18 - Half-Blood

A/N there'll be two notes here sorryyy. So the Q and A idea was well received so PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS IN THE COMMENTS :)) please feel free to ask multiple questions about the story, characters, me, etc. like literally ask a lot I'm desperate

Jinxx stands at the front of the room and has undivided attention from everyone. "So I think we all know what-- or rather who this meeting is about," he begins, averting his eyes to me. "It seems we've found The One finally, but she's in dire need of training and knowledge. So we must make it our duty. Because with our training she can become more powerful than all of us and win this war. We've been prey to the fallen angels for far too long. The Angel Moon is coming soon and we all need to be prepared. Alara you're going to train her in spells--"

Alara didn't look very joyful to be stuck with that duty and, surprise, surprise, it showed.

"CC and Ashley will teach her all the fundamentals of being a warrior--"

"Sweet!" Ashley interrupts, pumping his fist into the air. Jinxx just gives him an annoyed look and continues, like a teacher who's tired of a frustrating student.

"Jake is already a spy for us, and he must be busy with it so he sticks to that. Andy will teach her in battle training and I will study with her," Jinxx explained. "Now, Quinn, the Angel Moon has been awaited and dreaded for decades but it's up and coming. On that night, the moon's light changes so you can see the outline of angel wings on the visible side of the moon and the demons and the fallen angels engage in a war. You're The One to fight on our side and win the war."

It felt weird to be heavily depended on in such a strange thing like this. I didn't think I was capable of it at all.

Jinxx clears his throat. "Now we discuss something else about you, Quinn. I've been able to read you enough to tell what you are."

My pulse quickens, nervous and thrilled at the same time.

"Originally we thought this girl was human, but from her displays of power, she's clearly not. Nor is she a demon, angel, or any of the type. She is a half-blood. One of her parents was human, while the other was a fallen angel. Therefore, their blood mixed and she was created. A half-blood like her hasn't been seen in at least 200 years."

He couldn't be telling the truth... could he? There was absolutely no way one of her workaholic parents could be a fallen angel. "What do you mean? Which parent?" I asked impatiently.

Jinxx paused for a moment before answering. "Your father."

I tried to imagine my work-obsessed dad with black wings but the image refused to come fully together. "Impossible," I say. "My dad isn't a fallen angel, I promise you." He raises an eyebrow. "Oh no, I didn't mean your current human father."

He shrugs as he says it, as if it means nothing, but my whole world as I know it is crashing down. Everything I'd believed my whole life was a lie. "Y-You mean," I stutter. "my father isn't my actual father?"

"Call him a step father."

It feels like the walls are closing in on me. I find it hard for me to breathe at all. Andy notices my shallow breathing and he massages my hand to try to get me to calm down. I appreciate his kindness, but it doesn't help too much. I wasn't even born from the dad I've been raised from. Did my mom know my real father was a fallen angel when she had me? Why did he leave? Who was he? Why couldn't he have explained this to me years ago?

I push myself off the couch suddenly. "I need some air." I can feel all their eyes on the back of my head as I leave the living room, but I don't really care.

I find a bottle of alcohol on the counter and take it with me. I know it's probably rude, but I'm not very concerned about that right now. Once to the back yard, I slump down onto the damp grass and take a swig. I think there was a rainstorm last night. The tree, Jinxx emerged out of the first time I saw him, looms above me. It feels like centuries ago but in reality, it was only a few nights ago. All this fantasy type stuff that should really be fictional is stressing me out again. I gaze up at the beautiful night sky and take another swig. A body sits down next to me and without me even taking my eyes off the stars, I know it's Andy.

His holds his hand out and I give him the bottle. He downs some and gives it back. "This shit is stressful, ain't it?"

"No kidding," I sigh, putting my hands behind my head and relax further onto the ground. We pass the bottle in between each other for a while and I can already start to feel a bit buzzed. "How could my father do that to me?" I say, angrily. "How could he just impregnate my mom and then leave before I can even meet him? He couldn't even bother to tell me anything."

