Chapter Nineteen

Clara

"My love," Luca said as she walked through the door. A smile was plastered on his face. "I was thinking maybe we could for a stroll at the beach."

He walks to me and kisses me on the forehead, he sits next to me on the couch and holds my hand. Waiting for a reply his eyes on me, I could feel his stare. At this moment all I was thinking about was Detective Dylan. Could his accusation towards Lucas be true. I look at my hands, suddenly a wave of doubt had come to my mind. "What's wrong?" he asked.

"Nothing," I replied. I felt bad lying to him, though I didn't need him to worry. "I just missed you and yes a stroll at the beach would be lovely." He kissed me on the cheek and stood up. Lucas want to change m and wore a white mandarin shirt and black jeans.
I wore my sandals. I stood by the door, ready to go. We held hands as we walked together.

We got in the black BMW, Luca drove. He's shoulders relaxed and eyes fixed on the road. "The beach isn't far," he said. I looked outside the window, watching trees rush by. The window rolls down. "Fresh air for mi lady," he says in a awful english accent. I couldn't help but laugh, it's crazy how Luca can bring a smile to my face in the simplest ways. Though my mind couldn't stop wailing about Detective Dylan's accusations and the words just seems keeps on replaying in my mind.

On the other hand my heart seemed to be fighting for Luca's innocence. I was at war, though eventually my heart won. I stole glimpses from Luca each time my mind doubted the love of my life. I re-assured my heart and mind by looking at him, all doubt vanished. The car stopped and we reached the beach. We both got out of the car and Luca opens the back door and removes a picnic basket. How did I not notice that? Probably because I was too busy at war - as my heart and mind bickered.

Luca looks at me and smirks. I am the luckiest girl in the world! Luca walks towards the beach and starts to lay out a mat. A cool breeze blew past my body — making my dress fly as I walked. The waves crashing onto the shore, the sun shimmering on the sea making it look like the sea had hidden gems. The sea is crystal clear. I removed my sandals and held them in my hand, feeling the hot sand between my toes. I looked down and see different types of shells, and tiny crabs running by me. I was mesmerized by the view of the ocean.

"You look ravishing!" Luca said as he walked towards me. He grabbed my waist, placed his head on mine, his breath fanning my lips. Luca closed his eyes and said...

"You are my precious treasure, my breathe of life. You came into my life and healed my wounds and cured my soul. I am forever grateful and forever yours." I couldn't help it but smile. I kissed him, he kissed me back savoring the moment.

"I love you," I said as my lips left his. We stopped kissing and sat on the mat. Luca took out a sandwich from the basket wrapped in foil and gave it to me. I sat Indian style and faced the ocean, I ate my sandwich. "It's beautiful," I said my eyes watching the gentle waves.

"Yes it is," he replied.

"Lucas how come you've never mentioned your ex-girlfriend?" I asked abruptly, without thinking. I thought out loud and right away I knew it was a bad idea. I observed Luca, his shoulders suddenly tensed up, his facial expression changed; he sighed seeming frustrated, I caught a glimpse of remorse in his eyes.

"Because it's in the past. It doesn't matter anymore," he replied coldly.

"Okay," I replied and took a bite from my chicken sandwich. "This is really good."

"Yeah," he spoke in a low tone. Luca stood up and started walking along the shore line and stood at a distance — watching the scenery ahead. I decided to go to him. I stood next to him and held his hand, my fingers interlocking with his.

"I am sorry," I told him.

"It's okay," he said. "I just don't like talking about her. It didn't end well."

"Okay," I said. "You know I've never been to a funeral and a ball at the same day. I have never been to a ball actually." Trying to change the subject.

"Hah well what can I say. My family does like to go all out even on the darkest - saddest days," he said his voice laced with enthusiasm.

"Hah." Luca turned to face me, and held both my hands.

"Clara James Thompson..." he said my full name. He left my right and removed a ring from his pocket. A RING!? My heart beat started beating faster, I couldn't hear my self think. He kneeled down on one knee and held my left hand. "Will you do me the honor of..."

"Yes!" I answered quick but sure tears of joy falling from eyes. "Yes I will marry you!" I kneeled down and hugged him. I was getting wet due to the waves but it didn't matter.

"Princes you never let me finish my romantic speeches," he said. I grinned at him and wrapped my arms around his neck.

"I am sorry," I told him. He pulled me close and kissed me. "What were you going to say?" I asked breathlessly against his lips.

