Chapter 21

"Need some help?" I ask as Zach and I join everyone else. They've collected and created a pile of wood to make a bonfire.

"You think you could light it for us?" Abby asks from the log she's sitting on.

"I don't know if I trust it. She might accidentally explode and kill us all." Dean laughs. I flip him off and set my middle finger on fire. A few weeks ago, this would have been hard but now it's as easy as breathing. It's also easier for me to block out people voices. Not being constantly bombarded by peoples thoughts makes life a lot more enjoyable.

"You're welcome," I say after tossing a ball of fire on the dry wood. Minutes later all the logs have caught and the flames lick the night air.

"You need to leave!" Omari yells as he runs out of the house.

"What are you talking about?" Zach asks annoyed.

"I just had a vision. Raiden is coming. He'll be here soon. Usually, I get visions days before they happen but the house has been messing with my abilities. You need to get off the beach now!" He orders frantically but it's too late.

From behind me, a portal opens. A group of wolves and vampires emerge.

"I need the girl alive and save the half demon, he could be of use. Kill the rest. I'll be back when you're done." Raiden orders before closing the portal.

"Ash, Constantine, get Deyvon to the house now. Abby, Omari, and Dean go with them. When you get to the house it will teleport you back to Florida. Dean, get Tyson and the rest of the sins and bring them to the house. If I need back up I'll bring the house back here. Go, now." I order without taking my eyes off the group at the other end of the beach waiting to strike.

They take off toward the house without argument. I hear the door close and feel the house leave.

"Shall we do this like old times?" Caesar asks me with an amused grin.

"Lets," I say with a grin of my own. Caesar shifts within seconds showing the strength of an alpha. I pull one of my swords from its sheath. Caesar's wolf lowers himself for me to grab a fistful of is beige fur. I swing my leg over his back and he stands to his fill height bringing me seven feet off the ground. "Are you ready for this Zach?"

"Yes." I glance at him and see his face set with determination. His jaw is clenched, eyes narrowed at the enemy. He grips the sword in his hand tightly.

"Ash?" I ask.

"Waiting on your orders."

"Whenever you're ready Caesar." He charges down the beach. Sand kicks up from his paws and flies all around us. From my side I see Ash run before shifting into his dark brown wolf. He is close to Caesar's size and stature but is a couple inches shorter.

"Zach get on Ash. You need to move faster." Ash slows enough for Zach to get ahold of him. Once he's settled on his back he picks up his pace.

Don't mention this to anyone.

I'm telling everyone. I answer his thought telepathically. In response, he growls at me.

A half dozen of the wolves shifted into their forms. The others have only extended their claws and teeth. For some reason, the seven vampires haven't moved an inch.

"Caesar get me to those vampires." When he gets close enough he leaps over the approaching wolves. Once he's landed I quickly stand and front flip off of his back. Landing solidly on both feet, I bound forward and take out the vampire closest to me. His head falls heavily to the sand.

From the corner of my eye, I see Caesar sink his teeth into one of them. He rips the woman in half and finishes her off by ripping her head off her severed torso. My blade pierces through the chest of the vampire approaching. As I pull my blade free, a foot connects will my side sending me sailing ten feet away. I quickly turn my roll into a summersault to bring myself back to my feet.

I feel the two broken ribs crack and pop back into place as they heal. Grunting, I race toward the asshole who kicked me.

Jumping onto his shoulders, I bring my blade down into the top of his skull. His body falls to the floor and my feet land on either side of his head. I cut it off before his body can heal from the wound.

Get down. Caesar mentally shouts at me. I drop to the ground without hesitating and his wolf jumps over me. He crashes into the two vampires who were coming after me.

While he deals with those two. I make quick work of the last one remaining. When his head is no longer attached to his body, I run toward the pack of wolves Ash and Zach are dealing with. Within seconds, I'm taking on two of them. As the last body falls another portal opens sending more wolves and vampires. This time they are also accompanied by witches and demons. Powerful ones. We'll never make it.

Black blood splatters my skin as I fight with a demon. Zach lets out a cry and I turn to see three long gashes across his back. Ash whimpers. He's trying to fend off two other wolves and a demon who manages to stick him with his daggered tail.

I summon the house but no one runs out. Dean must still be getting them. We don't have time.

Into the water. Now! I order Caesar and Ash. I hear one splash then another. I swing myself around and latch onto Zach.

"Hold onto me," I whisper into his ear. His arms circle around my waist and he lets out a gasp when a ball of flames surround us.

With a scream, I throw out my arms sending the fire around us out for miles, incinerating everything in its path.

Breathing heavily, I rein in the flames until they dissipate. I sag heavily against Zach who still has his arms around my waist. He tightens his hold and helps me stand.

"Holy shit. Your friend Dean wasn't joking when he was worried you might accidentally explore and kill us all." Caesar laughs as he walks out of the water back in his human form.

"That time it was a controlled explosion. That's why I told you guys to get in the water." I point out. Ash pads out of the water before he shifts.

"controlled or not it saved our asses." Ash grunts as he gets up from the sand. He starts walking over to us when a portal opens up behind him. Before I can even register what's happening, Raiden plunges a blade through his chest. A blood-curdling scream is torn from my chest and I race over to him.

"You should have just said yes. His blood is on your hands as well as the blood of everyone else from this day forward." He pulls his blade free from Ash and steps back into his portal which closes behind him. Ashes body hits the ground moments before I get to him. His eyes closed as blood runs freely from his chest.
