Doma POV

As soon as school was over I could already hear the shouts and screams of joy from everyone about the holiday let's just be true to ourselves. This school year has been a whole lot more than hectic. I turned my back to face Adele but she wasn't there. I was confused but school was just over. Why did she leave so soon? Soon after Farris walked up to me

"Yo man what's up why looking so puzzled like you saw a witch or something?" he asked.

"oh, nothing... But like did you see Adele walk past?" I asked.

"Yeah, she was in a haste to get out of school I guess," he asked when suddenly he was gazing at something else and when I followed his eyesight. He was gazing at Adaora. I gave a very noticeable eye roll but he wasn't fazed at all.

"so like I'm gonna meet see you soon," I said and he just nodded his head walking away from me to Adaora. Picking up my ash bag I started my journey to Adele's house but I wanted to seeAunt Natalie.

After all the push and pull around the market, I finally reach her boutique. She was selecting some new batch of clothes and as I shouted "Aunty!" she raised her eyes to see me and she gave me a warm smile saying "Doma!". I walked to her entering into her embrace. Once we departed she looked at me skeptically.

"why looking at me that way?......should I leave?" I asked in a playful tone.

"no don't but you don't often see me ,that's it" she said playfully pained but I don't really know whether it affected her.

"we shouldn't dwell in the past aunty" I said trying to quit the awkard moment. She just gave a eye roll and went bck to what she was doing.

"so tell me what's up?" she asked as we sat down on the brown polished wooden stools at the entrance of the boutique.

"nothing really"

"what about adele?"

"oh we're good...." I said but I didn't really try to hide the worry that still gripped me.

"what's up doma?" she asked but this time looking at my eyes and I couldn't lie to her.

"okay.....adele acted weird in school today when I told her we are spenting the holiday today at school and when I told her we will talk after school she vanished as if......as if.." I said trying to find the right words but then aunt Natalie said it all out. "as if she's avoiding you"

"yeah" I answered shallow.

"hmm..maybe she wants to break up with you" aunty Natalie said casually.

"why?"I blurted out.

"I'm just kidding....on a serious note...maybe there's something she keeping from you cause she don't want to hurt your feelings. I know its hurting you too.... worrying and thinking maybe your not good lenough but you are you hear me!!" she said with conviction and I just nodded.

"but whatever she's gonna tell you just try to see her beyond that and don't leave unless I'm gonna rush to your house and cut you to bits and maybe fed you to my dog as a treat" she said smiling slyly.

"okay I'll go talk to her......so do you know about the trading?" I asked just recalling what papa talked about in the morning.

"oh your dad told me about it tho but I'm sure that our king will protect us even if they want to declare war so no worries"

"his a new king and...." I said and she cut me off as she rest her hand on my shoulder forcing me to look into her captivating blue eyes.

"you don't need to worry...I'll always protect you no matter what okay?" she said in that reassuring tone of hers.

"you deserve to live your dreams.... you know and not just to be married off to a mindless chief" I said.

"chief wole Richardson is not mindless" she said defensively.

"so you're now madly in love with him" I asked puzzled.

" I am done with my love story Doma focus on your Adele" she said changing the topic but I didn't mind.

Soon then my twins cousins came running to my direction. Leticia and Alicia Richardson, aunty Natalie daughters. They are about about my age but we get along very well. I guess people are just naturally attracted to me.

"Doma!!!" they screamed after me before giving me a rib cracking hug.

"hey my black barbies.....how..... are you..... guys.... doing?" I said trying to breathe through the hug.

"okay girls you leave Doma alone before you stangle him with your hugs" aunty Natalie said laughing hard. Soon after they release me from that suffocating and heartfelt embrace.

"sorry" they said in their unison.

"its fine....." I said finally breathing.

"so its now you finally come see us?" it was Alicia who spoke. Alicia is the short one among the twins. That's how I differentiate them unless they are practically identical. Alicia is the sassy one,while letica is the opposite, I always think she has more to say than she shows.

"alica don't talk like that" I said jokingly.

