Chapter 12 - Rejoining the Family

THIRD POV

2009, Crime alley

Batman: "Pf...- Hahahaha."

After laughing, Batman slowly approuches the little boy, who is slowly taking steps back with fear.

As Batman stands infront of him, talling him in hight, he raises his hand towards him. Little boy thinking his going to hit him closes his eyes, but hit never came, but he felt a hand on his shoulder. Little boy opens his eyes and now stares at the Dark Kingt who is now kneelling, so they are now on same eye hight.

Batman: "I'm only going to ask you this once. So give some serious thought to your answer..."

???: "W-what?... "

Little boy asks shakingly. Then Batman makes the biggest smirk he ever has.

Batman: "... Are you hungry?"

Little boy hesitantly nods.

Batman: "Can I know your name?"

???: "Y-Y/N..."

Batman: "Then Y/N, help me get wheels back."

[TIMESKIP]

Batman: "Slow down, Y/N. You're going to lose a finger."

Batman warned little boy now known as Y/N as they were eating hambugers on the Batmobile, over looking Gotham from the little mountain near city.

Y/N: "Sorry. (mrch mch) This is the closest thing to a home-cooked meal I've had since...I had a home."

He says sadly, but returns his look on the city.

Y/N: "Funny. I was here once. Looking for Wayne Manor. Trying to case the place, but I got lost."

Batman: "Why do you think It's okay to steal things from people?"

Batman asked, curious about the boys determination he has.

Y/N: "You kidding me? Look at this view. Freaking" Billionare playboy" thinks he's king of the world. pfft."

Y/N said as he took another bite of his hamburger.

Batman: "Sometimes you just have to give people a chance, Y/N. They'll usually surprise you."

Batman said before taking the bite off his hamburger as Y/N thought to himself of Dark Kingt's words.

NOW
2 weeks later, Night

"It's Red Hood!"

"What's happening?"

"We're all gonna die!"

Civilians scream as in the mall, there's a gun fight between Red Hood and Two Face's gang.

2 man of Two Face's gang, wearing white masks, are shooting bullets at Red Hood who is running on the wall.

Then he jumps and throws a batarang at one of man, as it hits him and electrifies him, as he falls down. The second man continues to shoot, but he's then hit by a Rubber bullet in the head knocking him put on the ground.

Civilian who was near them then runs away as Red Hood takes cover as bullets are shoot at him.

Red Hood: "Hah! You're fresh out of guys, Freek-Face!"

Red Hood says aa He peaks from his cover and shoots bullets at Two Face who is hiding behind cover too.

Red Hood: "Your turn!"

He says as he hides back and releases empty magazines from his pistols.

Two Face: "Oh, Hood, are you making this personal? Or are you just getting your rocks off!?"

Two face declares as he moves out of his cover and starts shooting his M16's at Red Hood.

Red Hood just reloaded his pistols as ge then runs away in opposite way, as Two face follows his movement, shooting at him, as Red Hood shoots back.

Then Two Face drops one gun as He picks up a grenade. He withs his mouth removes the pin off the grenade and throws it towards Red Hood who just jumped down behind cover, as Two Face shoot his other gun at him.

The grenade bounces of big phone advert as it rolls down next to Red Hood who sees it and moves out of the way.

Grenade then expoldes as Red Hood roll jumped away, but big phone losses stability as it falls down towards Red Hood and hits him in the back off his head, knocking him out permently.

Red Hood hear's footsteps coming closer and closer as he slowly opens his eyes, as he's laying down on the floor, chrushed under the big phone.

As footsteps are coming closer, Red Hood manages to move the phone off him. He's sees his pistol infront of him. He goes to reach it, but a bullet is shoot as it hits the middle of his hand as he groans in pain.

Two Face: "Oh, yeah, that's the look... wait."

Two Face states as he stand infront of him, but he has suprised look on his face as he stares at Red Hood.

Red Hood is also confused why he's looking at him suprised, but then He notices his helmet behind Two Face. His helmet was knock off when big phone fell on him.

Two Face: Huh, who would knew. Ladies and gentlement of the jury, the vicious, murderoues criminal, Red Hood, is acutally the Robin, the 2nd Robin!"

He announces as even civilians who are still around are shocked as some even gasp as they peak from their covers.

Red Hood looks to the side and sees the a woman with a microphone and a man behind her, with a camera, filming this, which means this is live.

