Chapter 13.
His eyes teared up as he looked at Kate's picture.
' Breathtaking, no one is worthy to even look at you.'
His heart sank at the thought of them being intimate, in his heart, he strongly believed that Nick didn't deserve to lay a hand on her. His filthy hands should have been nowhere near her, she was just too pure in his eyes.
'Didn't he know that Kate belonged to him and him alone?'
He grew more anxious, feeling that great need to finally take her away to a place where no one would find her.
No one should matter in her life apart from him. He knew and understood her best.
He paced up and down in his dungeon, his thoughts flooded with none other than her. His heart had only room for her. His world revolved around her and he felt an unhealthy obession towards her.
Acknowedging this didn't make him feel bad, instead, it encouraged him to look forward to the day that she would be in his arms. Once that happened, he would not let her go and anyone who dared to even think about trying to snatch her her away, would not live to see another day. Kate was not just any girl he could pick up on the streets, no, she was special, she was the reason that he carried on living, the one who made his heart race and his redemption for all the sins he had committed.
He wanted her heart to belong to him.
Finally exiting the dark room and heading over to the next room, a lightness like no other overtook him. This one was very special to him, it was the one room he was eager to visit more than the others. In there, he felt much closer to her, it was like Kate was already present in that room.
"Ha..." He let out a sigh the minute he took a seat, absorbing the atmosphere in the brightly lit room.
He smiled to himself as a memory came to mind.
She had talked to him and he loved her voice.
It bothered him somewhat when he had gotten tongue tied at that moment. Why couldn't he talk to her when she had answered to him?
He felt like a cowered then and the way he trembled when she would smile and talk to him. Oh how he wished she could see the real him, the guy who ever loved and worshipped the ground she walked on. There were so much for distractions, like Nick, her family and friends, he felt that all that stood in the way of his happiness with Kate.
The room had been filled with pictures of all around the walls of the room, some of her belongings which she had thought that she had misplaced were with him. Little treats he had wished to give to her but couldn't and some videos of her over the years that he had watched her.
All those things and more mattered to him but now he needed something more and that was Kate in the flesh, he needed for her scent to fill the room and make his worries and everything negative to go away. Soon he would have her and would never let her go.
...........
They entered and parked at the school parking lot but instead of Nick's usual spot, he parked somewhere else and Kate raised her brow at that. Kate inserted her ring in one of her chain, once she was done she noticed Nick looking at her. They entered the school premesis and instead of the usual spot where he parked, Nick chose a different one. Kate raised her brow at that.
" Just need a moment with you." Her heart melted when Nick said this.
She could understand where he was coming from. With Nick being quite popular and liked, he grabbed attention most of the time. Usually they didn't see much of each other in the mornings because of the many interruptions, so they settled for during school and after school, to be around each other without company.
" Do you wish we could turn back time?" She asked.
"More than anything, I want to spend more time with you. You know, I realised that we spent too little time together and that didn't sit well with me. " He let out a sigh before he continued to say, " it's my fault."
" I disagree."
" I don't know, I feel like I haven't given us more time. I feel like I've been neglecting us and that is wrong."
" You have been here for me and us more than you think." She tried to reassure him, seeing the concerned look on his face.
He let out a sigh, not feeling completely convinced.
" Remember that we were not okay for awhile, maybe that's why you may feel this way."
"I don't like where we were, we are good now and I like this more."
" Me too." She agreed. " We are just busy, that's all."
" Unfortunately." He mumbled.
" You know, we are spending time together right now." Kate reminded him, a small smile lifting on her face.
The realisation brought out a soft expression from Nick. " Yeah, we are."
" You are good for me Nick, never think otherwise, please." She pleaded softly.
He nodded. " And I feel the same with you," he leaned forward, closing the distance and capturing her lips with his.
The kiss was gentle and slow, it made her heart to flutter.
" I still want to spend as much time as I can with you. This anniversary made me crave more of your presence."
