TWO

Jimin woke up at the crack of dawn. He didn't even have breakfast as he hurried to the backyard. He was inspired and ready to finish his sculpture but as he neared the backyard, he could feel a presence in there.

He grabbed his stick tighter and flung it in the air.

"Who's there? Who's the trespasser?"

He flung the stick again and felt it hit something solid.

"Ouch!" He heard a voice cry out in pain. Jimin immediately recognized the voice and from the sound, he made his way to the person who was hit and felt his body.

"Are you okay?"

"You're pretty tough..." Taehyung said with a strained voice.

"It's you!" Jimin recognized him straight away. "Why didn't you say anything?"

"I was about to but then your stick flew and bam straight to my face"

Jimin immediately felt sorry. "I'm so sorry. It's just I'm very protective of this place. Because of my condition, I've had several of my works stolen by art thieves!"

"It's fine. I'm okay don't worry" He straightened himself and subtly eyed the sculpture "I can understand your fear. Your work..."

He paused. "They are beautiful, exquisite. One of the best I've ever seen"

"You could actually go far with your talent"

Jimin laughed nervously. "Thanks but who will take a blind man seriously? I'll probably be cheated because of my condition"

"Don't sell yourself short! You're great! Your work is great..
And so are you"

His heart trembled just a tiny bit but he shrugged it off. That part of him had long been dormant. Why would it resurface again over a mere stranger's words?

"I guess I'll leave you now to continue your work" Taehyung said and turned to leave.

"Wait! Have you had breakfast? I figured you didn't have anything yesterday night" Jimin said.

Taehyung shrugged. "Don't bother. I saw a diner not too far from here. I could grab a bite there"

"Absolutely not!" Jimin said firmly. "The inn is responsible for your meals!"

Taehyung wanted to laugh. "Really? With three thousand won?"

Jimin smiled and Taehyung couldn't help thinking his smile was the most prettiest thing he had ever seen but he brushed the thought aside and focused on what he was saying.

"You would be surprised how cheap things can be here!"

"People grow their own food. Most of the things we use here are home made so we don't import much"

Taehyung nodded and shrugged. This place was much too rustic for him. He loved adventure alright but he couldn't imagine settling down here. He loved places that were lively, places where the nights are always busy. He would die of boredom if he lived here. Jimin continued. "Do wait a bit. I'll just make some finishing touches to my work then make us breakfast"

Taehyung was surprised. "You can cook?"

Jimin frowned. "What? You don't think a blind man can cook?"

The other turned red, instantly embarrassed.

"No... I didn't mean that. It's just most blind people I know always have things done for them"

Jimin smiled, both eyes slanting. It made him appear more innocent and very cute.

"Well not me. I refuse to let my blindness define me. It was hard at first but I was able to live with it. As long as I know where things are, I can do anything. Everything has to be kept in place or I'll end up a mess"

Taehyung laughed. "I get it"

"Do wait a bit okay?"

Taehyung nodded and shifted back to watch the sculptor. He instantly went to work, his hand moving swiftly across the clay sculpting. Taehyung stood and admired it. It was beautiful, the man shaped sculpting but the artist was even more so. He could see this brought him so much joy and it showed on his face, the way his lips tilted into a smile. Taehyung watched Jimin carefully. He wasn't the type to wonder about someone else but for the first time, he wondered about another.

Jimin obviously had a lot of energy. He was full of life. He seemed to be the type of person who would have loved to travel the world, carefree, a bit careless but loved to live life. He wondered how his life must have been. It must have been so hard.

Time passed and the artist didn't move from his position. Taehyung found himself smiling. He was damn hungry but he didn't want to disturb the other's concentration. It seemed Jimin had totally forgotten about him, already lost in his work so he took the seat beside him. From there, he could see him more clearly as he worked. He was still looking at the smile on Jimin's face when he finally dozed off.

A few minutes later, he felt a light tap on his arm. Instantly, he opened his eyes and saw Jimin looking worried. His eyes searching his face. Once, his eyes met his causing Taehyung to gulp. He had nearly forgotten the other was blind.

"I'm sorry. I was caught up in my work. I tend to loose track of time sometimes"

He smiled apologetically "You must be so hungry. I'll get right on it immediately" He said quickly and straightened himself up but Taehyung caught his arm before he could turn away.

"Now I get why you were messy the other day" He whispered as he brushed away the clay from his face and hair with his fingers. Jimin could barely move. He held his breath so tight, completely filled with nervousness. They were too close and he could feel T Grabbing his stick, Taehyung watched as he waddled away from the backyard. Taehyung turned to look at Jimin's sculpture. He was mesmerized by the finished work. He slowly shook his head. Jimin had so much potential. After taking a deep breath, he got up as well and followed him.

They both arrived at the kitchen. Jimin instinctively walked to where the apron was hanged on the wall and put it on. Then he started moving around by himself. Taehyung was fascinated.