Two Face: "You're not first to come after us for revenge. So, who did we kill?"

He says as he kicks the pistol away.

Two Face: "Girlfriend, sibling, mama, papa?"

At last word, Y/N greets his teeth in anger and pain, as he takes out his taser from his left sleeve. He goes to attack but Two Face kicks his left hand, knocking the taser out of Y/N's hand as it flies away on the ground.

Two Face: "Daddy issues, huh?"

He states as he knows why now.

Two Face: "Of course. Those will drive you batty."

He says as Y/N looks back at him.

Two Face: "I'm starting to wonder if fate was ever on your side, at all. Look at you. You used to fly with a Bat. You used to stand for something. Now, you're like a coin on it's edge."

He says as he takes our his famous coin and shows it to Y/N.

Two Face: "You're nothing. Gotham fears you. Batman chasing you. You're just everybody else. A murder. A perfect failure."

Even after saying all these words, Y/N didn't even flinched or changed his facial expression.

Two Face: "Huh, It's seems you don't even care anymore, don't 'ya. But you got other thinks to worry about. Like, we leave you to bleed out, or put a the next bullet in your head? You might call this - -"

Red Hood: "Spare me the damn speech and get it over with!"

Y/N cuts him as he yells. Two Face chuckles at this.

Two Face: "That's the spirit, kid."

He then points his gun at Y/N's head as civilians gaps and some hide behind cover.

Two Face: "Any last words?"

Red Hood: "... Yes..."

He answers as Two Face gets curious what's he gonna say.

Red Hood: "You know what you can call this?"

He asks which confuses Two Face.

Red Hood: "... The double jeopardy."

He says as He takes out the detonater and pressed it, as his helmet behind him activates as Two Face looks behind him at the noise. Then helmet explodes as Two Face is sent flying as Y/N cover up his head, as civilians around scream at the noise and hide behind cover as black smoke rises from explosions.

As smoke clears, couple of cops come rushing in through entrance.

Cop: "Freeze!"

One yells, but what they only see as smoke clears is Two Face laying on the ground, weak from the explosion, but Red Hood was gone.

Next Day, Batcave

News Anchor#1: "In today's news, there was a gun fight between the notorious criminal Red Hood and another criminal Two Face, in the mall."

Reporter said as everyone watched the news on computer. Bruce sitting in the chair, Luke and Kate on his right, Alfred and Damian on his left and Dick who just came on his motorbike into the cave as he gets off and walk to others.

Kate: "You're late."

Dick: "Sorry, I'm getting calls from Kori - from everyone who knew about Y/N. Even the League called me because Bruce didn't answer to them."

He says as he looks a little pissed of towards Bruce, but Bruce didn't pay any attention, he just watched the news.

News Anchor#2: "In the fight, it seems Red Hood identity was revealed after his helmet fall off."

Dick annoyed walks closer to the computer.

News Anchor#3: "The infamous Red Hood, was revealed to be Batman's former protege, 2nd Rob - -"

Then Dick pressed a button on keypad which turn off the computer as Dick, on verge of anger stared at Bruce, waiting for any responce.

Damian: "He looks pissed."

Luke: "Indeed."

Damian mubbled as Luke agreed.

Dick: "Bruce."

Dick stared as still Bruce didn't looked at his first partner.

Dick: "Why you didn't tell us earlier about him?"

Dick asked but Bruce just got up from his chair and was going to walk away, but Dick finally lost it and throwen one of his ligma sticks infront of Bruce, which made him to stop, as other watched in shock.

Luke: "Uh oh."

Kate: "Dick, maybe you need to - -"

Kate tried to calm down Dick but he brushed her away.

Dick: "Why, Bruce, why! Now hole world knows and he is now a target for every villan who want revenge on him. We could have helped him!"

Dick yells angrly, at again another of sercets he has kept from him and them.

Bruce: "He has become dangerous, Dick. He has become dangerous to us, to city... and himself."

Bruce finnally spoked as he turns and faces his former partner.

Bruce: "When I fought him that night, I saw he was holding on."

Dick: "Holding on what?"

Bruce: "From killing me. He has been fighting a war inside of him for these last 3 years. I tried to help him, but if we did, he would never healed. Maybe his scars have healed, but pain hasn't. So I let him go. If he has managed to heal himself to the point of nearly getting his revenge that night, then he can do it alone again, right this time."