Her face warmed when he said this. The fact that he loved being around her this much, made her view herself as valuable.
" I think you're falling inlove with me." She teased.
" I know I am." He said with a smile, leaning back but never tearing his eyes away from her.
Glancing at the time, Kate realised that school would start soon and with this, she took her ring and placed in in her chain. "I think it would be best if we keep it private for a while," she suggested.
" Yeah, lets take all this in. You know once word gets out, things will turn a little crazy," Nick agreed.
"And I love that this is about us and no one else, gosh, I still can't believe it." She said, glancing at her ring.
"Believe it baby, because this is us now. " She liked the sound of that.
The bell rang and Nick groaned, already dreading school.
" Reality has kicked in once again." She said with a sigh.
He watched as she grabbed her bag from the backseat before she turned to him again. " I'll see you later?" She asked, wanting confirmation about later.
He nodded.
She pecked his cheek before leaving the car.
" I love you!" He called out, earning a few glances from a few students who were passing by.
She glanced over her shoulder and blew a kiss for him before she continued with her way.
Later that day, an email popped up for Kate which made her frown.
It was an invitation from the Adams twins who were hosting a Halloween party.
She read out loud for everyone to hear.
"Feeling brave enough for the nights thriller?
Have you got what it takes to face your greatest fears?
Well come on by to this years Halloween party and let's get down to the rhythm of terror.
And get ready to be Spookified.
You know how we do it."
"Sounds like fun." Nick commented.
"Hmm," that was the only response they heard from Kate, making Anna and Nick to pass glances between each other.
" I agree with Nick. I mean, it's the Adams, you know how cool their parties are."
Nick nodded.
" I heard that this year is going to be quite epic, and it'll be the perfect time for all of our friends to let loose and enjoy our time together, right?" Anna said, directing the last part to Kate.
" I think it'll be fun." Nick added.
As much as all they said sounded intriguing, for Kate had mixed feelings about all this. A part of her liked making more memories with her friends but another part of her keen to go.
Relief washed over her when the bell rang and she was saved from this topic.
"I should go." Kate muttered, kissing Nick before she walked away.
Anna caught up with her before she could get far. "Okay why do I get the feeling that you aren't crazy about the party," she said.
"Anna, I'm not the biggest fan of all things scary."
"I know but it'll be a great party and it won't do you any harm in going, right?" Anna said as she gave of her puppy dog eyes to try smooth talk Kate into agreeing.
Kate sighed when Anna would not stop giving her that look.
"Okay, okay, no need for all that. I guess we can start with costume shopping," she groaned, not believing that she actaully was considering this.
Anna squealed in excitement before giving Kate a tight hug.
" Thank you, thank you."
" Yeah, yeah." Kate waved her off, playfully rolling her eyes.
" We have a lot of planning to do," when Kate heard this, she groaned yet again, already regretting her decision.
" Hey, you look a little different. You're glowing." Anna commented, observing Kate.
" I had an amazing time with my boyfriend." Kate shrugged, not being able to hide the smile that came out.
Anna awwed at her, loving the smile her friend had on her face.
It had been a while since she'd seen her friend like this and she loved seeing her friend so happy.
" Okay, we should hurry up before we get in trouble." Kate said.
The two hurried to class, not wanting to get into trouble.
'It's okay if you aren't feeling this one. I wouldn't want you to agree to something that made you uncomfortable. We can make other plans and spend that night together. I love you.' A message from Nick popped up in Kate's phone.
She let out a sigh, glancing outside the window as she drowned out the teacher's voice.
Halloween parties were epic in their little town especially ones held by the Adams twins.
This time, the party would be held at an abandoned abandoned mansion . This got people talking and excited.
Kate couldn't get over the uneasy feeling she had. It was not only about Halloween but that Halloween always had surprises which would be unpleasant, and in Kate's sense, those events surely had a lot going on for her liking.
She hoped she would be proven wrong this time.