Andy, lying close by is silent for a few seconds. "The world's just full of shit people, you know. I've run into my fair share of them. Some of them just don't care."

I hold myself up by my elbows now and take another drink. "You've always been really cute, you know that right?" I say, not really thinking about what comes out of my mouth. "Someone's had a little too much to drink," he replies, lazily, but I can hear the smile in his voice.

"Nooo, I'm telling the truth. The first time I saw you, you were so hot I couldn't think of anything to say. And like a day after I met you, I stalked you," I giggle. "I found all your music and videos and I stalked you the rest of the night." I'm laughing for no reason now. Maybe I did have a little too much to drink. "Whatever happened to that ass..." he slurs his words, trying to think of the name. "That ass, Ryder. You said something like, 'He's so hot I wish I was dating him'."

"I did NOT."

"You did, believe me."

He's sitting up and smirking and laughing now. It goes quiet and now we're just staring at each other. Everything feels dizzy. He's moving closer to me now. The air between us feels electric and my head is spinning. I can't take the space between us anymore.

I drag him with me to the ground, our bodies colliding roughly. Rainwater dripping from the grass from the stormy night before touches my skin lightly. Our mouths crash together desperately as if there were a gravitational pull, an unstoppable force that was meant to happen. It surprised me to feel his tongue. I feel a rush of heat beginning at my toes and all the way to my face. I've never done anything like this before.

And I like it.

His kisses trace along my collarbones and I wrap my arms around his neck. I flip him over and now I'm on top of him. I bite his lip teasingly and deepen the kiss. I can feel the alcohol and adrenaline surging through my veins. We're so, so close, the closest we've ever been, every part of us touching. I feel his hand sneak under my shirt and onto the bare skin of the small of my back. We're both gasping for air.

Never in a million years would I picture myself doing this. His other hand is on my inner thigh. All of a sudden, he puts both hands on my shoulders and flips me onto my back and kisses me deeply again. When he pulls away, he looks me in the eyes and I close the distance between us and bring my mouth back to his hungrily. This time he bites my lip and I feel blood. While gasping for air, my fingers find the hem of his t-shirt and I pull up. What the hell am I doing?

The shirt goes over his head and for a second, we both just stare at each other, unable to think, unable to form a rational thought. Unable to breathe. He then presses a kiss to my neck and I wrap my arms around his neck again. I feel my hands over his back and a trail of goosebumps is left wherever I touch. We slowly make our way back to kissing and my hands find the zipper to my jacket. I pull it off and leave it under us in the cold wet grass. Andy hesitates in our kiss for a fraction of a second. In the struggle of the kiss, I try to start pulling off my shirt.

Andy freezes but I do not. "Quinn," he murmurs. I ignore him. My shirt is already making its way over my stomach. "Quinn," he repeats a little more forcefully this time. My shirt is almost to my bra but he reaches out his hands and grabs my wrists.

"Quinn." This time he looks me in the eyes. "Stop." He pulls the hem of my shirt down. "You're not ready."

Anger flares up in me. "Why can't you let me make a move for once?"

He shakes his head as if I'm a stubborn child who is disobeying. That makes me ever angrier. "You need to understand. We can't. Think of the consequences."

I sit up abruptly, pushing his body off mine. "I'm practically throwing myself at you, Andy. I'm ready."
"No, you're not, Quinn. You're drunk."
"Why else would I be willing to take off my clothes? I wouldn't do that for a guy who's not worth it, or if I'm not ready."
"Quinn," he says, this time slower. "You need--"

"No," I say, standing back up. "And I can hear you perfectly well without you acting as if I don't know English. I'm not a dog. Here, take the stupid jacket." I throw it to him and he catches it, even though he looks shocked. "It's just another one of yours anyway so why the hell would I want it. You clearly didn't want me."

With that, I stalk away. Tears prick my eyes, but I will not show that in front of him. Walking out the fence, I hear him calling my name but I don't care. Tears are already flowing down my cheeks in hot streams. But I wipe them away, along with the blood dribbling from my lip.
