The mythology of Santa Claus is rich and complex. It goes back centuries and has varying incarnations around the world. He goes by many names but while he is jolly and joyful, old Kris Kringle also has a bit of a dark side....

He sees you when you're sleeping

He knows when you're awake

He knows when you've been bad or good

So be good, for goodness sake. 

Innocent lyrics, or a sinister promise? Santa seems to have an almost omniscient power. Maybe the bad kids get a bit of coal. Maybe they get something worse. Maybe they see a side of Santa left out of the songs and stories.
