already in the middle of the hunt and soon, you will sigh a breath of relief once it's over."

" It's nice to hear someone sound so confident about me." He mumbledto himself and Kate heard it.

" You know Danny, I think you need to stop being too hard on yourself."

Danny looked away, knowing well what Kate meant.

" Danny?" She earned his eyes again.

" I know that everything will work out for you." she said encouragingly.

" Thank you." He said with an appreciative smile, resting his hand on hers.

Kate shifted on her place slightly, feling a little uncomfortable about this action, being mindful about how close Nick was. Danny and Nick were close and the fact Danny used to have a crush on her summed up why this situation was a little uncomfortable for her. She didn't want anything to be misread or a misunderstanding to happen between the two guys.

She pulled her hand away and glanced away up, in time to see Nick return with two large pizzas and drinks.

" Okay, I don't have much to do today, so I guess I'll be staying a little longer by your place." Nick said to Kate.

" Well I like the sound of that."

" Yeah?" He raised his brow.

Kate nodded.

Nick leaned closer with intention to steal a kiss but everyone returned, blocking his chance. He kissed her cheek instead.

As soon as Stacey took a seat, she recieved a call from home that demanded that she head there, so she did, bidding the rest of the gang bye.

Conversation flowed again at the table.

" You know I can't believe that----"

Kate got interrupted by the sound of her cellphone ringing.

She found herself hesitating to answer when the caller ID showed an unknown number.

"Hello," her voice sounded softer than intended when she finally answered.

No answer.

"Hello, " she tried again, her voice sounding much clearer now.

She frowned when the sound of breathing came from the other end of the line.

" Can I -"

" Please help me !" She was cut off by someone, a female who sounded desperate.

Kate's breath hitched, her eyes widening.

"Who's this?" She asked, sounding nervous.

Nick turned to her face her, a curious expression appearing on his face.

" He won't stop!" Kate's heart rate picked up when she heard those words.

" Who is this?" Chatter ceased and attention was now on Kate, who couldn't hide her expression.

" Only you can help me and the others!"

Words caught in Kate's throat, blood drained from her face as she rose to her feet.

" Just return to him and all this will stop! Please."

" W-who is he?" Kate stuttered, her suspicion on who this 'he' might be, growing by the second.

" Kate?" Nick called her, now rising to his own feet.

There was something wron, he could feel it.

She could see his frown deepen as he watched her.

" He says that only you know him, he says that he's been watching, he never stopped watching. Please, just do what he wants so we can't be in harms way anymore."

The scream that the girl leet out right after, made Kate tremble on her spot.

" Please don't hurt me!!" Those were the last words she heard before Nick snatched the phone away from her.

He put the call on loud speaker for the whole table to hear. " Please! Aaaah!" The whole table gasped when they heard the scream, before the sound of slicing came right after.

" Who the hell is this?!" Danny demanded over the phone.

A weaping was heard on the other end, before a female voice said, " the night of all nights will come, he'll once again be with his beloved and no one will in his way......Amy , Amy."

"Hey you sick bastard, whoever you are, this is not funny okay. This is actually sick, disgusting. Don't call here again, leave my girl alone or else I will kill you if you mess with her again, do you hear me?!!!" Nick was fuming, feeling utterly disgusted by what they were dealing with right now.

There was a few seconds of tense silence that passed before a deep, husky voice came on the line. " Good luck."

The line went dead and now everyone stood, frozen on the spot.

They couldn't comprehend what had happened.

" N-Nick?" Kate's soft, scared voice broke the silence.

Her mind felt blank and all that rang in her ears was the sound of the screams.

" Kate, hey, hey, look at me." Nick gently turned her to face him and right when he was about to say something, her eyes rolled at the back of her eyes and she fell in his arms.