"okay girls doma wants to go and visit someone so his going now" aunt Natalie says and they both give me cute sad eyes.

"is it adele?" Alicia asked giving me that matter-of-fact look.

"ok I'll see you guys later...take care aunt Natalie and Leticia try and talk more" I said not knowing why I said the last part but I don't regret it too.

I picked up my ash bag taking my trip to Adele's house. It is at a site a little far from the city view but only a few kiosks are there where men can drink to stupor and smoke making the place a deserted place. I came across a brown-painted duplex with simple trimmed hibiscus at the entrance and a big black gate. There was also a red SUV parked at the parking lot of the large space. I wondered if Adele dad bought a new car. The gateman already knows me so he opened the door no questions asked.

Its been a while I've been here. As far as I am concerns her parents don't really approve of me that well. Soon after I saw Adele walking over to me hastily. I stretch my arms over to hug her but she shrugged me slyly.

"what are you doing here?" she asked making me wide eyed.

"is that all you have to say?" I said cutting the distance between us.

"doma... "she was speechhless as if finding the right words to say.

The sound of the doors creak opened stopped the gripping moment between us and when I gazed at the front door. Adele's parents, and a man I assumed to be in his thirties came out to the balcony where me and adele stood. Adele looked down, worried, maybe frightened.

"what is this doing here?" adele father, chief arize said diguested pointing at me.

"Good afternoon sir" I greeted quiet enough to be a whisper.

"what are you doing here doma?" her mother, susan asked clamly.

"I came to visit adele of course...sorry if I came to intrude into something important...I'll come back tomorrow" I simled midly glancing at adele but she wasn't speaking at all just mute.

"don't bother....doma meet adele husband to be chief Eugene." Arize said smirking at me as the man just chuckled.

"so this is the doma I've heard about.... He said as he walked up to me placing his hand on my shoulder.

"well thank you for taking care of adele but those silly high school love story is done now s just run off and find another lover okay?" he said clearly mocking me.but then I looked a adele. Thisd muct be a lie or some joke but no she just stared at the fucking ground. My throat felt tight as my chest clench painfully. It felt hard to breath and my eye sight blurred out showing me a watery view. Was I crying? Infront of all this unless people?

I walked out feeling the rage and sadness that swelled up in me.passing throught the gate recalling all the feeling and memories all coming so fast. Why am I hurting? My senses felt numb until I heard a voice call me "doma!" I just don't want to turn back cause I know who's calling me.

"doma please wait!...please listen to me!!" I heard the voice call me but more somber and that's when I turned back. Remembering aunt nataile words

'but whatever she's gonna tell you try and see her beyond that and don't leave unless you want me to rush to your house and cut you into bits and feed you to my dog as treats'

"I'm listening what you got to say" I said trying to sound clam but my voice did the opposite.

"doma I swear I didn''t want to do this to you....my parents have been planning all this for a long time now and after my high school they are selling me off that that worthless chief....i love you doma but I couldn't bear to see the look in your eyes...and I don't want to end things with you...cause I love you" she said out but I cut her off with a hug and she just cried her heart content on my shoulders.

"I don't also want to end things with you....sorry I left out of anger...there is no excuse for that...I never considered how hard it is for you and I'm sory but please don't cry again cause I'll always be there for you" I whispered to her ear and her sombing stopped into shaking breaths.

"doma I'm sorry" she said between sobs.

"no need to apolgise we'll work this out and besides I love you so I got to stick around" I said beaming a sad smile.

"thank you Doma" she said giving me sad smile already as I lean a little to give her a soft kiss on her cheeks.

"anytime Adele....we'll work this out I promise but if you don't mind will you like to go to the festival with me?" I asked and just figured out it was the wrong time to ask that.

"of course and you don't need to ask" she said moving forward to give me a long passionate kiss on the lips. I've almost forgotten what I was throwing away. This feeling, this joy I could never imagine a life without her.

After we talked it off I started my trip back home. Wow! I can't believe adele is getting married off after high school. My chest felt heavy just with that thought. But no I can't cry again for her sake. We are going to get through this. I promise with conviction in my heart......