Bruce explained as Dick calmed down and look down, in thought.

Luke: "He isn't wrong. Kid manages not to kill anyone in months after it."

Damian: "Until now."

Damian stated as everyone looked at him.

Damian: "But he saved me, twice. Maybe he won't show it, but he still tries to not to kill."

Damian stated, as everyone is liitle suprised, because Damian isn't the person who shows gratitude.

Kate: "He saved me that day too. He could have killed my father, but he didn't."

Kate replied, as she step closer.

Luke: "Well he saved me from getting killed by my dad."

Luke said, little joking as Damian hit him and gave gim a glare.

Luke: "Damian and him."

Now everyone looked at Dick.

Dick: "Not just he saved every person on that building, but me too."

Then he looks staight into Bruce's eyes.

Dick: "And you."

Before anyone could continue, computer suddenly turned on as everyone looks at at the screen and there's a messages writen.

"If you're done with your pep talk, I would like to talk to old man."

Luke: "Whata?"

Kate: "Wait, he can hear us?

Dick: "Who are you?"

Then another messages appeared.

"Who else, birdman."

Everyone looked at each other as Bruce stepped closer to the computer as another messages appeared.

"You and me, alone, 7 pm today, location: I nearly bitten my finger off that night."

Damian: "What kind of riddle is this?".

Dick: "Bruce..."

"Show me some trust, Dick, because I don't know if I trust myself."

And with that computer turned off.

[TIMESKIP]

It's night time as lights shine in Gotham City, as full moon shines on the night sky.

In the Gotham City limits, near the cliff, Y/N is seen sitting on his red moddified motorbike and with a paper bag place on the bike.

Y/N is wearing his Red Hood suit, apart the helmet. As he stares at Gotham, we can see a white streak on his head/ H/C right side (if you have put him having white hair, then red streak, but I doubt that for a kid having white hair makes sense.)

Then an car engine is heared as batmobile parks behind him as front lights turn off and a hatch opens, as Bruce, in Batman suit steps out.

Bruce: "Two Face survived, but was really knocked out. So did you try to kill him?"

Bruce ask as he walks infront of batmobile.

Y/N: "Don't get your bat-panties in a bunch, Bruce. If I did, then he would be dead a month ago. In fact, you can say I took a page from your book. I didn't do a damn thing."

Y/N says as he gets up and walks to Bruce as stey stare at each other, Bruce is still taller then Y/N, but not as taller five years ago.

Y/N: "I have played by your rules for these last 3 months. I tried it your way - - and it sucks. Frankly."

Bruce: "My way?"

Y/N: "Yeah, all your law-and-order crap."

Y/N tells him but then.

Bruce: "Ha!"

Y/N: "Are you laughing? Because it's really unsettling."

Bruce: "I'm sorry - - how long were we together when you were Robin? And you think I'm all about law and order?"

Bruce says as he lowers his cowl down.

Bruce: "Y/N. I break into private property without a warrant and beat people up. Almost every night. What about that sounds like and law and order to you?"

Y/N: "Well, in parts of streets I lived in, that was normal."

Silence takes over as they stand there in the night.

Y/N: "So you're okay with me never being... you?"

Y/N asked as he pointed at one of his pistols.

Bruce: "There's already a Batman... But if anything happens to me and Dick, I would like you, no matter what you did, to take the suit until Damian gets older. But no killing in my city."

Y/N: "... Last question. I'm only going to ask you this once, Bruce, so think about your answer... "

Bruce: "What's that?"

Then Y/N lifts a paper bag towards Bruce.

Y/N: "... You hungry?"

Bruce smiles as he takes one of the hamburgers out of the bag and then they both sit on the front of batmobile, staring into Gotham.

They have little chit-chats until they talk about a certain boy with Robin
suit.

Y/N: "Bruce, maybe he acts like a total brat, but he's... a good kid... you just have to see it through and it isn't definetly your fault that he's like that...well expect for his attitude."

Y/N says as Bruce chuckles. He look at Y/N for a moment as he thoughts of something as Y/N takes another bite of the hamburger.

Bruce: "Y/N."

He asks as Y/N looks at Bruce, as he can see the look on his face, knoeing he has something to tell him as Bruce looks into distance.

Bruce: "Unlike you or Dick, Damian has the father and a brother by his side, which you never really had...but I don't think he needs a father or a brother like Dick."

Y/N raises his eyebrow as Bruce continues.