"Are you sure you don't want my help?"

"I'll be fine" Jimin answered. He put on the cooker and began to mix something in a pot. Taehyung went closer and saw him open a pack of ramen and toss them into the pot.

"Wow! Ramen!" He exclaimed in excitement.

"Yeah, along with kimchi. Could you pass it to me. It's inside the fridge" Jimin said.

Taehyung quickly did as he said. He walked over to the fridge and found the kimchi neatly packaged. He handed it to the other. As Jimin took it, his fingers lightly grazed the other's skin. He shifted as soon as he felt a spark. It didn't last a second but it was definitely there and his entire face reddened.

"Th... thank you" He muttered. Taehyung wasn't fairing any better.

"It's nothing" He muttered as well. For the first time, he was glad Jimin couldn't see or he would have definitely noticed how red he got but the other was an open book. Jimin was able to cook without any difficulties and they eventually sat down to eat together. As they sat, they talked to each other.

"You really don't get much customers here, do you?"

"Not at all except on holidays. There would be influx of tourists and they would definitely be looking for a place to stay"

"I see..." Taehyung whispered chewing his food. The ramen tasted divine.

"What do you do Kim Taehyung?"

"Me? I'm an all-rounder. I'm a wanderer. I've never been the type to stay in one place for too long. I always search for the next chapter"

Jimin smiled. "You don't have dreams?"

"Of course I do. I have hopes to be a musician, touring the globe with music, bringing love"

"Family?"

Taehyung gave a sad smile. "Never really thought about that. There were times I thought of sharing life with someone but I don't think I'm capable of doing that"

"I might end up leaving one day. I'm that kind of person. I could change my mind and give up one day"

Jimin nodded. "As for me, it's been a dream of mine. Maybe it's because you've never found something worth staying around for"

Taehyung stared at the other, his chest constricting. Jimin seemed to read his mind. He was searching for something, a reason to stay but he didn't know what that was.

All of a sudden, someone barged inside interrupting the tranquil moment.

"Nephew! What are you eating?" Yumi yelled in a loud voice.

"Give some to me! I'm starving!" She yelled.

Jimin sniffed the air. He could perceive strong scent of alcohol in the air as soon as that woman walked in.

"Aunt Yumi, where you out all night?"

Yumi shrugged and ran over to them, dragged Jimin's plate and started to dig in. Taehyung glared at her. Yumi noticed it and barked.

"What? What are you glaring at pretty boy!"

"You could make your own food you know?"

Yumi chuckled. "See you've gotten a boyfriend who defends you dear nephew"

"Forget it Taehyung, She's often like this"

Taehyung frowned. Yumi ignored him and continued stuffing her face.

"You went there again didn't you?"

She tried to look oblivious but Jimin could tell by her hesitation that she was lying.

"You went to that club. I've told you Aunt. Those people are dangerous. It's best to stay away from them!"

"Then what would you have me do?" Aunt Yumi screamed.

"Because you're blind, I have to look after you. Stuck here in this remote place. I can't get a good job around here. What do you want me to do?

She banged her fist harshly on the table.

"Besides, you're my nephew. I'm older than you so you have no right to tell me what to do with my life alright?" She screamed again.

She stormed off leaving behind silence.

"What's gotten into her? Is she always this intense?"

Jimin shook his head. "No not till she started working at that night club as a stripper"

"She... she's a stripper?"

Jimin sighed "Exactly! These strange people moved in few months ago. They are really polluting the minds of the people around here"

"They introduced gambling, drugs. I suspect they are even in the Mafia and now, my aunt's working for them"

Taehyung nodded. "I see..."

He looked into Jimin's face and noticed he was upset.

"Guess you don't have an appetite anymore"

Jimin didn't respond. " Why don't you accompany me to take some pictures around town?"

"I'm not sure. We could have some guests..."

"Thirty minutes. It won't take longer than that"

Jimin had been put in a foul mood by his aunt. Maybe going out for a break could help clear his mind.

"Okay fine! Thirty minutes"

"Great!" Taehyung yelled out excitedly. He left his chair and hurried towards Jimin before he got up.

"Give me your hand" He whispered in a soft voice.

Jimin hesitated but Taehyung insisted. "Please..."

There was really no need for him to hold Taehyung's hand. He could walk fine on his own but for once, he decided to act like a helpless man. It confused him why he changed his attitude. He was normally fearless refusing to let himself appear weak in front of another person but this was the first time he actually wanted someone else to take care of him. Not just a random person, but the strange wanderer holding his hand out to him.

He slowly gripped his hand. Those hands were rough and much bigger than his own. It basically swallowed his hand whole. Jimin somehow liked the feeling.

"Shall we?" Taehyung whispered as he held his hand.

Jimin nodded shyly and allowed himself to be led hand in hand out of the inn.

To be continued...