"I was going to say, Will you do me the honor of marring me and spending the rest of our lives together. As I know my life will never be complete without you beside me to share it," he said in a silvery tone.

"I do! Yes I will, I will marry you," I said excitedly. Luca removed my hands around my neck and stood up. I too followed his movements and got up. He took my left hand and placed the ring on my ring finger. It's beautiful, it's a round-cut diamond ring. I hugged him. "I love you," I told him.

I can't believe it, I am engaged. I can pass out from all this excitement I am experiencing. We walked along the shore line — holding hands. Talking about a future we have yet to meet, planing a dream wedding. Saying a hundreds a "I love yous" as if there's no tomorrow. We spent the whole day embracing each other. We laid on the mat, my head on his chest. Listening to his heartbeat, that just soothed me. There's no place I'd rather be.

Lucas's phone started ringing - continuously. He didn't want to pick it up but I forced him too. Luca removed his phone from his pocket, he answered the call and put it on loud speaker. "Hello? Lucas," Vanessa spoke sounding bothered.

"Hey sis," he said in a happy tone.

"Where's Clara? I am guessing she's with you," she said.

"Yes she is. What do you want from my fiancé?" He asked and kissed me on the cheek.

"Finally you popped the question! Congratulations. Now can you bring her back the hair stylist and make artist are already here, she needs to get ready." I quickly sat up, and remembered the ball. I almost forgot.

"Don't worry she'll be there on time," Luca replied as he sat up.

"Hurry up!" She yelled and hung up the call.

"What time is it?" I asked concerned.

"It's four o'clock," he replied casually.

"Get up!" I told Luca while standing up. " I am getting late."

"Don't worry we will get there on time," he replied. Obviously he wasn't in a hurry, all he had to do was wear suit and style his hair. But you got to give to him, he always looks hot. I carried the mat and he carried the basket.

We got in the car, I told Luca to drive as fast he could. He did the exact opposite, he can be so annoying sometimes. We got to the mansion and I rushed up the dramatic wooden stairs. I got to my room, panting. I quickly got in the bath room and took a quick shower. The soap fall about five times, I couldn't get a grip. As I was in a hurry. I got out of the bath room, wrapped with a towel.
I took out a random short dress from my suitcase. I went back in the bath room put on my lingerie and thank goodness I carried my good bra. It actually shows that I have breasts - when I put it on.

I quickly wore my short dress. Luca was on the couch busy on his laptop. There was a knock on the door, then suddenly the door swung wide open. It's Vanessa and she doesn't look so happy, but she looks gorgeous her make up and her hair style is just amazing. "Clara!" She yelled my name. I shared a quick glance with Luca, all he did was smirk. I mouthed to Luca help me, he smiled and mouthed back good luck. "Get your dress and let's go," she instructed. I quickly took the dress on the couch and walked towards her. Vanessa walked so fast, she started talking about how late I am and the ball is in two hours.

We got in a room that was just down the hall from my room. We got in and two girls were standing arranging things on the table, I couldn't see what exactly. I honestly felt like I was in a reality t.v show. The one whereby the not so good looking girls get a make over. I was told to sit in front of the huge dressing table, with a six feet mirror. In front of me make up, all types of lipsticks, make up palettes. All the make up in the world. The ring on my finger caught my attention and I started staring it. Hmm Mrs Lucas Salvador.

Luca

A smile crept on my lips whenever I thought of Clara. I can't believe I get to spend the rest of my life with her. There was a knock on the door - immediately interrupting my thoughts. I went to open the door only to find the maid holding my tux. I took it from her and closed the door. As I was walking towards the bed, my phone started ringing. I kept the tux on the bed and removed my phone which was in my pocket. An unknown number was calling - no caller ID. I answered the call.

"Lucas Salvador," a gruff - manly - disembodied voice spoke.

"Who is this?" I asked.

"That is not important. A message has been sent to you. Do as your told or else," he threatened.

"Or else what? How the hell did you get my number? Who the fuck are you? Is this some sort of prank?"

"Or else your girlfriend finds out the truth about you. The real person behind her best friends misfortune and death. If you do not do as you are told, your mask shall fall tonight. I assure you Lucas this is not prank," he said and hang up the call.

I open my messages and I couldn't believe what I read. How can I kill...

I threw my phone and it hit the wall. I can't kill my aunt! She's a bad person but she's family, but if I don't I'll lose Clara. Oh God! I don't know what to do...