Bruce: "I think Damian doesn't need a father who will protect him because he can already protect himself or a brother who is sassy sometines and playful... I think what Damian really needs... is a brother who can understand him. Understand his pain and problems...because that brother went through the same thing."

Y/N widen his eyes in suprise as Bruce turns too him.

Bruce: "I know I'm asking a lot but - -"

Y/N: "Stop it Bruce,  apologizing or asking for help wasn't your strong suit, but yeah... I can do that."

He says as they get of the batmobile.

Y/N: "But if I'm going to be by your side again, acutally I still can be Robin so I might do something on the suit."

Bruce: "And what's going to be?"

Y/N: "You'll see... tommorow I guess?"

He asks as Bruce nods. There's a akward silence until unexpectedly Y/N lunches himself Bruce and hugs as Bruce after a seconds of shock hugs him back.

Maybe Y/N wasn't an ideal son, but he will be there for him, because he is his father and Bruce knows it, because Y/N is his son.

They stay in the hug as camera looks i to distance towards Gotham.

FLASHBACK

2010, GOTHAM ROOFTOPS

On one of many gargoyles, Y/N is seen sitting there in his Robin. He looks sad, dissapointed with himself, as single tears manages to go down through his domino mask down his cheacks. But he knows he's not alone.

Y/N: "How did you know I was here?"

Y/N asks as Bruce in Batman suit walks out of the shadows behind him.

Bruce: "Because you're the only kid I've ever met who has his favourite gargoyle?"

Bruce says, but sounds more like a question.

Y/N: "Look, Bru - - Batman. What if you and Alfred are wrong about me? What if I screw up or something?"

He asks as he sniffs.

Bruce: "I am one hundred percent confindet that you will screw up, Robin. You'll jump to conclusions. You'll make mistakes. You're bound to fail spectaculary at least once."

He says to his partner as Y/N looks up at him.

Y/N: "Real confidence-building skills there."

Bruce: "I didn't ask you to be Robin because I wanted someone perfect. I wanted someone who can do their best. Who can learn from their mistakes. Someone who makes me a better person just by begin with them. So tell me...is that you, Y/N?"

He asks as Y/N smiles through his tears because nothing is more beautiful than a real smile that has struggled through tears. Y/N raises his hand as Bruce helps him get up.

Y/N: "The name's Robin."

Bruce: "An honor."

END OF FLASHBACK

NEXT DAY

The bat signal lights up on the night sky. Doors of garrage opens up as we see Batwoman on her motorbike. She smirks as she then drives out of the garrage.

She drives around couple of cars as she then meets with Nightwing who is on his own bike as they look at each other smiling. Then they hear a sound above them as they Batwing flying above them.

Then Batwing first lands on the roof, followed by Nightwing and Batwoman as infront of them was bat signal and near it were Batman and Robin as they turn to them, Robin smirking as He crosses his hands on his chest as one's who have a cape, it flutters in the wind.

Red Hood: "Is there room for one more?"

Then they turn to (Batman's) right as Red Hood came graplling and landing on the roof,

As he now wears a R on his bat symbol.

Nightwing: "So, what should we call you? Red Robin Hood?"

Nightwing joked.

Red Hood: "Maybe a megaphone to announce that?"

He joked back, but then they hear shooting and police sirens as they look towards the streets.

It was the Penguin who was driving away as money flied out of the car's window as he shoot at police cars chasing him.

Then everyone grouped at and look at Batman who nod as Batwing flied UP, then Batwoman glide and Nightwing grappled and Red Hood and Robin grappling in same time and finally Batman who jumped and grappled following everyone else.

Now, what ever happens, it stays in the family.

So this is last Chapter of ARC II and next is ARC III Justice League VS Teen Titans

Fair warning, first Chapter of that ARC Will start with a "Brother bonding" time maybe but I'll see

But first Chapter might come out next week because this week It's some thing important.

Well this week It's my and ShadowMaver birthday. Yes, we have birthday on same day because we are twins, duh, it like in 2 days, on Thursday, Febuary 4th.

It's funny, because Cristiano Ronaldo's birthday is on Febuary 5th and our mom's birthday is Febuary 8th. How convinet.

And on friday we Will have small birthday part with some of our friends and Marko and I should buy Injustice 2 legendary edition by that time si we Will have a small tourment.

Guess who I am gonna pick? 😂
